Chapter 19: Speechless.

Brenden's heart skipped a beat as she held his hand. He seemed to feel a current flow between them as their hands touched. He smiled as he saw that she had that effect too. Or he thought so!

' Well, if it's only me, who had that effect, then that would be embarrassing. Hey!!! What current? Nuisance, there was nothing like that. Not at all! Never! '

Mel stood up and saw his straight face - no expressions at all and definitely not in the mood for talks. She snorted inwardly at herself. Couldn't she just find a better person than an ice block to have a crush on?

' I guess not!!'

* sigh*

' It's just too exhausting to start conversations and keep them going when it's a one-sided talk, you see. You don't even know whether they want to have that talk or not. How confusing can a person get?

They went from store to store to find the affordable ingredients and compare the prices to their list and other stores.

In the end, they planned to buy them from 5 different stores in different lanes as each item cost low in different stores.

' What so ever, profits matter, note that...' a money-minded boy smiled slyly.

For the entire time, all they spoke was about the comparison of ingredients ( mostly Brenden, as Mel didn't know why they were used in the first place! ) baked products, soda flavors, paper cups, and other needed items.

It was about 8.45 in the evening when they arrived at the White resort gates.

The similar white gate and huge courtyard behind it seemed strangely comforting. It was perfect, with the willows covering the compounds and the well-groomed bushes and small white button roses like little stars on the green clean-cut grass. The full moon seemed to be smiling at the sight.

" We will go buy everything after tomorrow." he said in a not-so-cold voice, breaking the calm, peaceful and romantic ambiance, which Melanie was enjoying, being immersed into it.

Mel's brows furrowed indicating her irritation, " Why are you such a perfectionist? Don't you know to speak normally, like people ? It's such a beautiful sight and we're alone, all you care about now is that damn budget? " she lashed out on him. ' What the hell is wrong with his head? '

Brenden stood there speechless totally surprised, being lashed out by a 15-year-old.

' Never in his 17 years did he think that a child would raise her voice against him. '

( Yeah, our brother here is a lot older. Ha .. calling everyone a child. )

' But what mistake did he do? '

He was more confused than surprised. " Did I do something wrong?"

Mel shook her head and sighed deeply," I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude."

' Shit, not to him again * face-slapping * internally...' Mel's subconscious was sitting with her in her palms, in a corner sulking at Mel's absurd behavior.

" It's fine I'm sorry too... It's not your mistake." He said with good thoughts. ' At least she was straightforward with him. Well - that's a first again.'

" My life has never been normal so, I don't really know how that feels like," he added, chuckling at that thought.

Mel frowned, hearing the sadness laced in his voice, ' Maybe he grew up in difficult situations. That the reason why he has matured so early! Ok then, let me at least make him have a childhood experience tomorrow! '

" We could make a deal you know?" she started, observing his reaction to her question.

"Deal? What kind?" he smirked his usual Dark prince'.

' Fu*k, he looks wicked and hot in that smile!!! ' Mel shook her head to push off any adulterous thoughts. ' Damn those books of hers! '

" Umm.. well you know, you can live 'normal' tomorrow if you promise to stay with me, the entire day," she said unsure if he would accept it. She knew that her idea was childish but yet, it was worth a try.

Brenden was in a dilemma, ' Why would she want him to be with her? And him normal? He could give anything to be normal, anything....'

" Ok," he answered as they stood in front of their respective rooms.

Mel grinned mischievously," Well you should start by dressing up normally then, like a 17-year-old instead of a 35-year-old. Good night, Bren." saying that she entered her room and close the door behind her.

Brenden stood there staring blankly at the shut door. ' Bren? Seriously? It seems cute- WHAT? nope nothing. But what was he supposed to wear???'

" Maybe Lucas and Hayden can help ." he sighed.

' Normal? ME??? Joke of the year!!! '
