Inheritance : The Progenitor of DxD

Living my life as a normal teenager was more troublesome than I could have ever thought .Not only did something terrible happened to me one year ago, but after that incident I had to live in a town that was filled with the smell of fallen angel, devils and church slaves. And above all of those things, I had to keep a low profile so that I could keep my life intact and my bloody diet. * I don't own High School DxD or Strike the Blood Same thing with the cover. The only thing that I own are my OC and the changes that I would make. * Also this is a fan fiction aka an AU world so for the love of the God, don't start yelling that in the original that didn't happened or that it went completely different : I know and I don't care. Chapter 34

"Um, senpai…your nosebleed…is it really all right now?"

Inside the bus used to commute to school, Yukina, dressed in her school uniform, looked up at me as she inquired.

We decided to ride the bus to school for the first time since I've got my ass handed over by Koneko and to be fair I didn't want to walk after that.

She had a black gig case for a bass guitar over her shoulder.

There wasn't actually a musical instrument inside, but rather, the Lion King Agency's secret weapon—a frighteningly powerful spirit spear granted to her to eliminate vampires. As I watched Yukina walk with that dangerous object never escaping her grasp, my mood became progressively more sullen.

"More or less. Anyway, I'm the one at fault. Not that I intended to peek, mind you."

I apologized while rubbing my still-itchy nose.

The regenerative power of a vampire had healed the nasal bones broken by Koneko's kick, but the nosebleed itself took a while to stop. But thanks to that, I had not been assailed by any vampiric urges—perhaps I should have been grateful for it, but then again, what kind of sick bastard find pleasure from being beaten up?

"It's all right… I'm not upset about it anymore. But you should be more careful in the future, senpai. It would have been fine it was me who was naked, but not only did it was Koneko, you also took your time ogling at her as if she was one of the world's wonders. Sometimes I ask myself why I even fell for such an idiot like you, senpai."

With a sigh in her voice, Yukina also added.

"And I believe she didn't kick you with her full force."

Though her tone seemed to have resignation and embarrassment mixed in with it, she certainly gave off no hint of anger. A relieved expression came over my face. At least she isn't angry at me for what happened this morning and that's a relief.

"Th-that's good."

"Er, well…I knew from the start that you were a pervert, senpai, so it is my fault for letting my guard down. I should have locked the door or even call you to inform you that Koneko was at my home, maybe then we could have evaded this incident."

"Eh?"

"I should have not forgotten the possibility such accidental behavior might arise from you, senpai. You were the one that told me that you are not a simple pervert. Not to mention that even Koneko told me that you are a somewhat gentleman pervert if that even makes sense."

"Why are you acting like it's a given I'd peek?! That really was an accident, you know. I mean, I'm sorry about the mistake, but still!"

"Hee-hee." Yukina made a small laugh as she watched how flustered I was and how I tried to object.

Apparently, Koneko told her that she forgive me for what happened, but it seems that Yukina suggested that she should do some soul-searching just in case. She even tried to sound demure with an admonishing look on her face, my lips twisted a bit as I exhaled and patted my chest in relief. However, that wasn't the end of this incident…

"That's no good, Yukina-senpai. If you forgive this pervert so easily…!"

It was Koneko who broke the reconciliatory mood, inserting herself as if to shield Yukina from my perverted grasp.

Wearing the same uniform as Yukina, she looked up at me with anger apparent in her eyes.

Spread out beyond the bus windows was a cloudless blue sky with an ultramarine sea. As the rays of the morning sun mercilessly illuminated the inside of the vehicle, Koneko's shrill voice reverberated despite the restrained volume.

"I can't believe it. There's just no way. And how do you call barging into a girl's room without knocking an accident? Kojou-senpai, you're the worst. I told you yesterday after school that I may come to Yukina-senpai's home, didn't I?"

"Ah…now that you mention it, I do sort of feel like you might've told me that…"

My face grimaced as my mind show me a rather vague memory.

"But I didn't hear anything about you changing clothes at her place. What were you two doing at that hour?"

"Just stop with the weird imagination already senpai, geez! We were taking measurements for adjusting outfits for the sports festival. I told you about that yesterday. Koneko-chan asked me to help her, and I gladly help measure her."

But even being told this, I didn't have any grasp of the circumstances whatsoever, sometimes girls are way too enigmatic for the man's brain to understand how to respond to them.

"…What do you mean, outfits for the sports festival? It's all just gym jerseys, isn't it? And since when does our school have a sports festival?"

"No senpai. This isn't an official festival. It's more of a supernatural one where only the supernatural people in our school would compete for a prize."

Yukina babbled on, explaining details I'd never asked about. The sheer quantity of words that came out of Yukina's mouth was one of her few flaws, but at times like these, I was grateful that she was a quick talker. Compared to me, who would rather nod than talk, she was the best girlfriend I could ask for.

"Sports uniform…wait, Himeragi's wearing one, too?"

I raised my eyebrows doubtfully as I asked Yukina, who had a sullen look for some reason, yet at the same time, she looked a little flustered about something.

Though the sports festival was an unofficial school event for the devils, no rule said girls had to dress up to participate. I could understand Koneko, an active member of the Occult research club and a devil, running off to take part in this event, but I felt it was a bit unexpected for Yukina to volunteer to participate in an event like this. Now that I think about it, those two didn't mention what the prize was…maybe that's the reason why Yukina was participating?

A gloomy expression came over Yukina's graceful features as she spoke.

"I had intended to do no such thing, but I wasn't able to refuse…"

"No, no, Yukina-senpai, you couldn't decline, otherwise …"

Before Koneko could tell me more about why Yukina couldn't decline the invitation, the said person put a hand over Koneko's mouth forcing the poor girl to stop talking, muffling everything that she was about to say.

"Can I also participate?"

"I don't know senpai. You should Buchou or even Sona-kaichou if they are ok with you participating since… never mind. Ask them senpai."

"I see, then, if they let me then I'll participate."

"Can't be helped. Well, if you do get to participate, we definitely have to cheer you on. Right, Koneko?"

Nodding, in a good mood for some reason, Koneko sought Yukina's agreement.

For a moment, Koneko's eyes blinked in bewilderment. No doubt she never imagined she'd be made to cheer her senpai on, too. And while she didn't dislike the fact that she would be there for him, the fact that there are more than a few girls that would undoubtedly bring hell on earth to win this festival made her a little bit worried, even more so when the last event was a polo game.

However, with Yukina's radiant face turned toward her, it was no surprise she just couldn't say no.

"I suppose you're right…I'll cheer, too."

Lastly, Koneko made a sigh, as if conveying to me, her grudging surrender. Seeing the faint, strained smile on her face, I made a pained smile of my own, it wasn't my fault that Yukina was unconsciously trying to grow my already growing number of girlfriends with another one. A moment later, the bus arrived at the station they were heading to.

As usual, the three of them got out of the car at the same time, trading the usual formalities.

It was a common, everyday scene…
