Chapter 8

We have been busy in rebuilding the walls. Everyone worked harder than anyone else in order to finish it before the next Monster attacks.

"Your Highness, How many meters would you like to be the wall to be constructed?" Miller Asked.

"Hmm.. Let's use five meters." I said.

"Great! That will give us enough defense from the monsters." Miller replied smiling.

The days that followed by the completion of the wall were peaceful. Everything seemed to be perfect.

Until....

The sound of an explosion startled me from my sleep and I instantly jumped towards the nearest cover and took a deep breath before moving my eyes to look around.

The scene that meets my eyes causes me to gasp in shock.

The sky was covered by a cloud of smoke.

I When I arrive near the palace I could already see the flames spreading through the Village.

"Your Highness!! Your Highness!! There's a fire somewhere in the village!!" Aisling screamed.

"What?! Where?!" I shouted from inside the house.

"No idea, all I know is that it's spreading fast." She replied.

The village was under attack again.

since the Monster attacked the village three days ago. We have been trying to protect our Village as much as possible.

I rushed out and went to see everyone working together in setting the defenses up.

The village had been having many fires, many of which were caused by monsters causing havoc in the village.

Most of the people were hiding and trying their best to escape. Even the strongest fighters of our village was being pushed back by countless of monsters.

I looked up and saw an old woman holding a baby that is screaming in her arms while she ran away from danger.

She is not hurt, I hope that she will stay alive.

I walked closer and helped the old woman to keep going.

"Thank you Your Highness!" She exclaimed gratefully.

After getting out of danger I continued to help to set up the defense with the guards.

The midnight time started to come early as the moon hung high in the sky.

but that didn't stop the guards to fight against the enemy.

While helping one of the guards the ground began shaking and rumbling.

I turned around and saw a large number of monsters rushing towards the village. Most were running with weapons in hand while some of them were flying through the air.

This must have been another attack from the Monster.

"Come on, let's try to help everyone. If we can't then at least we'll at least have died defending our home." A Knight said.

Everyone nodded.

" Aisling! Bring His Highness into safety! The Monsters will be arriving in this area in no time! Fall back to the Kingdom with the people!" Michael Said.

" Understood! I shall carry my duty as the Royal Guard! Your Highness let's go!" Aisling Shouted.

"Wait! Don't waste your lives defending the village! it doesn't matter if the village is destroyed, as long as the people of this Village survives our Village can still be rebuilt! I shouted

All of the guards gave me a surprised look.

"Your Highness!" All of them shouted as they all gave me a nod in support.

"Let's head out and make our way to the Kingdom, protect the people!!!!" Michael ordered.

"Hear that everyone! Follow the Knight Captain!! Forward!!!" I shouted shouted as we made our way to the Kingdom.

The moment we got out from the Village gatesI could see the Village was in an absolute mess because of the Monster invasion.

There were many dead people everywhere. Most of them were civilians.

My eyes watered when looking at the corpses. I felt sick to my stomach.

I tried my best not to lose control of myself but my hands and legs began trembling. Tears started streaming down my face as I fought back my anger.

A small tear rolled down the side of my cheek. After that tear dropped a few more followed it soon after.

"I'm so sorry." I whispered.

"Please forgive me. I am so sorry. I failed as a Leade. "

My body started shaking violently. The tears kept falling from my eyes.

I couldn't take the sight anymore and collapsed to my knees crying loudly.

"Please forgive me..." I whispered repeatedly.

"Your Highness??" Someone suddenly called from behind.

'Someone' was none other than Michael.

"Are you okay Your Highness??" He Asked concerned

I wiped the tears off my face and looked up at him.

"I'm... alright... I'm ok." I told him wiping away some of my tears.

I didn't want him to worry.

"Okay then. Are you sure Your Highness?" I nodded yes in response.

We were making our way with the people to evacuate fom the village to head to the Kingdom.

The only thing I could think of was the people who got killed on the Village.

Even those innocent children who were just minding their own business.

The innocent children didn't deserve to die like this.

Why did these monster attacked them? What was their goal? Why did they attack this small Village?? What do they f*cking want???!!!!!!!

'Don't cry. Cry later. We need to focus on what to do now.' I told myself trying to calm myself down.

Suddenly a rustlng sound was heard at the west of the forest.

Michael and everyone immediately halted, ready to fight off whatever the hell was about to come out of that direction.

"Everyone, get ready for a Fight!" Michael yelled.

Everyone started preparing themselves. Some knights went to make a defensive poses around His Highness.

Suddenly the monster appeared.

It was a huge wolf monster. I couldn't tell what it was since its fur was black. Its sharp claws were glistening in the moonlight. It was big and powerful. It looked at us with its blood red eyes, which made me shiver in fear.

'So it's a wolf monster huh... ' Michael thought

Michael took out his blade from the scabbard attached to his belt.

We watched as the Monster opened its mouth and roared. Our bodies shuddered in fright as the Alpha howled.

He started charging towards us.

"Knights! Protect the People and His Highness!" Michael commanded.

"Your Majesty!!" One of the Knights yelled pointing toward the Monster.

We all noticed the Monster's claw has raised into air Targeting His Highness.

"Protect His Highness!" I heard Michael yell.

The knights began advancing to protect Their Highnesses' positions.

A soldier tried to defend himself, but the Monster's claw pierced his chest sending him falling to the floor. The Monster then threw the soldier away.

"Attack!!" Michael screamed.

We all charged forward and surrounded the Monster.

"Your Highness! Get on your way to the Kingdom with the people! we will hold off this monster!" The knight yelled.

The civilians already made their way to the Kingdom with the Prince.

When everyone was ready Michael yelled, "NOW!!".

They immediately charged towards the Monster.

In no time they had managed to hit the Monster several times.

But even with that the Monster stood strong. Its muscles bulged with each punch and kick it landed onto them. Each time that hit made the men fall from their position, they fell to the ground screaming in pain.

Soon the Monster's body began to glow a dark blue color. The light then began shining brighter.

Just at the moment the Light emitted from the Monster, two men jumped from behind the monster and landed their attacks on the Monster.

One of them landed a direct hit which caused the Monster's arm to crack.

But it still refused to yield.

"Keep attacking!!!" The Knight ordered.

We charged towards the Monster once again to attack.

And just as we arrived in front of the Monster, the second Knight landed a slash on the Monster' leg causing the Monsters foot to fall.

We then charged again with great strength.

When we arrived in front of the Monster once again.

The Knight that hit its leg gave it another slice which sent the Monster to its knees.

"Now!!!" He said and dashed towards the monster.

When he was almost upon it.

His sword sunk into the Monster's neck.

Blood squirted from the wound and splattered on the Knight.

The Monster's eyes widened and stared at the Knight in confusion and surprise before collapsing.

Once the Monster lay on the ground, all the soldiers rushed towards it .

"Is Everyone safe?" Michael asked worriedly while checking everyone.

"Yessir. But we had 2 casualties other than that.

Everyone is fine. Nobody was hurt." They replied.

"Good, give them a proper burial." Michael said

"Yes sir."
