Chapter 158: Making props

After breakfast, the people did their own dishes carefully, afraid that they will scratch the countertop too. D.D let the rest do it and she with a few return to the living room. When they enter the living room, the cool air immediately make them feel refreshed. This house feels like a hotel, so comfortable.

"You all are done eating?" Bai Yi Yang ask and invite them to sit at the receiving guest area. Her siblings is sitting in front of the TV so she didn't invite the people there. That space can be considered their personal space.

"Done. Junior Bai, my brother and XingXing will take some items and bring it to the school. What do you think we can make here?" D.D ask her opinion.

"All the wooden structure we can do it here, if you trust me, I can do the verandah, wedding platform and altar and podium. As for the painting, I can leave it to you." Bai Yi Yang said.

"You wanted to do all that? The structure will be hard to make." D.D said.

"En, I know. Let me make a sketch." Bai Yi Yang stood up to enter her bedroom and took her notebook and pen. The Props team cannot help but look over the open bedroom too. Well, it's confirmed, Bai Yi Yang is rich. They almost mistaken the room to be a real luxurious hotel room. Even when after Bai Yi Yang come out and close the bedroom again, they can't help but compare their own bedroom at home to hers.

Bai Yi Yang made a sketch of the veranda and how she plan to make it. She also suggested the paint colour and some decorations that they can put to make the veranda looks much more realistic.

"Very good. XingXing and Shai Ming is good in painting, when we assembled it, it will look very good and realistic." D.D smile.

"Then you try make it. Since they won't have much time at the school workshop, let the team there do the small things bah." D.D instruct XingXing.

"Now that I am looking at it. I think most of the boys should be here doing the heavy work." D.D said.

"After we are done there, I will bring those who are free to come over and help." XingXing said. D.D older brother is their exclusive driver today, so they can move freely. After discussing the work distribution, D.D sort out the stuff that XingXing can bring over to school and most of the stuff are left behind.

Bai Yi Yang then bring the 5 people to the workshop. She introduced the tools to them and their function.

"This is too professional. We don't dare to use it." Shai Ming said. At most they only know how to use hand saw then wood glue, the simple thing.

"I see, then I will make this. You all can cut the plywood. Senior Wu and Senior Shai, can you help me bring over the wood from the vegetables farm. This wood that we ordered is too small to be made as a base, the actors may feel insecure standing on this." Bai Yi Yangs said.

"Okay." The two boys nod and follow Bai Yi Yang to take the wood from the mushrooms drying platform.

"Are we allowed to use this?" Wu Zhou ask when he saw the stack of woods.

"En, they are abundant, we can use this." Bai Yi Yang nod. After that, the two boys returned back and forth to bring the wood.

Bai Yi Yang start working and the people didn't dare go near her when she is cutting the wood precisely. Now they know that she wasn't bluffing, she really is good in this. D.D trust towards her increased to another level. She even reported this things to Hua Chang Ying.

Xiao Mo and Fang Fang went to the village with the puppies while Bai Yi Chen also go to the orchard to look around. The Props Team is left in the house doing their work. They all stay under the corridor when the sun become stronger.

Bai Yi Yang saw that they are feeling hot so she open the Main house door ajar, turn on the air conditioning, took the table fan from the storage room and let the team work in front of the Main house.

"Yi Yang, you are our saviour." Shai Ming said. Don't know when he already stop calling Bai Yi Yang junior this and that.

Bai Yi Yang finished assembling the verandah in no time. The verandah is 2.5 meter above ground with stairs at the back. It's actually not really a verandah, it's like a high platform that look like verandah.

"Done?!" Shai Ming who have worked in the props team for years ask.

"Yeah, try going up." Bai Yi Yang said. There is no need to polished the structure since they will be painted on and decorated, so the work is very easy.

Shai Ming became the trial's subject and when he start climbing up the stairs, it is very stable, too stable. He was laughing as he look at them from above.

"Good, very stable. I can even dance up here." Shai Ming said. D.D also nod in satisfaction when she saw this. This year, they don't have to give excuses when the performance team wanted the prop earlier for training. They can throw this at them now. She took pictures of the structure with Shai Ming on top of it and send it to Hua Chang Ying, half bragging.

'Good for your team. I saw XingXing and the rest, they just entered the workshop when I meet them.' Hua Chang Ying text back.

'I give them the easy job. We are doing the big structure first so that your team can practice with the props early.' D.D reply.

'Good, thanks.' Hua Chang Ying said.

After the platform is done, D.D told them to start painting it. Bai Yi Yang provide them the canvas so that they won't stain the courtyard. Bai Yi Yang also enter the workshop again to do the stage for Scene 1 at the palace banquet. This stage is where the Prince of Verona will make his speech and where the main characters and their beloved partner had their dance. As for the rest of the cast, they just dance below. This same stage will also be used at Scene 5 during the wedding, only the background will be changed.

Bai Yi Yang pace is quite slow compared to when she was making furniture. This is because she doesn't want to show too much of her ability. What more, her work is much more rough, but she still finished the structure in no time.

"Eldest yatou, you here?" Bai Yi Yang heard her name being called and put down her work to look outside. She saw Bai Yi Chen and also Second Zhou, behind them is none other than Mr.Feng, Zhang Yong's head of staff.

Mr.Feng doesn't make appearance often too, he usually come on Saturday only, sometimes he didn't come too. The one Second Zhou usually meet is other person who Bai Yi Yang never directly talked too. Mr.Feng will usually meet her when he come, so Bai Yi Yang also come to talk to him first.

"Second uncle, Mr.Feng." Bai Yi Yang smile.

"Seems like you have a guest? Am I disturbing you?" Mr.Feng saw the young people in the courtyard. Every time he came, there will always be changes in the house, so he become a bit curious.

"My schoolmates. Mr.Feng, Second Uncle, come inside." Bai Yi Yang saw that Mr.Feng have the sightseeing attitude so she will entertain him today.

"Good, good." Mr.Feng nod happily. As expected, he is waiting to be invited inside.

While walking to the Main house, Bai Yi Yang said to D.D that she will be seeing the guests for a while, which D.D agree immediately. Bai Yi Yang has done a lot actually, she finished the stuff that is the hardest to make, it's fine for her to meet their guests. What more, the person who comes looks important.

Bai Yi Yang lightly chat with Mr.Feng about the orchard and the company, Natural Grocery. Mr.Feng is enthusiastic, he tell her the current situation at Natural Grocery and already asking about the dried mushrooms. The agreed picking time will be tomorrow, he asked if he can do it today, so that he can return to City Nan right away.

"Today?" Bai Yi Yang contemplate.

"Ge, is it enough?" Bai Yi Yang ask. Actually there is still one batch drying now.

"Enough. Mr.Feng can bring it today." Bai Yi Chen said, he did the inventory work so he know the exact amount they have now.

However, Mr.Feng is already distracted looking around the living room, especially the traditional furniture.

"Miss Bai, this craftsmanship is very good." Mr.Feng said, totally out of topic.

"Thanks. Mr.Feng, your drink." Bai Yi Yang said as she put the cold refreshing drink in front of Mr.Feng.

"Very good. Must have cost a lot of money right?" Mr.Feng said. Bai Yi Yang only smile and nod, indeed it cost a lot, cost a lot of effort from her.

"I will take the dried mushrooms today then." Mr.Feng said.

"Alright. My brother will be in charge today. You see, I still have some work to do." Bai Yi Yang smile then look at the Props Team.

"No problem." Mr.Feng nod and continue to look around.

"Mr.Feng take your time, I will go get busy." Bai Yi Yang smile and left the living room. She returned to the workshop house and Wu Zhou is inside, sawing the wood that she had marked on.

"Senior Wu, it's hard using the hand saw, you help me assemble after I finish cutting it." Bai Yi Yang said. Wu Zhou is already sweating heavily but he only finished cutting one, as Bai Yi Yang said it is not easy but he cannot just stay still doing nothing. As for the electrical saw, he don't dare to use.

"I wanted to try making it. I have a feeling that next year you won't stay in Theatre Club again." Wu Zhou said half joking half serious. Bai Yi Yang feel like she is caught, she really wanted to leave the Theatre Club at first, but making props is quite fun ah, so she may stay. What more, if she change club, she may need to find other roles. Her role in Theatre Club now is just right.

"Then I will teach you." Bai Yi Yang said. She explain how to use hand saw correctly. Instead of making small and fast movement back and forth, someone must make use of the length of the hand saw to full potential, they also must put strength onto the wood. Bai Yi Yang finished in only a few seconds, making Wu Zhou dumbfounded. His pride as a man is hurt.

"You try it." Bai Yi Yang hand over the hand saw. Wu Zhou try using the same method and it is way better than before.

"I am a fool." Wu Zhou said when he realised that he have been wasting his strength all this time.

"En, but we have a machine here, so, no need to do this." Bai Yi Yang smile. She proceed with cutting the wood using circular saw. Wu Zhou only look, he don't dare to use this, it can be dangerous to beginner.

"Have you done this for a long time?" Wu Zhou ask. Bai Yi Yang is too good at woodworking. She is surely trained.

"Not very long. I like doing this." Bai Yi Yang said. After that, they chat about the Theatre club, especially the props team. Wu Zhou also just joined any club, but then after joining the props team, he is quite good as making things so he continue to stay in the Theatre club. Bai Yi Yang can see her future in Wu Zhou.

At 11.30 am, Bai Yi Yang has finished the stage, with the help of Wu Zhou. Actually Wu Zhou make her works even slower but she can't let him do nothing either. As for the rest, they already started painting on the background scenery, and now they have another job which is to paint the stage.

"Yi Yang, can I go have a drink, I am so thirsty." Xiao Jia said. She is slumped onto the Main house stairs now.

"Bring water for me too." Shai Ming also said, he is now busy painting while D.D is holding the umbrella for him.

"Go ahead. Make yourself at home." Bai Yi Yang said as she approach D.D.

"Senior, how about lunch?" Bai Yi Yang ask her.

"Don't worry about it, my brother will bring lunch. It's just that, if you don't mind can we use your bathroom. We wanted to freshen up a bit and change clothes." D.D said. If the other girls didn't pester her, she actually don't mind not bathing.

"No problem, you can use both bathroom. We have one in the West house and the Main house." Bai Yi Yang said.

"Thanks." D.D smile, she appreciate Bai Yi Yang's hospitality so much. They actually have troubled her enough but she is still kind.

"Then, I will work for a bit more and stop at 12.00 pm, I need to cook for my siblings." Bai Yi Yang said.

"Okay, okay. We will all stop at 12.00 pm." D.D said aloud and everyone answer with a yes.

Bai Yi Yang enter the workshop again, just to make the sketch, then mark the wood, after that she come out and went into the kitchen to cook.
