Wake Up

Just like that I woke up, it felt like someone was pushing with all their might on my chest. My very breath, I tried to talk, tried to scream but there was nothing. Then I realized that I couldn't see, my eyes wouldn't open. As hard as I might, they wouldn't listen to me. The very little that I could open all I could see was this bright light. But this light didn't come from any lamp or hallway light. It felt like it was alive, moving in every direction that I tried to look.

As I kept trying to open my eyes, the pressure on my chest started to increase. Now instead of a person it felt like someone was stacking bricks. As the pressure continued I started to feel something, something on the bottom of my feet. Something long and sharp tapping on the bottom of my soles, even though I couldn't see I could imagine them. I felt what could only be described as claws crawling up my feet. Tapping with it's long nails as it rubs it's rough hand up my legs.

Once they got to my hands they curled around my fingers, digging its nails deep within my flesh. I opened my mouth to scream but to no avail. With my mouth open so wide that I thought I would dislodge my jaw, I felt its weight shift, leaning down next to my ear. I tried to move, tried to scream, to fight my way out of this creature's grasp. All I could do was lay there, with its heavy breathing in my ear. The breathing was getting heavier and heavier, like it was preparing to finish my off. But it spoke, whispered, "w… .p", I couldn't understand what it said. Then it breathed in and with a great roar yelled "WAKE UP!!!".

At that moment I bolted up drenched in sweat, I looked around but all I could find was my wife looking up at me from our bed with the most terrified face.

"Honey, are you ok? You were screaming in your sleep" she asked as I was still trying to get my bearings.

"Yes, just a bad dream, that's all. Go back to sleep, let me just get a drink."

As I walked back into our bedroom, my blood went cold. As I looked I saw that there were scratches in the bed, blankets and sheets ripped. As I scanned my bed my gaze fell on my wife. I dropped to the floor, back crawled to the corner of the bedroom. As I sat there shaking with my head in my hands trying to cover my ears as a whisper grew louder from where my wife was laying.

"W… .."

"W.k. .p"

"Wak. Up"

"WAKE UP!!!!"
