Life Is Worth Celebrating

A knock sounded at the door and Vivian groaned. she was lying squarely on her couch feeling so lazy to do anything or rather, she doesn't want to do anything because she is still mourning Susan.

"Who is it? I am coming!"

"She yelled and stood up murmuring, "Can't I be left alone again?"

she pulled the door open and a smile spread across her face.

"Alice, what are you doing here?"

She asked, seeming surprised, she was thinking it could be someone else.

"I worked half day at the office. I just returned and decided to see how you are doing. can I come in?"

   "Yeah sure"

Vivian smiled softly and gestured for Alice to come in while closing the door behind her. They both headed to her small living room. Taking a seat, Alice sat beside Vivian.

"I have been fine actually. I'm a little sleepy but I don't feel too bad."

"That's good to know. Is there anything that would help? Maybe if you eat something?"

"No, I'M not hungry, besides I think that will make things worse."

Alice did not quite agree with Vivian about what she said concerning food. Eating has never seems to worsen any situation, rather it makes you feel a lot better.

"Well you have to eat something, even if it is little. Do you have something at home?"

Vivian looked away, she thought about it and shook her head no.

"Do you want me to make you food?"

"No, It's alright, thank you Alice. You go get some rest, I'll be okay."

"That's nonsense. I don't know much but the little I know you, I can swear with my life that you are not alright and you would not try to eat today. I am sure you know you are not the only one who has lost a friend unless you want to go over to her? Be my guest."

Alice fired at Vivian angrily. Vivian opened and closed her mouth. She has nothing else to say.

"Just give me few minutes, to change and I will be right back"

Alice said walking off the living room. Vivian sighed and laid back on the couch again.

Few minutes has gone and another knock sounded at the door. She slowly opened her eyes then turned on her side,

"Come in, it's open"

She yelled with the thought it's Alice.

David cranked the door open then stepped inside the house, closed it gently and started searching for where Vivian's voice was coming from. He had arrived with a bottle of wine and two paper bags.

He found the living room and saw Vivian sleeping on the couch on her side. He smiled and walked closer towards her. As he approached her more he noticed she seemed paler than usually.

As he got near he heard Vivian moan quietly.

"Vivian?"

He called quietly and Vivian shut her eyes open and stood up immediately. The last person she expected to see right now and he did not even come along, he came with a bottle of wine. She searched her mind to see if she is celebrating anything and while doing that, she was assessing her dress.

She shouldn't have wore this old faded jeans of hers and the top? a mess too. She suddenly felt ashamed of herself.

"How come you were in my house?" she asked nervously and David chuckled

"Nothing, I returned from where I went to and I am not sure if you had anything at all apart from this morning so I got a take away and a bottle of wine for you and I"

He replied, showing her a bottle of wine.

It was a bottle with a white label on it saying "Alesa", and it looked expensive. He put them down on the table and opened the plastic bag.

Inside was a sandwich wrapped in plastic wrap with bread sticking out on it. There was also a plate with some kind of meat wrapped in brown bread. It all smelled really nice.

"Wow you bought everything."

She said as she took the plate from him. He nodded slightly and sat down then opened the wine.

"The only thing missing is wine glasses"

She said, staring at David with the plate of meat in her hand.

"I know right, can you help with them? This is your house"

"Off course I can"

She dropped the plate then walked out briskly. David chuckled as he set their lunch accordingly.

Vivian returned a moment later with two glasses.

A while ago, she was telling Alice she is not hungry but here she is ready to eat.

She handed David the glasses and sat beside him then took the meat plate she left to get the glasses.

David poured wine on one of the glasses and handed it to her, poured the second one and dropped the wine bottle on the center table.

  "What are we celebrating exactly?"

Vivian questioned with her eyes loaming over the content of her glass.

"We must not celebrate anything before a bottle of wine will be shared. Life is worth celebrating, cheers to life"

David replied, laughing slightly.
