CHAPTER FIVE

Serena quickly rounded off her work in the office for the day.She bid her colleagues farewell and went home.

Serena went into the convenience store down the street of her house . She hurried inside, looking around for the clerk. When she spotted him behind the counter, she rushed over to him.

"Thank God you have not closed," Serena said and bought some beverages .

After a few minutes when she had finished eating ,she switched on the television screen to watch a movie and was about to change the channel to AV but what caught her attention was the company she was working for on the screen and pictures of one of the shareholders.

Serena gasped as she saw the breaking news on the screen. One of the shareholders of the company she worked for had been found dead in his home, the victim of an apparent homicide. The police were investigating, but there were no leads so far.

Serena felt a wave of nausea as she realized the implications of what she had heard earlier. Had her boss been involved in the murder? She couldn't believe it, but she couldn't deny the facts. And if he had been involved, did that mean she was in danger?

She sat there, frozen in terror, as the news report continued.

The death was being treated as a possible homicide, but the cause of death was still under investigation. The police were not releasing any further information at this time.

Serena's mind was spinning. She felt like she was in a bad dream, and she couldn't wake up. Her boss was a murderer? It was too horrible to believe. She tried to think of any other explanation, but nothing made sense.

Then, she had a thought. What if she wasn't in danger? What if the person who had overheard her conversation with her boss was the real target? Maybe they were the ones who were in danger.

She was disturbed all night and out of panic she quickly turned off the TV screen after the news,she went to bed turning from one side to the other till sleep finally came .

When Serena woke up, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. She felt like she was in a dream, but she knew she was awake. She got out of bed and went to the living room, where she turned on the TV. She wasn't sure what she was looking for, but she felt the need to see something that would make sense of what was happening.

She channel-surfed for a while, before settling on a morning talk show. The hosts were discussing the previous night's news, and the picture of the shareholder flashed on the screen. Serena's heart sank as she saw the familiar face. She listened to the hosts and guests as they discussed the possible motives for the murder, but nothing seemed to fit. She felt a knot in her stomach as she thought about her boss. Could he really have done this?

. She quickly does her morning routine and goes to her office.

As Serena arrived at her office, she felt a knot of dread in her stomach. She couldn't stop thinking about the news she had seen the night before. She knew she had to try to focus on her work, but she couldn't get her mind off of the situation. She sat down at her desk and tried to focus on the tasks in front of her, but her mind kept wandering.

She heard a knock on her door, and looked up to see her boss standing there. He looked worried, and he motioned for her to come into his office. She stood up and followed him in, feeling like she was walking to her own execution. He closed the door behind her and sat down behind his desk. "I wanted to talk to you about what's been happening," he said, his voice serious. "I know you must be feeling worried and concerned, and I want to assure you that we're doing everything we can to find out what's going on."

Serena just nodded, not sure what to say. He continued, "We're working with the police to get to the bottom of this. I know it's hard to focus,"I know this is a lot to take in, and I don't want to put any extra pressure on you," he said. "But I also need you to know that I'm counting on you to keep doing your job to the best of your ability. I know you're a professional, and I know you can handle this."

Serena nodded, taking a deep breath. She wasn't sure she could handle it, but she knew she had to try. "I'll do my best," she said.

He smiled at her, a look of relief on his face. "Thank you. "he said.
