(Is this like one of those cliché isekai fanfics and anime.) I thought with suspicion as I took a seat.
"So what's the catch." I ask the deity with curiosity.
"Well before we discuss any further let me introduce myself, my name is Robert Bartholomew but you can call me Rob." He said in a kind professional tone.
(What the actual fuck! Am I in a fanfic, he mentioned fiction before so-) I thought as I panic mentally.

Right after I introduce myself to the mortal in front of me I see him panic and I started to wonder why.
(Why is this mortal panicking I just said my name is Ro-… oh yeah now I understand.)
I looked at the mortal with a deadpan expression and sighed.

(-hat is the meaning of life if I am a character in some shitty ass bo-) My thoughts were interrupted when I heard a sigh.
I look at the deity and notice him looking at me "No you are not in a fanfic or whatever you were thinking it's only a coincidence that my peers call me Rob." He said in a deadpan tone.
"Did you read my mind or something?" I ask surprised.
"No, I just realized the coincidence after seeing your expression." He said in an irritated tone.
"Well now that we're done with pleasantries let's get down to business." He said in a serious tone.
"Ok, so I'll once again ask what's the catch." I said with curiosity and irritation.
"Well in exchange for a second chance at life for you and your brother, you must work for me." Rob said mysteriously.
"Yeah before I accept this deal, would you please elaborate on what you mean by 'I must work for you' instead of being cryptic as fuck." I said with irritation.
"Good you're not dumb to instantly agree; well you should be well informed about the plague by now right?" He said with a hint of anguish at the mention of the calamity.
"Yeah you explained it well enough to get the basic Idea" I answered.
"Well, I may have told you this before but the plague is spreading through your multiverse and once it's done with your multiverse it will spread to other multiverses." He said grimly.
"To deal with this threat we assign blessed humans to dimensions so once the plague were to reach the dimension they can inform their corresponding deity so we will be able to seal it away from said dimension while it is weak." He paused letting me process.
"Now if you accept the deal you and the little one will become a 'sentry' and be given something akin to the AI systems you see in those anime, manga, fanfic, etc. that will help you travel the omniverse and give you powers so you won't die while on an assignment." Rob said with seriousness.
"I accept though I've got a few questions regarding these 'sentries' and their duties." I asked the deity.
"Of course fire away! I'd be a bad employer if I don't allow my employees to ask questions." He said merely while clapping.
"Well how does the system work do we get the powers instantly or does it happen over time?" I asked Rob.
"I can't say for sure as each system can vary from it being a non-combat one to a combat one, each system has its different ways of making you stronger but it's usually over time through the host's efforts. But one thing is certain the AI system that will choose you is the most compatible one out of the millions so it won't be difficult for you to adapt to it." Rob answered me sagely.
"Well you see you said that the omniverse is the collection of reality and fiction so would you care to explain what you mean by fiction?" I asked with confusion.
"Well, you see all the inhabitants of Earth in your multiverse have a special aspect that no other living being with conciseness has throughout the omniverse, excluding a few exceptions." He said mysteriously.
I raised my eyebrow with suspicion and spoke out in confusion "And what would that be? Besides our intellect, I don't think there's anything else that's unique about humanity.".
"Well, you see this special aspect is the ability to bind with a system." He said as if it was a miraculous thing.
"Are these systems really that special?" I asked with confusion.
"Of course, they are! The strongest systems out there under the right conditions could help a mortal reach the league of weak deities!" He shouted surprised.
"All right systems are strong but what do they have to do with fiction?" I admitted surprised by his outburst.
"Ok it will take too much time to explain it perfectly because something just came up." He said as he abruptly stood up with a serious look on his face
"So to wash it down a majority of shows, anime, books, games and etc. that exist in your universe are actually real and have their own multiverse. The reason why they are shown in your multiverse as anime, movies and etc. is because of the deity of systems. He believed that once a sentry was to traverse into the omniverse they would have a higher chance of success and survival due to the familiar environment and that it would make the offer of becoming a sentry a bit more tempting." He said in a hurried tone whilst making some hand signs.
Suddenly a circle-like distortion appeared in front of Robert "Once you enter this portal a system will choose and bond with you and then you will be transported to another world for you to watch over." he said hurriedly.
"I'm sorry that I won't be able to answer any more questions but once I'm free we can have another chat." He said apologetically.
"Wha-" Before I could finish my 'what the fuck' he created another portal and jumped through it as it closed leaving me alone in the library.
(What the hell just happened?) I said as I looked at the distortion that I now know as a portal with hesitation.
(Might as well follow boss's orders.) I said as I jumped into the portal.
I screamed out in pain as I felt my body stretch apart back and forth "OOOOOOHHHHHHHHH SSSSSSSSHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!".
