I set the young girl down with Inigo and M'rissi at one of the inn tables when she starts to stir from her sleep, looking up at us in confusion before a look of mistrust crosses her face before she quickly hides its it with a false cheery smile.
"Ummm... Hello, mister... How did I get here? What happened to the evil man in the sewer?" The little girl asks, with a slight british accent as she tries to act oblivious to what has happened.
"He's gone, no need to worry about him any more... But, the important question is who are you and why was someone so young so far down in the sewers?" I ask her, trying get her to open up as I motion for Inigo to go and bring her some food.
"That's... Good..." The girl says, in deep thought for a moment before continuing.
"I'm Olette... My uncle left me here saying there was supposed to be an orphange here that could take me in, but I couldn't find anything about it... S-so..." Olette says, starting to tear up and cry a little as she hides her face in her hands.
"Shhh... It's okay, it's alright, now." I reassure her by patting her back as she turns to me and gives me a big hug.
"Thank you, so much, Mister! sniffle" Olette says as she buries he face into my side, near my traveling pouch as I faintly feel it lighten up as she backs away quickly wiping her face with her sleeve and preparing to leave before Iniggo returns with a plate full of fresh food causing her to pause as we can all hear her stomache grumble.
I resist the urge to smile at her most recent pickpocketing attempt as I call out, pretending to be oblivious, "Leaving so soon? We just got some food, care to join us for a meal?" I offer her, pulling a serving of food to her plate, where I can almost see the gears turning in her head as she tries to figure out what angle I'm playing and whether or not to trust the food offered to her.
"I-I don't know... Is it really okay to join you all? I wouldn't want to bring you any trouble, maybe if I just take a little to go?" Olette offers after some thought, trying to appear small and meek as she tries to figure out a way to get the food and get out before someone recognizes her from her past time as a cut purse.
"Ah, I'm sorry, but the food here is for everyone at the table, and only those who sit and eat properly can enjoy it." I explain to her as I pull her plate over to me, making Olette hesitate even more.
"Fluffy-" M'rissi starts to question me before I give her a look and start cutting into the large roast Inigo had brought over.
"Mmm... This looks sooo~ good, I can't wait to eat it all up." I say as I take a bite of the roast, while cutting it into little squares as Olette stares at the food hungrilly before making up her mind to sit back down as I hear her stomache start to growl.
"I would like to have some, if that wouldn't be an imposition, Mister." Olette asks, as I already have the roast cut up for her, and pass her the plate as she starts to eat it up.
"Not at all, dig in, kiddo." I tell her as I walk off to order a little more food for the three of them, before coming back over, setting it down on the table.
"I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, but the orphanage actually moved out of town. Luckily, we're actually heading back to the new orphanage on our trip back, and we'd be happy to escort such a talented cut purse there." I tell her with a slight smirk and a knowing look, causing Olettte spit up a sip of water she had been taking.
"Cough, cough, sputter~ Y-you knew?! B-but why bring me here and feed me?" Ollete asks in shock after clearing her throat, making M'rissi and Inigo smile at her reaction and my 'uique' way of adopting children.
"Because I can? It's not like you took much, and I've got a sensitive spot for kids who are down on their luck." I explain to her with a shrug.
"Wwwell... I guess I could hitch a ride with you, since you helped the old soldier in the sewer, so you can't be as bad as that other guy... Urgh. Alright, I'll go with you, but only if I get to keep the money." Olette says shrewdly after she ponders whether to join us or not, glaring at me intently as she sits up straighter and her previous childish demeanor all but gone.
"No problem, enjoy your meal, while I take a walk around." I tell her as I leave the three to their meal and continue looking around for recruits for Helgen.
"Yesss... As you can see, there are many of my kind here in this town. They all said 'Come to Riften and make yourself a new life here.' So, Wanan-Dun comes." An argonian named Wanan-Dun, equipped with a giant ebony blade that sticks out as a sharp contrast from his relatively plain leather armor, with a faint red pattern across his scales and a faint yellow hue on his protruding horns.
"And for what? There is nothing for me here.~ What would Wanan-Dun do? Work in the fishery? Join the thieves? I'm not a thief, and I hate fish." Wanan-Dun bemoans his fate while having another drink of his meed.
I smirk a little at his name before straightening my face beneath my mask as I reply, "You happen to be in luck. I'm here looking for experienced guards for Helgen. Have you seen our notice?"
"Yes, finally, you came! That's the only reason I no leave this place, but Wanan-Dun was about to give up on seeing you." Wanan-Dun exclaims in relief.
"Excellent, what experience do you have in combat?" I ask him as he turns in his bar stool.
