The Heart Leads

 Writer's point of view…..

Kulture feels like she is suffocating and decides to leave the ward. All she kept hearing since was Mercy this and Owen that, not that she is against any of it but it felt awkward that she is not contributing which is unlike her.

Owen at some point wanted to talk to her but the couple would not give him a breathing space so when he saw Kulture sneaking out of the ward he decided to follow her and find out what was going on with her.

He excused me and left after her.

Walking through the hospital lobby, Owen bumped into Dr Frank. Owen did not realize he is still around.

Dr Frank made to walk past him but stopped when realization hit him,"You are Mr Zidat younger brother, am I right?"

Owen turned and faced the doctor,"I did not know you realized already. I had to ask myself what's keeping you from finding out."

Owen replied and looked at the doctor from head to toe,"I know what you did but I am going to keep calm and pretend as nothing happened but if you ever think of coming any inch close to any of my loved ones again, I will make sure you rot in hell"

Dr Frank was taken back because he did not know what Owen was talking about.

Owen smiled at the clueless look the doctor had on his face"you think no one will find out you killed Susan, she personally told me herself and pledged me not to do anything about it."

Dr Frank hearing what Owen said felt like a bucket of ice had been deposited on him. He had a reason for ripping Susan's heart off which was to implicate Dr Emmanuel but now that someone knows about what he did, he is not sure if he is still going on with his plan of taking care of Dr Emmanuel.

"You are a funny young man, how can you accuse me of something you have no evidence of" Dr Frank questioned trying to cancel every fear on his face. He can't show he is guilty as charged.

"I don't need any evidence because I wouldn't be suing you for killing my sister in-law but if you want me to present any evidence for you, wait for it"

Dr Frank chuckled nervously, turned and walked away leaving Owen glaring at his diminishing back.

When he could not see Dr Frank any longer, he turned and went in the same direction Kulture went through

Earlier on, Susan had appeared to him back at the Kingston's house and explained to him why she wants him to love mercy and marry her, Mercy has her heart and she would be a good mother to Claire.

Owen had understood why it felt like he had known mercy, Susan left a part of her which is her heart and he was grateful for that.

Susan further explained who was behind the whole thing and asked him not to do anything about it, that Dr Frank will pay in due time.

Kulture stood outside the hospital premises and watched how busy the hospital is. She felt out of place and sleepy too. She has a shift tonight and she was supposed to be sleeping as of now.

She yawned and was about to take another step forward when she felt a hand on her shoulder, she turned and found the prying eyes of Owen. He was looking worried, which baffled Kulture. Owen is a carefree soul that worries not about anyone from the little she knows.

"Hi, what are you doing here?"

She asked nonchalantly, no spice in her voice which convinced Owen that something is wrong with her.

  "Are you okay"?

"Sure, I am fine. Just tired"

Owen did not believe her.

"I know something happened to you earlier in the house, can you share?"

He asked, concerned.

Kulture sighed and faced him"Nothing, I just realized that whatever I was feeling for you was infatuation so I had to kill it"

Owen was surprised, he did not realize that Kulture was feeling something for him, though he was getting a hint of it but he refused to believe it.

"I am sorry about that. I didn't mean to put you in that position"

He apologized sincerely.

"You don't behave to apologize, you did not ask me to crush on you. I did it on my own willingly."

She smiled at him then turned her back on him," I see you and my sis are getting along. I am surprised she liked you so easily"

"Yeah, we are. You should not be surprised. We can't control what we feel by ourselves. The heart always leads whenever the head is not leading."

Kulture agreed with him," you are absolutely right. I just hope that happiness never depart from her life again"

She prayed.

  "I pray so"

Owen said and heavy silence fell on them. They stood side by side watching people walk in and out of the hospital, each with his or her thoughts.
