Chapter 219: Dinner at a French restaurant

When Bai Yi Yang was settled on one of the guest room by Grandma Cui, she immediately wash up and get ready to go out. This is because they won't be eating at home today, they are eating out at a French restaurant.

Bai Yi Yang changed into a white long sleeve high neck shirt then top it with a baby blue plaid tweed dress, as for her hair, she tied it onto a ponytail with big ribbon.

"Ah, so pretty." Grandma Cui said when she saw her come down the stairs. Bai Yi Yang and her siblings are good looking, but when she dress up, she look more like a doll. Even her granddaughter who met Bai Yi Yang last time praise the girl.

"Grandma, you are teasing me." Bai Yi Yang laugh.

"It's true. You don't know how out granddaughter Mia complain after seeing you siblings, she said that we didn't pass the best genetic to her and her siblings." Grandma Cui laugh.

Bai Yi Yang and TongTong also laugh after hearing this. Well, the Cui family is really not bad, what more they are very well maintained, even Grandma Cui look younger than her real age.

They had a good chat while waiting for Old man Cui returning from the company. After picking her up, the driver went to pick Old man Cui. After this, they will head straight to the restaurant. At around 7.45 pm, their car arrived and the driver sent the three people to the French restaurant.

"This way." The waiter immediately ushered them to a seat when they arrived. Seems like they are a regular here, even some of the diners seems to recognise the old couple. Grandma Cui hold onto Bai Yi Yang as they walk to their table as they chatted. Being watched by people can be a bit overwhelming, but Bai Yi Yang doesn't feel like that because of Grandma Cui.

"This place has good food, we have been coming here for years since it opened." Grandma Cui tell Bai Yi Yang.

"En, this place look good." Bai Yi Yang said as she look around. There are live musicians playing elegant musics. Well, luckily she dress up a bit, everyone who came seems to have done the same too.

"The people coming here recognise me and the old man, they may be a bit curious about you that's why they are looking but don't worry about it too much." Grandma Cui said again, almost whispering.

"En, I don't mind." Bai Yi Yang smile. Grandma Cui smile back. For first timer, this situation can be a bit overwhelming. When they are finally seated, some people still glance at their table but more discretely. When the old couple met eyes with them, they will nod at each other and pretend nothing happened.

Grandma Cui glare at Old man Cui, it was him who wanted to bring the girl here today, he didn't think carefully that things like this may happen. What if they make the girl uncomfortable? She may not want to come over again.

"Yatou, the food here is delicious, other thing, don't worry about it." Old man Cui laugh to lighten up the mood.

"En, no problem. Grandpa, what is delicious here?" Bai Yi Yang smile. Actually it is uncomfortable, but only the beginning. If they wanted to look, then look. The Cui family must be some kind of 'celebrity' in City Nan, many people seems to know them.

"There are a few that we always ordered when we came here. Should I make the order?" Old man Cui ask.

"Yeah. Grandpa, you know this place the best." Bai Yi Yang nod. Old man Cui grinned proudly and Grandma Cui sneered at him.

When the waiter come, Old man Cui ordered a bunch of dishes, they are Gratinéed Scallops, Veal Chops with morels, wilted lettuce, oysters and Garlic-Parmesan Sauce, Tomates Farcies which is a tomatoes stuffed with foie gras, duck confit and chanterelles and lastly is Honey Glazed Roast Pork with Apples.

Old man Cui wanted to ordered more but there is only 3 of them eating. They may not be able to finish it.

"Ah, you love tart right? Let's have Pear Tarte Tatin too." Old man Cui add in the end.

"Very well, would you like to open some wine bottle too Sir? The waiter ask.

"Not today. Just some plain water." Old man Cui said. The waiter bow politely before leaving.

"This place is really open since 1988?" Bai Yi Yang ask. If it is 1988, then the old couple must have been coming here for a long time.

"Yeah. It's a very old place, there are a lot of memories too." Old man Cui said.

"When our son got married, we also held his a celebratory dinner here." Grandma Cui said smiling.

"How can it stay open for so long and maintain the reputation?" Bai Yi Yang ask. It has been more than 20 years ah.

"Actually it wasn't that easy, it changed owner three times. When it first open, there is not much restaurant like this so it was very famous, when it comes to the second owner the business was in crisis, only depending on old customers for it to get through, when the third owner take charge that's when the restaurant finally pick up pace once again. Even if the food has always been delicious, if a restaurant cannot follow along the changes and adapt, it won't be able to thrive." Old man Cui said.

"Is the owner a local?" Bai Yi Yang ask.

"Yeah. An old friend, he let his young grandson handle this restaurant, it it is him alone, this restaurant will go downhill." Old man Cui laugh, Grandma Cui also smile. Seems like they know the owner quite well. Well, people with money usually flock together. She remember when she went out with Zhang Yong, he have friends everywhere.

When they were chatting, there are some people who come over their table to exchange words with the old couple.

"Ah, she is a close relative. Yi Yang, this is Chairman Chi and Madam Liu." Grandma Cui answer when the other party ask.

"How are you Chairman Chi and Madam Liu?" Bai Yi Yang greet politely.

"Good, good. No need so formal, just call Aunt Liu is enough." The middle age lady answer with a small laugh. She have been observing the attitude of the Old Cui couple to this girl and they seems to be very close, no matter who this girl is, she mustn't be look down upon.

"Yes." Bai Yi Yang answer with a polite 'yes'.

The couple didn't stay long to chat. They are not fool, it is rude to interrupt other people even if they wanted to curry favour.

After the couple, there are 2-3 more people who came over in the period of waiting for their dishes. The process is the same, when they ask Grandma Cui will speak and introduce Bai Yi Yang to them, not much information but not rude too.

The last couple who came over is finally someone that caught Bai Yi Yang attention, someone from the Zhang family, Zhang Yong's family.

"Old sir, this junior has heard a lot about you, my name is Zhang Mu. I heard my nephew Zhang Yong have met you before, now, it's my turn to meet a legendary figure like you." The man called Zhang Mu said. He seems to be only in his mid 30s, so should be one of Zhang Yong's younger uncle. How to say this, his tone of wanting to please people is a bit too obvious, making people a bit uncomfortable.

"Old madam, I am Wang Qing, Wang family 3rd daughter, when I was young I have come over to the Cui Residence to play. It has been many years, don't know if you still remember me?" The one called Wang Qing 'attack' Grandma Cui while her husband talk with Old man Cui.

"Hello Young Madam Wang. It has been too long, my memory is also not very good." Grandma Cui still politely answer.

"It's understandable. When Ah Yong mentioned that he have been to your residence, I suddenly remember about this memory. Don't know when I can have the chance to come over again. Since Ah Yong is close to your family then our two family should came together some times." She said again in overly friendly manner. Her high pitch voice sounds a bit annoying too.

"Zhang Yong lad is a promising young man, he can go far." Grandma Cui praise.

"That's what I am saying. My eldest son is already 17 years old and he is not a bit like his older cousin, he keep saying that he wanted to go into the entertainment circle. Silly son, our family is obviously not in that field, our family business doesn't even cover that, we can't even help him.." Wang Qing said in meaningful tone while looking at Grandma Cui expression.

Who doesn't know that Cui family own the biggest News and Media company in City Nan, what more, they have many connection in this field. If they can use Zhang Yong's connection for their son, isn't that good?

"Grandma, I think our food is here. I am hungry." Bai Yi Yang said and clung onto Grandma Cui arm, her voice sounds a bit whiny. She is usually not like this, it's just that the situation is a bit awkward. This Madam Wang, isn't she a bit shameless to use Zhang Yong for his son's benefit? This will indirectly set a bad image of Zhang Yong in the Old Cui couple eyes.

"Silly child." Grandma Cui smile at Bai Yi Yang and pat her back.

"Ah, look at me." Wang Qing finally look at the pretty young girl properly. She have a chance to ask for a favour for her son but now everything went down to the drain.

"This young lady is..?" Wang Qing finally ask. The way she inch Bai Yi Yang up and down is really a bit rude, as if weighing her worth. Grandma Cui frown at this, she really dislike this Wang Qing now, she have met a few people like her. If not because of Bai Yi Yang good relationship with the boy from Zhang family, she wouldn't even gave them face.

"Sir, madam." The waiter who is bringing a tray stop at their table but stood aside.

"Our food is here, it is not suitable to keep chatting right?" Grandma Cui said to the couple, her tone is much colder than before and her expression doesn't look good. Seeing this, Old man Cui also clear his throat. It cannot be more obvious that they wanted the couple to get lost.

"We have been inattentive, hope both elders don't take it to heart. Then, excuse us." Zhang Mu said and pull his wife hand. Their table is not even near but they can make their way here.

"But how about our son matter.." Wang Qing doesn't seems to get the cue yet.

"Shut up.." Zhang Mu said as they are getting away.

"Serve the dish." Old man Cui sigh and instruct the server. The server nod and place the dish one by one on the table.

"If you met them next time, just don't mind them." Grandma Cui said to Bai Yi Yang when the server leave.

"Alright." Bai Yi Yang smile and nod.

"So young but her mind is already not clear, think this old lady is stupid and don't under her intention? If not because of Zhang Yong lad is your friend and I recognise his character, I won't even mind being courteous." Grandma Cui said with a humphed.

"Don't be in bad mood because of some outsiders. We come here to eat good food, if you really dislike it, then in the future no need to interact." Old man Cui said. Putting a scallop onto Grandma Cui and Bai Yi Yang plate.

Bai Yi Yang didn't say anything from beginning to end, she doesn't tell Grandma Cui to let it go too. The way that woman Wang Qing stare at her, she also don't like. But, as Old man Cui said, it's just a stranger who she may not even meet again in the future, why bother to ruin her mood because of insignificant people.

"En, the scallop is delicious, grandma try it. The tomato is fresh and the fillings is delicious." Bai Yi Yang said with a wide smile. Seeing her not affected make the old couple glad. They then continue to enjoy the dish.

Have to say, Bai Yi Yang is amazed at the chefs dedication to produce all these food which involves many stages and methods of cooking. Bai Yi Yang is confident that she can make it more delicious than this but the process itself will tire her out, she don't have the patience to follow all the steps just to make some of this dish.
