Chapter 20: Home sweet home

The rest of the journey to the village is smooth, the car ride to their house through the mountain road is also quite okay.

Bai Yi Chen was worried about the road not suitable for cars but it was fine.

Uncle Zhou even praise about the road still maintained.

Seems like the one who made this road really take consideration, even though it is a bit longer, the slope is not high at all, any cars can pass through here.

When he finally arrived in front of the large courtyard, only now did Uncle Zhou understand why they are rushing to replace all the tiles.

It was really quite bad.

Bai Yi Chen didn't want to trouble Uncle Zhou so he just put the things in front first.

Bai Yi Yang bring Uncle Zhou to the East house first, to the empty Main house and the two abandoned rooms at left and right side of the girls bedroom.

Then they head to the West house to see the boys room and another empty bedroom.

She tell Uncle Zhou one by one and explain the specific area that she wanted to put on new floorings.

"Uncle, you also can see that the kitchen is a mess. I planned to move the furnace, then replace it with kitchen countertops, install new sinks, build in cabinets above and below. The pipelines is also a mess, our washing machine is arriving in two days but there are still no proper pipelines. It was a bit hard to find shop that do this kind of services since I don't really know anyone. So for the flooring at the kitchen and laundry area, I think it should be done later, can it be done like that?" Bai Yi Yang said.

"Yatou, you should have told me sooner. I have this one friend. He previously work in the city but he returned to this town about a few years ago. At first he only do home to home job and take payments, but this year he with a few skilled friends opened a shop and even have two staff under them. He himself is very skilled in plumbing services while the other is a wiring expert. I have seen their skills and can guarantee for them." Uncle Zhou said feeling proud of his friends ability.

"Then is it possible if they came here tomorrow, not only plumbing but the wiring in this house is also too old fashioned. There are not enough electrical outlets." Bai Yi Yang said, feeling relieved that she finally found people who can do these things.

"I will contact them tonight, if they agree then I will let them follow the workers tomorrow." Uncle Zhou didn't promise for them.

"Alright, thank you Uncle Zhou. How about staying here for dinner?" Bai Yi Yang said.

"No, no, no. Maybe next time I will trouble you siblings." Uncle Zhou laugh.

The siblings send him out and wait until he drove away.

"Yay, we are finally home!" Bai Yi Fang ran around happily.

All of them sigh in relief, there really is no place better than home.

Bai Yi Chen is heading to the main house with the last plastic bags in his hand.

"Are you guys hungry?" Bai Yi Yang asked but there are no enthusiastic response from her siblings.

To be honest, she is also not very hungry.

"Just heat up the leftovers food. As for the chicken…" Bai Yi Chen said as he think.

Bai Yi Yang also think a bit.

"En..I know what to do." Bai Yi Yang finally nod after a while and head to the kitchen.

Bai Yi Chen then ask the 3 children to take a bath then went into the main house to prepare their clothes and tidy up the things they bought.

The living room in the main house is spacious so he only bring it to the side so that it won't get in the way. He didn't really know about the other things so he just took the new broom to sweep around the living room.

"Ge! Go take a look at the mushrooms? It should be half dried by now, can you take another canvas and cover it." Bai Yi Yang called Bai Yi Chen from the kitchen.

Bai Yi Chen look at the almost dimming sky. It won't be good if the mushrooms is exposed to moisture at night.

Bai Yi Chen abandoned his broom and went to the store to find something to cover the mushrooms. If they dried it for another day tomorrow then that should be dried enough. The sun exposure at the farm is very good.

Bai Yi Yang saw him through the kitchen widow with large folded canvas in his hand. This house owner aka her grandparents must have used that to dry paddy before, so they didn't lack canvas in the store room.

"Ge, just push the mushrooms on the side towards the centre a bit, then you can cover it. Don't forget to put heavy rocks on the corner so it didn't come off later." Bai Yi Yang said.

"Alright." The farming noob Bai Yi Chen said.

"There won't be insects and small animal right?" She asked.

"There should be but if it is properly covered than should be okay." Bai Yi Chen answer.

"En." Bai Yi Yang nod before going back to cooking.

The distance of the vegetables farm and the kitchen window is only about 15 meters, so it was easy communicating. Of course they can't directly enter the kitchen through the windows. The house is build higher than the ground, it is at least 1.5 meters above the ground level, if not more.

Other than reheating the few dish, she also put the chicken inside the clay pot, after putting some basic seasoning and the mushrooms, she let it boil.

She is sure that they wont be eating that much today so the chicken soup with mushrooms can be eaten tomorrow. Temperature at night over here is quite cold, she really doesn't need to worry that the food will go bad. What more, they heat the food frequently.

As for the promised grilled Matsutake mushrooms, she will ask Fang Fang after this if she want to eat it today or tomorrow. She actually put aside three big stalks of Matsutake mushroom just for them to eat.

They should also have a taste of expensive things like this going forward.

Just as she was wondering, the children came out of the bathroom with towels wrapping around them.

"Fang Fang, you still want to eat grilled Matsutake mushroom today? Or should we eat it tomorrow?" Bai Yi Yang asked.

"Fang Fang is still a bit full. Jiejie, eat tomorrow bah." Bai Yi Fang said.

"Alright, go in and change." The children ran to the main house to change and Bai Yi Yang continue cooking.

Not long after Bai Yi Chen voice can be heard from the main house, seems like he is scolding the children.

Whatever they have done inside there that cause him to get angry.

The scolding last for quite long before their house retain its calmness.

Bai Yi Yang just laugh lightly, they really must have done something worth scolding for Bai Yi Chen to scold them.

She will just wait to hear the gossip.

Then when Bai Yi Ling came out of the bathroom, she also asked Bai Yi Yang.

"Jie, what makes gege so angry?" She said.

"I don't know, you go in and find out." Bai Yi Yang chuckled.

Bai Yi Ling slow down her step as she return to the Main House, she is clever enough not to get involved with the trouble.

Bai Yi Yang didn't care anymore and served the food to the table. She scooped out rice and chicken soup into the bowl, as for the chicken flesh, they can eat it tomorrow.

"Time to eat!" She called towards the Main House.

Bai Yi Chen came out followed by the two children, Bai Yi Ling is still changing. The two children is whispering with each other behind Bai Yi Chen and they didn't dare to look straight at Bai Yi Yang even after sitting on their respective seat.

"What did they do?" Bai Yi Yang asked her older brother.

"You two tell your sister what good thing did you do just now." Bai Yi Chen said to the two children, his eyes is almost glaring at them.

"Jiejie, we are sorry. Just now me and Fang Fang is a bit curious about the things jiejie brought from the shop. So we try to open the box but accidentally tear it.." Bai Yi Mo said.

"Just that, why did I see your sister's tools are all over the place? You two are getting naughtier these days since we are being lenient to you." Bai Yi Chen said.

"We are sorry jiejie. We will not do it again." Bai Yi Fang also add to her brother apologies.

Bai Yi Yang sigh. This is indeed a problem that she need to settle. When she start working with the woods later, she need a workshop and place to put her tools.

"Xiao Mo and Fang Fang is indeed in the wrong today. Those tools are not something that you can play with, some of it is very sharp and it can easily injured you. Jiejie also spends a lot of money to buy them you know, if they broke we need to buy a new one, which is not easy." Bai Yi Yang said.

"So in the future if I catch you two playing with them again then I won't just scold you but punish you two with heavy punishment." She add.

"Yes. We promise not to do it again jiejie." The two pitifully said their promise.

They know that a promise is sacred, their sister never broke her promise this past few days, if she said she will then she will no matter what.

So they will also keep them.

Actually they were a bit too excited today that their naughty nature came out and messed up the things in the living room. Other than Xiao Ling, they haven't been scolded by the two eldest for a long time now so they became braver to cause trouble.

"Ge, in the future I will do a lot of wood work, do we have someplace that I can use as my workshop?" Bai Yi Yang asked Bai Yi Chen. Actually this is the main problem, even though the two children is wrong, tools like that shouldn't be put just anywhere inside the house.

"The one room at the East House near the entrance also a store room. We can clean it up as your workshop." Bai Yi Chen said.

Bai Yi Yang then remember that they have two store room in this house. They can find a lot space in this house actually.

"Then I will clean it up later since I planned to clean up the house too tomorrow."

Bai Yi Yang smile happily.

"You two will help your sister to clean up tomorrow as your punishment. I am not as soft as your sister, I will let Xiao Ling watch over the two of you, if you slack up then the punishment won't end just like that." Bai Yi Chen said.

"Yes.." The two answer politely.

"Ge, these two are getting naughtier, they deserve a punishment." Bai Yi Ling walk into the kitchen and sat down.She also saw the mess that the two caused in the living room. If it were her, she would have taken the rattan and hit their naughty hands.

"Alright, there are nothing damaged so we can just clean it up later. Eat first, it's not good to fight in front of food." Bai Yi Yang said. She personally pick some meat for the two little one, they have been scolded enough and they also will do their punishment tomorrow, should be alright.

"Eat, gege and Xiao Ling is just saying this so that you two won't become bad kids that nobody wants to befriend with." Bai Yi Yang said.

"I don't want to be bad kid. Bo Yuan is a bad kid and nobody want to be his friends." Bai Yi Mo said as he pick up his chopsticks.

"I also don't want, they say Bo Yuan often hit other kids." Bai Yi Fang add in. She also knows Bo Yuan from the village.

"If you two continue to be naughty and not listen to words, then you may become like Bo Yuan."

Bai Yi Ling said. The two kids immediately behave and eat properly.

Bai Yi Yang smile secretly, taking other people child as example has always been used in educating children. This Xiao Ling is a master.

The dinner pass peacefully, they finish by almost 8.00 pm and right after that Bai Yi Chen offer to clean up. He also tell the children to return to the main house to rest.

Bai Yi Yang gladly accept and went to take a shower, they are still using the old product that is really not the best quality, but Bai Yi Yang was too lazy so the things they bought can be sorted out tomorrow.
