Chapter 1 Leuitenant Catherine Smith

It was a bright, eventful and blissful sunset at the Carnival. 100 000's of citizens gathered in attendance to fulfill their taste for adventure. So to say, some of the countries prominent icons were there in attendant. Fireworks glistened across the red, peachy skies while the masses indulged themselves in the carnival's outstanding festivities. Wherein those hungry for terror had their appetites fulfilled with the Carnival's thrill rides. Though this day has marked memorable moments for many, their jubilation was short lived. A sinister force crept from behind the murky shadows, thirsty for power and wealth. And what better way would to fill their appetites as to raid a Carnival and exploit it, by sucking the joy from the masses.

Outside the Carnival's premises.

A black van haulted in front of the traffic lights. The driver impatiently taps onto the surface of the steering wheel, while fixing his eyes towards the light. Yearning for the red light to morph into a green one. Fortunately for him, it didn't take long as the traffic light morphed from red light to green. Without a second thought, he rammed his foot on the accelerator with force and turned the rotated the steering wheel to the right. In doing so, this caused the van to move in a westerly direction and collided through the premises of the carnival. The Van continued down its quest and parked at the centre of the parking lot.

A storm of thugs burst into the scene from the back door, all of them influenced by the same code, wearing black from head to toe while wielding

AR-15 pistols in their grasps. Their intrusion raised an alarm which in turn echoed throughout the park. Panic stirred in the hearts of the masses, causing confusion and chaos. People scurried up and down with their hands wavering in the air, and their screams wailing from their mouth's. The security staff tried their best to calm them down, fortunately they were able to do so with haste, while another unite of the staff persude the intruders.

Upon their arrival, the security staff started shooting at the thugs . One of the thugs was murdered in the process as a bullet pierced through his chest. The rest of thugs took refuge behind the cars and retaliated by shooting back at them

During the shoot out, the leader of thugs (Taylor) hid behind a red royce roll, he was accompanied by 2 of his men. He assended to his feet and shot 3 of the security staff, suddenly not far away, more of the security staff started shooting at him in turn he responded by taking refuge once again behind the car. One of his men looked at him and inquired, "what shall we do Taylor? Time is not on our side. If we not do something fast, we will loose casualties." Taylor reached for his pockets and pulled out a grenade. He pulled out the trigger and threw it in front of the them. An explotion erupted, which in turn decimated half of the staff. He looked up from the bonnet of the car to check if the coast was clear. When it was clear to proceed forth, he raised his voice at his then uttering a comand "Its clear! Go! Go! Go! Steal every car that you may find! We do not have much time the police will be on their way!" The thugs burst into the scene once again and scattered in search of nearby sports cars. As soon as they found them they shattered the windows of each vehicle and opened the doors of the vehicles from the inside. They got inside the vehicles and wired them. As soon as they switched them on, they drove off with the cars leaving the Carnival in a dire mess.

15 minutes later

Luitenant Catherine Smith and her forces began a thorough investigation throughout the entire park. The Carnival had to be put on hold while they interrogated the remaining security staff and the victims who had their vehicles have embezzled. Luitenant Smith was a young ambitious woman with brown hair, she was white in ethniticity and had blue ultramarine eyes. She was in her late twenties and was 5.6 feet tall.

After interrogating the staff, one of her collegeas accompanied her to Mr Jackson's office. Now Mr Jackson was the man who pulled the strings behind the productivity of the carnival. He was a man in his late 40's and had bits of brown hair protuding from the sides while envailing a smooth textured, shining scalp.

She held the knob and pressed it down, this then caused the door to open. Mr Jackson steadily assceneded to his feet and welcomed them. "So good of you to respond to my call with haste Luitenant. I must say, it's truly an honour to meet you." She replied with a smile. "No the honour is mine Mr Jackson." "Please do allow me," he insisted as he rushed to the other side of the table and pulled a chair out from the table. As she soon as she sat down, he gently tucked her in. "Why thank you." He then took a seat and interlocked his fingers while awaiting for her response.

"Tell me sir, how often does your park receive hostile attacks from incompetent thugs?" "Not often Luitenant." She then took out a notebook and began jotting down notes. "Tell me Mr Jackson. Have you heard of any recent reports from nearby neighbors concerning any heist?" He then stroke his goatee and answered her inquiry, "Not that I know off. Crime rates are usually rare in this neighborhood. Thus this is the first of a few heists that took place in a span of 3 years." "Interesting! So this is like the first heist in 3 years?" She inquired rhetorically while jotting down notes. Afterwards, she looked upward and asked another question. "Do you suspect anyone behind these ill-mannered deeds? Or for more reason why did they target your park? Do you think that it's an old foe who is eager to settle a score with you?" "...Well unfortunately I do not have adequate answers that will fit your shoe Luitenant. However sources say that these thugs steal expensive cars and sell them to the highest bidder." She closed her notebook and arose to her feet. "Thank your very much Mr Jackson for your cooperation. We will be on our way now. Right now we will check on the crime scene before our departure." Mr Jackson bowed his head and replied by saying, "No thank you Luitenant."

An hour later

Manhatten

Police Department

Catherine and forces returned to the department, She then journeyed to the commissioners office while accompanied by one of her closest colleagues, Daniel Ricker. Upon arriving at the 5th floor, she knocked on the door and anticipated for a response. "Come in!" She opened the door and walked inside, she then walked towards her his desk while he gently pulled a cigar away from his lips and smudged the tip of the substance on the ash tray. "Luitenant Smith, do tell how far is your case concerning the heist that took place at the Carnival. She took a seat and crossed her legs before, before speaking she took out of a clip of papers and enthusiastically read from them. "We've only retrieved minimum information concerning the culprits commissioner. However based on the reports that we have gathered, it seems as though that there is a certain pattern of car thefts taking course in different districts of the states..." She then flipped to the next page and continued, "Sources claim that these thugs aim to sell these expensive cars to the highest bidder."

Commission Wright then fooled around with his office chair by spinning at a 360 degree angle. There after he faced her and continued. "Have your retrieved anything tangible from the crime scene Luitenant?" "Yes of course Commissioner. The owners of the stolen vehicles have gladly given us the tracking reports. Now we just have to use our technology to our advantage by tracing the signatures of the vehicles. You would be thrilled to know that we will have the results by sunset." "No no no! Go home Luitenant. I'll hold someone else liable for tracking these vehicles." She arose to her feet and thanked him. He then pointed at her and said, "keep up with the good work. Your labour will cost you excellent rewards. Besides you need time off, you've been working tiresly throughout the week."
