Devil inside

After explaining everything to Ben, John went back to the church with Priya. On the way john stopped his vehicle and said,

"Priya, I'm going to tell you something about myself. It's not like I know if it's true or if it's a secret. All I know is, I met two guys a long time ago. And a year ago they told me something. Something about my life. Something about my birth. I don't even know their real names. They told me their names were Phoenix and Scarmerine. Nat knows about them but it seemed like she also forgot about them."

Priya was curious about what he's about to say. Natasha also waited for him to say it. He continued,

"They said I'm not an exorcist but an energy being."

Priya and Natasha were curious to know what these so-called Energy beings.

John started explaining about the energy beings,

"The energy beings are a type of humans. There are a total of 12 of them. Five of them have the power to increase or decrease the amount of energy. Other five have the power to absorb and emit them. One has the power to do both and the last one can do this all and he/she can even create energy. Sometimes an energy being can go beyond their actual potential. This information is as they said. I don't think anyone can create or destroy energy. So I don't trust them. Another thing is, the energy beings are like siblings without a blood connection. It says that the 12 of them are born on the same day. I think I need to check the library to know more about them."

Priya was confused. She asked,

"That's all fine but why are you telling me all this?"

John looked at her and said,

"There is a lot to explain so I'll do it later. For now we will go to church. That will be safer than out here."

They went back to the church. John told Priya to stay in the visitors room. Then he went to the seniors office.

Father Sebastian was already there. He was standing in front of father Andrewson. John entered the room after asking permission. Seeing John made father Sebastian feel angry but he didn't show it outside. He was putting on a sad face like he felt guilty for his actions.

Father Andrewson said,

"John, I'm sorry for Father Sebastian's actions. I think you can forgive him. So please, we are all a family, we don't want any of us to hold a grudge against each other."

John understood that father Andrewson hadn't yet known about the gangsters attack father Sebastian co-ordinated. But he didn't want to say it to him just yet. Father Sebastian put on a sad face and said,

"John, please find kindness in your heart and forgive me. I have done a lot of mistakes in my life but I will make It up to you. Not just you but to this church too. I confessed to Father Andrewson and he has already forgiven me. I'm a new man now. I will never walk the path of corruption again. I promise it to the almighty God."

Natasha started laughing out loud. John laughed inside. He thought, 'if there is an almighty God then he must be cursing Father Sebastian for making false promises in his name.'

John said,

"Father Sebastian, I'm never against you. I never held a grudge against you either. In the line of our works we might cross paths some time. But it never means we have to fight about it. I don't have to forgive you because I never saw you as a trouble maker."

John lied just like Father Sebastian did. Father Sebastian came forward and held John's hand. He said,

"Oh thank you John. You are a kind person. Your words gave me life. I will continue my good works to lighten the way for the needed ones. And you will be the light that enlightened my mind."

John smiled and he excused himself. He walked out and Natasha followed. She didn't stop laughing. He suddenly remembered about Priya and went back inside. Natasha became curious why he's going back inside. He said to father Andrewson,

"Father, I have a request to make. When I came back from the sterling city, someone came with me. Her name is Priya. She's the family of the ones who died in that haunted house. I need her till we solve this case. Can you please accommodate her for a few days?"

Father Andrewson started thinking. Father Sebastian was trying not to show his anger. Father Sebastian said,

"Father, that poor girl lost her family and this is a chance for her to find out what caused it. So you should please let her stay here."

Father Andrewson nodded in agreement. But he was still thinking.

John heard what Father Sebastian said. He becomes suspicious about how father Sebastian knew that she was here to find out what happened that day. Even John didn't know that. He was thinking of asking her about what actually happened that day.

Father Andrewson looked at John and said,

"John, you know our rules. We cannot accommodate outside people because there is not enough room for everyone. Only you and other special persons have the luxury of having a single room. The orphanage is for children and old aged people. Even if it's not there are too many people already. And about her expenses, how can we afford to get an outsider here? If she's willing to become a nun here then we can accept her. Otherwise there is no way. Please understand the situation"

Father Sebastian laughed inside and he said,

"Father, I can help. I will give her my room. I can adjust with someone else for a few days. It's not a big deal. Let me do this as the first good thing I do for John."

Father Andrewson looked at him and said,

"Oh Father, that was kind but still. It won't cover her expenses."

John understood father Sebastian is playing a good guy. He also knew there must be another reason for him to say that. He once tried to kill me so there is no promise he won't try to do the same to Priya if he's involved in this case. John said,

"Thank you for your kind offer father Sebastian, but I told you you have nothing to repay me. So forget it. I am just asking permission to take her to my room father. I can adjust on the couch for a few days and I'll take care of her expenses. Please just give me permission to do that."

Father Sebastian becomes more angry because John sees through his plan. He looked at father Andrewson. Father Andrewson gave John permission to accommodate Priya in his room. John thanked him and walked out. Father Sebastian also followed.

Priya was getting bored. She looked around. She looked into the room because she heard kids murmuring. She tried to call them but they were scared and ran away. She walked towards the window and started looking out. That time she saw the cat sitting under a tree and it looked right at her. Suddenly something fell on the cat's head. It was a stone. It came from the tree. She looked closely at the tree and saw a monkey sitting on it and laughing. She also felt funny the way the monkey laughs.

Father Sebastian came outside and walked towards John. John stopped and turned around. Father Sebastian became so close to him and whispered in his ears,

"You little brat. You saw through my plan it seems. Just leave this case right away. Don't make me kill you. Phoenix won't always be there to protect you."

John smirked and asked,

"Who will be there to protect you?"

Father Sebastian was shocked by John's sudden reply. He pulled back himself and looked at John's face. Father Sebastian felt he was looking at the face of the devil. He started sweating but he didn't show fear outside. He said,

"Watch out for your back, kid."

Then Father Sebastian walked away. On the way he looked back again in fear but John was standing there like nothing happened.

Natasha looked at Father Sebastian and started making silly faces. John walked towards Priya. Natasha saw he's going and she followed him. On the way she asked,

"Why didn't you tell the truth? Why are you trying to protect that creepy man? I can see his scared face under that brave face he put on. And not to forget he's planning something big against us."

John looked at her and walked towards a corner where no one could hear them. He made sure no one's around and said,

"Look Nat, Father Sebastian is like a snake. Hurting him and letting him go will only make things worse. So for now let him go. We will wait for the right moment to hit his head and finish him once and for all. I'm not planning to let him go that easily and I won't hesitate to kill him if I have to."

Natasha looked at John's face and she felt something devilish is inside John that's looking right at her and smiling when he said about killing Father Sebastian.
