Chapter 13: Get your rebellious a** out of here!

'something's wrong.....'. Levi could practically feel it.

The aether was causing the very space to tremble as a very loud but ominous sound could be heard.

*Whirr!!*

The aether started gathering to one location. Like moths to a flame, all the aether in the space gathered to one location where they seemed to be coalescing.

The aether particles moved swiftly towards what had now become one giant aether particle. It was a powerful and menacing looking particle of pure energy as it bulged, popped and even sizzled.

'w-what the hell is this?' Levi muttered, a single bead of sweat making it's way across his face. Was it even possible for ones conciousness to sweat?

'i-is aether supposed to do that?' he couldn't help but ask himself.

The powerful ball of energy looked.....unstable. Like it could burst and explode at any time. Levi however, wasn't very enthusiastic about finding out what that ball exploding within him would do.

The imposing ball of energy grew bigger, larger and more menacing each passing second and Levi suddenly felt a sense of urgency. His instincts were telling him that if thing were left as is, then it wouldn't end well for him.

'i need to do something about this....and fast'. Levi said as he calmed his mind to focus on the task at hand. It only took a few seconds before he managed to regain himself and his brain didn't allow a moment to waste as the gears in his head turned, in search of a solution to his current predicament.

'ok. So for some reason, probably related to this, I can't reach out to Grim. This...'thing' looks like it could blow up at any time and it seems like all the aether here is against me. Uh crap, this situation is f*cked up. Just my luck I guess'. Levi thought as he brainstormed ideas.

At this juncture, Levi couldn't even completely see the ball of aether as it was now a good quarter of the entire space and still growing larger. It had started emitting this light bursts of energy that didn't do much but startle Levi a little. It felt like a not so little prick.

'damn it! I gotta do something quick'.

'maybe I can try to control it...yeah. This is a fantasy world so sh*t like that should definitely be possible, it's worth the try at least'. Levi concluded as he held out his hands.

He concentrated on the feeling he got when he was absorbing the ambient aether. It was like a little tingling sensation at his neck.

Immediately he sensed a little of the sensation, he tried calling out to the rampaging aether. At first, only a few random particles came floating towards him but as time went on, that number increased.

Levi focused even harder, causing the number of particles in his side to increase exponentially in just a matter of minutes.

The giant particle, didn't seem to like this though as it let out another burst of aetheric energy. But this particular one though was by far, more powerful than the previous bursts.

'ugh!' Levi yelled as the burst felt like he had just been hit in the abdomen by a sledge hammer. His concentration shattered completed as he gasped for air in pain while holding his abdomen. His eyes turned a bloodshot red as he even coughed up...blood?

How was that even possible?!

(AN: fantasy world...XD)

After a few minutes, the pain subsided by a little bit. Levi was able to straighten up his posture as he turned to face the giant ball of aether, his eyes radiating a deep contempt.

He held out his hand to concentrate again, but another powerful burst stopped his second attempt in it's tracks.

'ack!!' the second time was even more painful than the last as blood immediately flew out from Levi's mouth. His body ached in pain as he held his mid section tightly. It felt like the burst had somehow bypassed his skin and dealt severe damage to his metaphysical innards.

After a few minutes, Levi got up again. His expression like that of a warrior who simply wouldn't accept defeat, his hate and bloodlust could be felt from a mile away as his teeth clenched out of rage and veins appeared on his forehead.

"If there is one thing I hate more than getting my a*s whopped. It's being controlled by someone, or something else. I may have let it slide in my past life, but that sh*t ain't going to cut it in this one". Levi voiced out as he made his way to the giant aether that had by now grown to twice its original size.

He walked to a certain distance then stopped. He was now mere meters away from the giant aether and as expected the area around it's exterior was dangerous. The aether fluctuations around it where very powerful as they dealt a significant amount of damage to Levi, but he toughed it.

'don't falter. This is merely all in my mind. Nothing here is real, everything is simply an illusion'. He told himself these words and they seemed to have the desired effect as Levi's perception of pain reduced by a significant amount. He barely felt the pain anymore as his mind had almost completely zoned all of it out.

"This is my body! You don't pay the rent so quit making a goddamn fuss!" Levi yelled as he held out his hands again. The aether began moving towards him.

He saw the the giant aether releasing burst after burst of energy, but Levi didn't even feel it. A smile drew on his face as he felt the giant aether get flustered.

Somehow, the aether was transmitting the ball's emotions to Levi. It seemed that the thing had some semblance of sentience and as such, Levi was able to discern it's present emotions.

The thing was spamming aether powered bursts at Levi, but the latter didn't even bat an eye. The giant ball was getting panicked and it was expending it's gathered up aether at a rapid rate. Levi was now controlling a good twenty percent of the aether in the space by now, so it wasn't able to constantly fully replenish it's reserves anymore.

The giant ball was steadily shrinking.

'hahahaha! I got you now'. Levi said inwardly. His smile grew as the giant ball shrunk by a third of it's former size.

The tug-of-war for possession continued on for a while longer. The steadily shrinking ball of aether was still using up it's reserves, while Levi simply ignored the miniscule pain he felt and continued taking over HIS own aether.

Sparks flew as Levi already had a good forty five percent of the total aether in the expanse under his control, but then something unexpected happened. The....thing spoke.

'you cannot control us! You are not worthy!'. The message was actually just transferred to Levi's mind.

"Huh?" He said.

'what the hell does that even mean?'. He inwardly asked.

'you are not worthy!'

'unworthy!'

'undeserving! You do not deserve us!'

The giant ball which had by now shrunk to the size of a single storey building repeated the words like an anthem, on and on and on and on.

Levi initially paid no attention to it as he had already subdued a majority of seventy percent of the rebelling aether, but the constant repeating of the words irked him.

Even in this life, someone or something, to be more accurate, was belittling him. He could endure it from others but suffering such from his own aether was an absolute no! He wouldn't stand for it!

"Shut the f*ck up!" Levi yelled then continued.

"This is my body! Get It? This body is mine! You don't get to tell me whether or not I'm worthy in MY own body!" He shouted in rage, his fury stemmed from the very depths of his being.

The aether seemed to respond to his will as it started gathering around him. The aether was coiling itself around it's master and Levi felt a powerful energy settle over him. His confidence increased and he thought that he could do anything.

"This is my body. I don't care if you are some sort of ancient and prideful power. As long as I'm your master, your rebellious a** will heel to me!" Levi said, his tone had changed from rage to pride. The aether merged with his voice and caused the very space to tremble. His eyes shone a bright blue.

"You know....back on my home world, there was this saying..." Levi spoke to the thing.

They said that pride goes before the fall....but you know what, I'm going to have to contend with that. As long as I have this, I won't ever fall". His voice radiated both confidence and power. For a few moments, he seemed like an actual god.

"I didn't want to do this, but if you force my hand then....I will gladly DOMINATE you". Levi said.

The powerful ball of energy literally fell apart at Levi's words. The aether dispersed and joined Levi's flow. He basked in the feeling, the aether finally felt like his.

"So.....what was that you said about me not being worthy?" Levi actually spoke to the aether.

'we apologize. We only said those words out of our own foolishness! Please have mercy!'. The aether practically begged, but Levi dismissed them.

"No more. I want to return to my world now". Levi said.

'at once master. The aether said and Levi felt his body lifting off the ground. The aether wrapped around him and he felt himself disappearing, he wasn't at all scared or panicked though. His expression was as if all of it was natural.

And just like that, Levi returned to back to the physical world.
