Jack LeLégendaire

Indra passed through the prison corridors with Jacob pushing his chair. Yann, Kayl, Hatil, Ronan, and several other prisoners surrounded him and moved along with him.

These prisoners were still hesitant when the other leaders that Indra had left, but when they saw Indra in the wheelchair leave, something ignited in them.

They knew that Indra had no choice, but seeing that even a person with paralyzed legs was going without a trace of hesitation made them feel ashamed.

Moreover, beyond the possibility of dying, this was a real opportunity to not only erase his prison sentence, but more importantly to gain status, strength, honor and life expectancy.

After walking for more than 10 minutes and passing through countless security systems, they finally saw the last step: the door to hell.

Or at least that was the name the prisoners gave to this last station.

This was because once they passed this post, the individuals changed their status. Civilians became prisoners and vice versa. All personal items were also confiscated at this point.

Unfortunately, this time they did not change their status even after passing it, and they could not get their belongings back either, because they were not allowed in the army.

It was more logical to leave them in the prison until their family or close friends came to pick them up.

So they could only pass this post with regret after signing all the necessary papers for transfer.

These papers formalized their status as new soldiers, but they did not erase any crime they had committed.

To do so, they would have to make contributions to humanity that would be more than enough to erase what they wanted. This will only happen if they file a petition for acquittal.

This loophole was clearly unfair to the victims. Even more so if they were responsible for physical or mental harm to individuals, or even worse, if they had committed murder.

However, the military and the government knew where the priorities of humanity lay.

Lieutenant Colonel Tsavinsky had once pronounced:

"To hell with fairness and justice, the survival of humanity is our priority."

This was published in the newspaper "Big Eleven" in 5001. This sentence was Lieutenant Colonel Tsavinsky's answer to a question from a journalist who was offended by the current society.

This sentence summarized most of the new rules that governed human society since the appearance of the Zerg.

Soon, Indra left the prison under the stunned eyes of the many military personnel who were at the prison gates.

Indeed, it was not common to see a disabled person join the armed forces.

5 heavily armed military vehicles were positioned in an arc in front of the prison gate accompanied by 8 armored transport vehicles to carry the prisoners.

This procession was made up of more than a hundred soldiers to frame the whole thing.

Indeed, a prison was like a military fortress, so the best opportunity for prisoners to escape was when the military was recruiting in the prisons.

Indra knew from his classes that although the transfer was done in the greatest of secrecy and very quickly, history had recorded several attacks on the convoys, and many prisoners had escaped, including the famous Nirvana Roger, who now made a living from robbery, kidnapping, prostitution, drugs, etc.

Surprisingly, he also participated in many important battles against the Zerg, so the Federation opens and closes an eye on his activities.

Moreover, he was an old man who lived for almost 3000 years, with a strength at the peak of 4 stars, and nobody knows if this old monster had managed to reach the legendary 5 stars.

So even if the Federation decided to kill or capture him, it would cost them enormous resources.

His personal strength and the enormous resources Roger had accumulated over the years were not something to be underestimated.

Especially since the only human to have achieved the feat of reaching 5 stars was the greatest general in the human army: Jack Legendary.

His last name was given to him when he died in the year 4584 against a Zerg army.

According to Indra's knowledge, the Zerg had invaded Orion, a planet extremely far from Earth that had been transformed into a giant military base.

Unfortunately, even that had failed to stop the Zerg advance. With numbers like infinity, they captured 99% of the planet while killing tens of billions of humans in just 8 days.

On Day 9, Neptune Base, humanity's most powerful base, with over 60 million elite soldiers residing inside, held out for only 2 days.

At the end of the 11th day, an important piece of news was delivered to the top brass at the base.

A nuclear fission missile had been launched on Orion by the Federation and it would take 10 hours to arrive. It was now time to organize the escape of the tens of millions of elite human soldiers still alive, because otherwise their sacrifice would be useless.

It was at this point that Jack, then an army general, equipped with a simple halberd, and accompanied by five 4-star experts in their own exo-skeletons, 300 3-star men carrying various extremely heavy weapons, as well as more than 100,000 men mostly in the 2-star ranks stopped the Zerg for 10 hours, just long enough to transport more than 20 million elite soldiers.

Legend has it that several elite soldiers boarding the last evacuation ships saw, via special devices, that after 10 hours of fighting, all the experts within the Neptune base had died, including the five 4-star experts.

According to the accounts of some of the fighters, the 4-star experts, by means of certain techniques and equipped with an exo-skeleton, possessed totally superhuman prowess.

They could even withstand Zerg attacks in hand-to-hand combat, and blow them away with one punch.

In short, they were literally one-man armies.

Yet 5 of them disappeared forever during this battle.

At that time there were no more than 10 humans with such power, so the high-end power of humanity was significantly weakened.

However, Jack, on the other hand, continued to fight ferociously against a giant creature measuring several dozen meters in height while being completely surrounded by an endless army of Zerg.

The giant creature stood on two legs and had two giant scythes as arms.

After only a few minutes, Jack was finally skewered by one of the scythes and then lifted into the air while being skewered, as if the Zerg was proud to show everyone that the most powerful human was defeated by his own hands.

According to the soldiers who saw this scene, Jack just looked at the sky and then suddenly started laughing wildly while spitting out a mouthful of blood.

Then he mumbled a few unintelligible words and the next moment he was decapitated by the giant creature.

A few minutes later, Orion exploded into pieces.

According to the film adaptations, Jack said:

"Humanity will eventually triumph."

But in the end, no one will ever know.

Thanks to his sacrifice and that of many other soldiers, not only did the Zerg suffer a major blow, but the potential of the human army was largely preserved.

These circumstances would lead to a period of peace lasting over 200 years.

In the year 4790 the Zerg onslaught resumed, but humanity was fully prepared, and many of the 20 million surviving soldiers had attained 3 and 4 star fighting skills, allowing humanity to maintain the current stalemate with the Zerg.

There were exactly 21 4-star experts and 10,826 3-star experts in the year 4790, and they were the ones who firmly blocked the Zerg advance between the year 4790 and 5021.

Back in front of the prison, the scene was slightly cloudy as all the prisoners led by Indra, Pyrus, Rikio and Landers confronted the heavily armed soldiers in front of them.

A man carrying two red arrows on his shoulder followed by a yellow arrow looked at his watch, waited a few seconds and then stepped forward.

Once he was in front of the prisoners, he waited for a moment, observing the faces of each individual. He spent slightly more time on the faces of Pyrus, Rikio, Landers and Indra.

"Since you will be joining our ranks, you are now qualified to know my name," the man finally announced.

"I am Master Corporal Ura LeLégendaire."
