"Petunia Ignis, my name is Admon Ravenstrong Dawnbringer. Ravenstrong is a surname given to me by my birth parents and has little meaning, but Dawnbringer is a surname I gave to myself because I wanted to see myself as a representation of light and hope. From today I declare that your name will no longer be Petunia Ignis. From now on, as my first apprentice, your name will be written in history as Petunia Ignis Dawnbringer."

When Admon uttered these words, both Petunia and Petunia's family and all the rest of the people were in great shock. It was one thing for someone to come under Admon as an apprentice, it was quite another to take his surname. However, Admon made it clear that he considered his [real] surname to be Ravenstrong, so the surname he had entrusted to Petunia only served to emphasise his individuality and the fact that she was one of the family. Maybe it brought a little bit of rank with it, who knows.
