When Lich left, he didn't wake up but started a second lesson that day. For his Serf 9 advancement, he needed to register the Internet as a secondary dao. It was a simple process and it gave access to his vr pod world for others to come and get murdered by him. Though the access would only be granted when he was present and waiting for people to come.
