He then put down the unfinished bow first and took the rope just besides him. He inspected it first to see if it was free from defects or weak points. After a while, he saw that it was good.
The next step would be to split the rope into strands. He gently unwound and separated the rope into individual strands.
This could be done by untwisting the rope, being careful not to break the fibers.
After that, he gathered the individual strands into a bundle. The number of strands would depend on the desired thickness and strength of the bowstring.
More strands would create a stronger bowstring, of course.
When that was done, he made sure the strands were evenly aligned and of equal length. The next step would be to twist the strands together.
He started by twisting two strands together tightly. Twisting them in one direction to create a tight, cohesive twist.
