Alexander sat in his office, his mind still focused on the events of the day. The feeling of Amber in his arms, the fear in her eyes, the sense of power he had felt in that moment - all of it lingered in his mind. He knew that he should be focusing on his work, but he couldn't help but be distracted by thoughts of her. He glanced at the clock on the wall, wondering what she was doing at that very moment. He shook his head, trying to clear his mind, but the image of her face refused to leave him.
He leaned back in his chair, his fingers drumming on the desk as he tried to refocus his thoughts. But the memory of her soft body against his, the look in her eyes as he had held her, was too strong to ignore. He closed his eyes, picturing her face in his mind, and for a moment he allowed himself to imagine what it would be like if she was with him right now. But he knew he had to put those thoughts aside. He couldn't let his feelings for her cloud his judgment.
Alexander's thoughts were interrupted by the memory of the fear in Amber's eyes, the way she had shaken when she was being followed. He couldn't help but feel that there was more to her then what he had initially thought. There was something off about her, something that he couldn't quite put his finger on. He knew that he needed to find out more about her, to figure out what was really going on. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to her than meets the eye, and he was determined to find out what it was.
Alexander picked up his phone and dialed Martin's number, his mind still focused on his questions about Amber. After a few rings, Martin answered the call.
"Yes, boss," Martin's voice came through the receiver.
"Come to my office," Alexander said, his tone firm. "I have some things we need to discuss."
Martin replied, his own curiosity piqued by Alexander's tone. "Be right there," he said before ending the call.
Within minutes, Martin arrived at Alexander's office and entered without knocking.
He took a seat across from Alexander, his expression curious and expectant. "You wanted to see me?" Martin asked, his gaze meeting Alexander's.
Martin's eyebrows raised slightly, but he nodded in understanding. "Amber, huh?" he repeated, making a mental note of the name. "What makes you so interested in her, boss?"
At Martin's question, Alexander's gaze hardened, his eyes taking on a cold demeanor. He didn't appreciate being put under scrutiny, especially not by someone who worked for him. He leaned forward in his chair, fixing Martin with a steely glare.
"I don't owe you any explanations," he said sharply. "Just follow my orders and get me the information I asked for. Understood?"
Martin got the hint and quickly dropped the subject of Amber, nodding once to show that he understood. He knew better than to push his luck with Alexander when he was in this mood. "Yes, boss," he said simply, his own expression becoming more serious.
"I'll get right on it."
Alexander leaned back in his chair, his gaze still fixed on Martin. He knew that he could count on his right hand man to get the job done quickly and discreetly. "Good," he said gruffly.
"I want that information as soon as possible. And I want it to be thorough and accurate. Is that clear?"
Martin nodded again. "Crystal clear," he said, his tone business-like. "I'll get right on it and have it for you as soon as I can." He was itching to know more about Amber and why Alexander was so interested in her, but he knew better than to ask. Instead, he stood up from his seat, ready to leave and get started on his assignment.
As Martin stood up, Alexander raised a hand to stop him. "One more thing," he said, his voice taking on a menacing tone. "I don't want anyone else knowing about this. This information is strictly confidential. Understood?"
Martin's heart rate quickened slightly at the mention of secrecy, but he schooled his features to remain neutral. "Of course, boss," he said. "I won't breathe a word of it to anyone." He met Alexander's gaze, his expression serious. "You have my word."
Alexander's tone was sharp and threatening, and it was clear that he meant every word. "You won't get the chance to breathe if you dare to breathe a word of this to anyone," he repeated, his eyes narrowing. "Do I make myself clear?"
Martin swallowed hard, feeling a cold shiver run down his spine. He knew that Alexander wasn't messing around when he got like this. "Crystal clear, boss," he said, his voice a little shaky. "I won't say a thing, I swear."
After that brief but intimidating exchange, Martin didn't need to be told twice. He quickly rose from his seat and made a hasty exit from Alexander's office. He knew better than to linger around when his boss was in a foul mood. Once outside, he let out a slow exhale, his mind still reeling from the encounter. "That man gives me the creeps," he muttered to himself as he walked down the hallway.
He shook his head and began to make his way back to his own office, already mentally preparing himself for the task of digging up information on Amber. As he walked, he couldn't help but wonder what it was exactly that Alexander wanted to know about her. "There's something fishy about this whole thing," he thought to himself. "But I guess I'll find out soon enough.
As he stared at the picture of Amber on his phone, Alexander couldn't help but feel a sense of attraction towards her. A small smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he studied her face. He couldn't deny the fact that he found her attractive, but there was something more that he couldn't quite put his finger on. It was as though there was something deeper, something that drew him in and made him want to know her better.
He put the phone down and leaned back in his chair, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "What is it about you, Amber?" he murmured out loud, his thoughts still preoccupied with her.
"Why can't I get you out of my head?" He knew that he should focus on more pressing matters, but he found that he couldn't shake the feeling of intrigue that she had stirred in him.
He had always been a man who prized his control, his ability to keep his emotions in check. But there was something about Amber that threatened to derail his careful composure. Every time he thought of her, he could feel his heart rate quicken ever so slightly, his mind filled with visions of her soft features and intense eyes. It was a feeling he wasn't used to and it both excited and terrified him.
