Chapter 6 – Sadao's plan

After sealing the deal with Sadao, a satisfied Utaha finally decided to leave. Even though she wanted to dig up some interesting information from him, it seemed impossible after their recent interaction. However, the name he mentioned caught her attention.

Megumi Kato.

Undoubtedly, it was the first time she heard that name. Besides learning that this person was a student at Toyogasaki Academy from him, she knew nothing else about her. Nevertheless, it wasn't crucial. What mattered was the kind of person she was, making the seemingly "stingy" guy take notice. Even Utaha Kasumigaoka, a beauty herself, was treated with disdain by him. But this girl, whose name she hadn't even heard before, not only made him think about approaching her but also considering treating her—talk about a stark contrast in treatment.

Regardless of her curiosity, she decided to leave these messy thoughts for tomorrow; after all, it was still Sunday. As she pondered these chaotic matters, an indescribable "sign" caught her eye.

Although she didn't understand the meaning of the characters on this "sign," Utaha was rendered speechless. After contemplating for a while, she muttered to herself, "This silent demeanor... the shopkeeper of this place can only be him, no other possibilities... So, was he just lying earlier?"

Sadao was naturally oblivious to Utaha's thoughts. Even if he knew, he wouldn't care. The fact that he wasn't a student at Toyogasaki Academy wasn't something he could hide for long. Discovering it wasn't a big deal. Instead, he focused on what to eat for dinner.

Thanks to the unexpected guest, his two-meal plan had failed. Now, with her departure, he had to think about how to handle dinner. However, this consideration didn't take much time. Soon, he decided on the menu.

After dealing with everything, Sadao relaxed again. With Utaha gone, the hustle and bustle in the shop disappeared completely. For him, this wasn't a bad thing. Such an environment was perfect for an afternoon nap, wasn't it?

With this thought in mind, his consciousness slowly drifted into the realm of dreams.

When he woke up, the sky had turned yellow, and the shop had darkened considerably. Rubbing his blurry eyes for a moment, Sadao finally recalled the events. Although the business wasn't great on the first day, he didn't mind. After all, he opened the Chinese restaurant just to idle away his time. Whether the shop could make money or not was something he couldn't be bothered about.

Though, there was one thing he still dared not easily conclude.

Does the world have destined protagonists?

For Sadao, this was an almost unsolvable question. At least, with the current lack of information, he couldn't arrive at a satisfactory answer. In this sense, approaching Megumi Kato, the female lead, while the situation was unclear, wasn't a wise choice.

However, the appearance of Utaha Kasumigaoka brought a glimmer of hope.

Thus, a plan unfolded in his mind—one that didn't directly confront the protagonist but could achieve the goal of seizing the opportunity. However, no matter how well the plan was laid out, its success depended on the subsequent developments. Regardless, Utaha took the bait.

Now, it was time to see if the good-natured saint, Megumi, would take the bait.

If both of them took the bait...

Well, the subsequent development would be much simpler. Sadao just needed to find ways to bring about the conclusion of the spin-off work "Love Metronome" for the side character Megumi Kato. With that, Megumi Kato, who never met Tomoya Aki, would no longer be a side character but a completely ordinary girl!

Even though this girl isn't some simple character, the difficulty level of winning her over... honestly, it's not that high. While actually winning her over might take some time together, the thing is, does Sadao lack time? Not at all!

Of course, all of this depends on whether Megumi is willing to accept Utaha's invitation. As long as she accepts, Sadao is confident that he can capture her with his cooking skills and turn her into a regular customer at his restaurant.

Thinking about this, Sadao silently cheered himself on. His happiness in the latter half of his life is all up to her.

"Meow—"

Just when he was pondering about some random stuff, there came a somewhat fragile meow from nearby. Sadao was taken aback for a moment, then a slender and weak-looking kitten came into his view.

What is this little cat doing?

In his moment of confusion, somehow, that frail little cat suddenly opened its mouth and lightly tugged at the hem of his pants with its teeth.

Sadao was surprised by the kitten's reaction. Could this cat be enlightened or something!?

After contemplating for a while, he decided to rescue this thin and weak little cat. Judging by its gentle behavior just now, this cat might be somewhat humanized. In this sense, Sadao and this little cat seemed to get along unusually well.

"Since I'm going to keep you, let's give you a name first..." After making up his mind, Sadao stopped thinking about other irrelevant matters.

In just a short while, he made a decision, "Let's call you Ruri..." Saying this, he lifted "Ruri" up high and greeted it with a smile, "Nice to meet you, let's get along from now on!"
