While waiting for the right time before they attack the silver monkey, Noah could not help but turn to look at Jason as he signals if it is time since the silver monkey is getting really close to them but Jason didn't reply to him as he just bravely stood there while waiting for the right time.
"Just a little closer" Jason mutters to himself with a bead of sweat falling from his face.
Seeing Jason was not making a move, Noah was already on the verge of collapsing on the ground out of fear when he heard Jason's voice and not wasting a second, he quickly threw the purple substance towards the silver monkey and it was the same with Jason. Not caring to know if their plan works, they quickly turn around and start running after hearing the silver monkey's painful scream.
Summoning all the energy in their body, they ran as fast as they could since they knew it wouldn't be long before the silver monkey would regain its sight. So making use of the opportunity they had, they ran deeper into the forest without stopping to catch their breath, and before long, the sun was already out and the whole forest became dark with the sound of wind brushing against the leaves, chirping sounds of birds could be heard here and there and the sound of branches being stepped on, Jason and Noah were left in fright as they begin to proceed carefully down the forest.
"This is my first time walking inside a forest this dark, not a good experience for someone who just started walking you know" said Noah with a light laugh as he tried to lighten the mood.
"Same here, even though I work my ass out just to make sure I pay the debt my parents owe, I have never gone into the forest late at night but here I am going into a forest in the night just so I could be granted another chance to live" reply Jason.
"Do you think that monkey would still chase after or it has given up after losing us?" asked Noah.
"I don't know but that doesn't mean we are camping somewhere safe in this forest until dawn, so keep your eyes sharp" replied Jason after hearing Noah let out a yawn on many occasions.
"Don't you think we should rest a little bit since we are really exhausted from all that running Jason?" asked Noah as he let out another yawn.
"There is no way I'm taking a rest in this place and don't forget we still have three days to get to the other side before we are left behind" reply Jason.
When Noah heard about the time they had left before the trial ended, he suddenly gained the strength to walk and with that, they continued with their journey. Along the way, they will hear the roar of some animals and hide away while other times, they'll come across others like them engaging in a battle with these animals and sneakily go around them. With the night not being a quiet one for the two boys, they continued to go down the forest and before long, it was already dawn with the sun rising from the east.
"Two days left to get to the other side" said Jason with a sigh as he raised his head to look at the sun.
"With the pace at which we are going, I don't think we would make it in time," added Noah a little discouraged.
"Don't you want to enjoy life a little longer?" Jason decided to ask when he saw that he had lost courage already.
"I do want to live but I don't think I would be able to make it to the other side on time" replied Noah with a sigh.
"You can give up if you want but I still have a lot to do when I get revived so there is no way I'm going to give up here. This is just the second day and there is still enough time at hand and with the advantage provided by the sun, avoiding trouble becomes easier" said Jason with determination in his eyes as he stared at Noah.
"You can just stay here and wait to be eaten by those animals" After saying these words, he didn't wait to hear from Austin before continuing with his journey.
Noah doesn't think twice before chasing after Jason knowing fully well that he won't be able to survive in the forest all by himself and they continue with their journey. They walked for a long time until they got to a region where the forest was a little misty with some of the trees bearing fruit.
"Growl"
Noah's stomach let out a growling sound after entering the region and Jason could not help but stare at him with a pity look on his face.
"It's been two days and I have already forgotten how to eat, seeing all this fruit just awakened my hunger" said Noah with an awkward laugh.
"It has truly been a long time since we ate but I don't think it's safe for us to eat these fruits, I know what if they are poisonous?" asked Jason with a frown as he turned to look at the fruit.
Hearing that the fruit could be poisonous, Noah could not help but frown as he just stared at them before walking closer to one of the said trees, he plucked it before examining it.
"I hope you are not thinking of eating it Noah?" asked Jason when seeing him looking at the fruit strangely.
He let out a laugh before storing the fruit inside his armor as he replied to Jason's question.
"Relax Jason I don't want to die yet, I'm just storing some of the fruits away to test it on some animals if we come across one. Besides they do smell nice so I don't think they are poisonous but just to be on the safer side, I'm testing it on some animals first before eating them".
