MILTIADES MALACHITE POV
She looked at the 12 Hunters that the Council Member Rosa Fisher had brought with her.
3 whole team of hunters.
The last two times she had only brought two teams to the trade.
And if the feeling that Jaune was sending through the Shroud was right then there were two more teams of hunters hiding behind in the forest.
20 Hunters in total. You don't bring that many Hunter to the table if you want to negotiate.
The only silver lining about the entire thing was the fact that none of the Hunters here were of any renown. Meaning that they were probably average or even below average in terms of skill, speed, and strength.
With how strong she was at this point, she should easily be able to take care of a team like this on her own.
And Raven would take care of the rest.
Still, she would have liked to avoid such violence if possible. Not that she could do anything about it now but stand still and listen to the council woman's monologue.
"Really. You thought that you can barge into my home. Threaten me into this deal and get away with it scot-free."
"Yes." Raven replied in a bored tone and she could see the council woman's veins bulging in her forehead from the way Raven casually disregarded her.
The woman took a deep breath to calm herself and then glared at the both of them "It seems I might have overestimated you if you cannot even see the danger in front of you. That's hardly surprising. There's a reason why bandits like you never last for long."
"Are you done?" Raven asked and she got a message from Jaune telling her that they were in position and ordering her to start the attack with the Railgun cannon.
She sighed. When she first got this weapon, she had expected to use it against Grimm.
Using it against Humans left a bad taste in her mouth but Jaune wanted to make an example out of these Hunters as a warning for people who might try to betray them in the future.
And she had no problem obliging with his request. After all, reputation meant everything in this business.
"I am indeed done with you." Rosa said "Bruno, Mike. Take care of them for me. Make sure to keep them alive. You can even have fun with them later if you want."
Okay, that's it. This woman is going down.
"Yes maam." "With Pleasure." Two of the team leaders replied before moving toward them.
But before they could even get anywhere near them, there was a huge explosion behind them as everyone halted in their steps.
She used this moment to charge her Railgun cannon and fire at them.
Two of the Hunters had enough sense to keep an eye on them and managed to jump out of the way and one of them even managed to put his shield in front of him to brace against the damage.
As for the others, as soon as they were hit by the Railgun beam, their aura depleted, leaving them without any defense and then their bodies simply turned into dust and degenerated.
In just a moment, she, Jaune and their companions had decreased the number of enemy hunters from 20 to 7.
No wait, even the man who managed to bring his shield in front of him died thanks to the Railgun beam simply melting his shield.
Poor guy.
He should have invested in a better quality shield.
As for Rosa, her complexion had gone from Red (in anger) to pale (in terror). And was that… yup, that was definitely piss in her pants.
Raven took this as her chance and moved.
And the two Hunters who had jumped out of the way of her beam were cut into two pieces, their measly aura not being of any help against Raven's immense speed and strength.
Rosa stuttered at the remaining hunter team to stop Raven and she heard the sound of battle coming from the blasted area behind Rosa.
It seems that not all the Hunters brought by Rosa died in that explosion. It's also possible that another Hunter team was in hiding but she very much doubted that Jaune would miss them with his Telepathy.
"Don't worry Councilwoman Rosa." Raven said as she walked toward the shaking woman "You won't be dying anytime soon. In fact, I'll do my best to keep you alive for as long as possible."
Rosa cried out in terror and hearing the sounds of battle going on behind them, the last remaining Hunter team gathered their courage and charged at Raven.
She turned her Railgun into two Daggers and jumped into the midst, shocking them enough with her speed and sudden appearance that they broke their formation and jumped to the sides.
It was a pretty standard team as far as she could tell. They had one large guy with a shield who probably acted as their tank, another woman with a sniper rifle as their ranged fighter and two others men who had melee weapons.
"Your opponent is me." She said and charged toward the Sniper woman.
Only to jump to the side at the last moment as she felt something come at her at a very fast pace. Faster than any of these guys should be.
She did a somersault and heard the ground she was standing upon a moment ago crack under the assault of the person who had attacked her.
She turned to look and froze when she saw a person with a long scorpion tail and a deranged grin on his face.
She looked to the side and saw Raven fighting against another opponent of her own. A large man that she recognized from the descriptions that Jaune had given them.
In fact, she recognized both of them.
Tymior and Fazel?
She wasn't very good at names so she couldn't remember theirs but that didn't matter.
She knew that these two were Salem flunkies. Which meant that they were going to die.
She brandished her two daggers and charged at the Scorpion Faunus while the other four Hunters started to provide suppressive fire, supporting the Scorpion Faunus without having any idea of who this guy really was.
She grunted as she had to dodge a sniper bullet and the Scorpion Faunus managed to take the chance to score a hit on her, throwing her against a tree before he charged at her once again.
She looked at Raven and noticed that the ex Bandit leader had already beheaded the Large guy and was sitting on a tree trunk with the Councilwoman under her feet.
Raven watched her fight with a bored countenance and she held the urge to sigh.
Yup, she will have to do this on her own.
