Chapter 79

"I hope it's good enough for your mother."

"What has she got to do with what you wear?"

"She doesn't like me or thinks I'm good enough for you."

He turns her around to face him, cupping her face in his hand. "My mother wouldn't like any woman I marry and I don't give a damn what she thinks. Little does she know that I'm the one that is not good enough for you. I wonder what your parents will think of me when they fly in for the wedding."

"You're rich, they'll love you."

"Are they really that self-centered?"

"I'm afraid they are, they were always complaining that they didn't have enough money and wished they were rich. Be careful around my mother's husband, he'll try and get you to invest in one of his stupid schemes." She let out a sigh as she slipped on her shoes. "I guess we better go."

Party: The only people she knew at the party was Nelly and Robbie and a few others. Apparently, Ryan's father had invited some of his business associates. So Ria pretty much hung out with Nelly.

Rose, Ryan's mother came over to her followed by a man. "Could we have a private word with you dear?" she asked, looking at Nelly and motioning for her to leave.

"I'll just go see what Robbie's doing," she said and walked away.

"This is our lawyer Mr. Clark, he specialties in marriage contracts and prenups. If you will agree to sign one before you marry my son he can have one drawn up in a day or two."

She was shocked and taken back by this, Ryan never mentioned anything about wanting a prenup. "Ryan has not asked me to sign one. Does he know about this?"

"My son is blind when it comes to you, it's like you've cast a spell over him. I know women like you who are only after one thing."

"I love your son, I'm not with him for his money."

"Then if you love him you won't mind signing one."

Ryan was talking to another man when he noticed his mother and her lawyer talking with Ria and she looked upset. Excusing himself he walks over, taking hold of her arm. "Is there a problem here?"

"Your mother wants me to sign a prenup."

"What?" he snapped, looking at his mother. "I already told you and father I wasn't going to have Ria sign one. How dare you harass the woman I love and going to marry. Is this why you threw us a party so that you could bully her into it?"

"Son, she could take you for everything you worked so hard for. I was only trying to look out for you."

Ria threw up her hands. "Fine, if you want me to sign one I'll be more than happy to. So go ahead and make one up. As I said, I love Ryan, not his money."

"No," he shouted, turning to his mother. "She'll not be signing one so don't mention it again. I'm a big boy and can take care of myself. If you continue with this you don't have to bother showing up for the wedding. Thanks for the party but we're going home."

"Son, you've only been here a few hours, what about our guests?"

"They're your friends, not mine." taking Ria's hand they walked away, said goodbye to Robbie and Nelly and left the party.

Once they got in the car he took her hand and kissed it. "I'm so sorry for the way my mother was behaving. She had to right to come after you like that."

"Ryan, I really don't mind signing a prenup."

"I know sweetheart but I mind. You're going to be my wife for the rest of our lives and I won't start off our marriage with one. I trust you and besides when we're married what's mine will also be yours. Now I won't have any more talk of a prenup. Let's go home, I need to get you undressed and into bed."
