Chapter 8 - GOM Pt.2

1969

Abraxas Malfoy's office was shrouded in the kind of hushed opulence that only centuries of wealth could cultivate. High, arched windows threw slants of afternoon sunlight across plush carpets, glinting off the polished mahogany desk that had been in the family for generations. Lucius, only eleven but with an air of dignity that belied his age, slipped into one of the plush armchairs across from his father, his icy blue eyes wide and curious.

Dobby, the family house-elf, appeared with a pop, bearing a silver tray laden with the finest china and an assortment of snacks. He set it on the table before Lucius, bowing low before disappearing again.

"Lucius," Abraxas began, his voice a deep rumble echoing within the room. "You remember our discussions regarding the Black family, don't you?"

Lucius nodded, a small frown creasing his brow. "Yes, Father. You and Mother have been in negotiations with them for a while now, haven't you?"

"That's correct," Abraxas replied, his gaze never wavering from his son. "And today, I have some news. Orion Black has accepted our marriage proposal for you and his son, Sirius."

The news didn't shock Lucius as much as it might have for another boy his age. He had known this was coming, had been prepared for it by his mother, Georgina, who had always been the more forward-thinking of his parents. He nodded once, taking a sip of his tea to hide his momentary unease.

"That is...good news, Father," Lucius said, choosing his words carefully. "I assume, then, that they are aware of my...secondary gender?"

Abraxas nodded, his lips pressing into a thin line. "Yes, they are. And they see it as a strength, Lucius. You know as well as I do how rare and valuable Omegas are. And with Sirius being an Alpha, it's a match that could greatly benefit both our houses."

The elder Malfoy paused, studying his son. "The contract of the arranged marriage is already signed, Lucius. Your engagement will occur right after your first heat cycle. Sirius, however... he doesn't know yet. We agreed to keep it that way until your fourth year, when you're likely to go into heat. Until then, you'll need to keep up appearances as a Beta at Hogwarts, for your safety."

Lucius took another sip of his tea, his mind whirling with the information. He knew the importance of this arrangement, the power it would bring to his family. But he was also aware of the responsibility it placed on his young shoulders.

"I understand, Father," he said finally, meeting Abraxas's gaze with a determination that made the elder Malfoy nod in approval. "I will do my best for our family."

"And that's all we can ask of you, Lucius," Abraxas said, leaning back in his chair, the weight of the negotiations seeming to lift from his shoulders. "This is a new chapter for our family, and we are confident that you and future descendants will carry our name with honor."

"Thank you, Father," Lucius responded, a new steel in his voice. He straightened his back, his slender shoulders squared with newfound resolve.

Abraxas nodded with satisfaction, leaning back in his chair. "Remember, Lucius, you are a Malfoy. And Malfoys always succeed in what they set out to do," he said, his voice filled with paternal pride. "Your mother and I trust you to handle this with the grace and dignity that befits our family's name."

Lucius nodded, the words sinking into him like a spell. This was his destiny, his duty, and he would not shirk it. He was a Malfoy, an Omega, and soon to be a Black. And he would carry these roles with the poise and tenacity his family was known for.

As he left his father's office, his mind already began to turn towards Hogwarts. He would need to keep his secondary gender a secret, to protect himself and his family's plans. It would be a challenge, but Lucius was nothing if not adaptable.

In the privacy of his chambers, Lucius stared into the antique mirror above his dresser, his pale face reflecting back at him. He was a boy of eleven, but his eyes held a maturity that was contrary to his age. He was an Omega, a secret he would have to guard carefully at Hogwarts. He was soon to be betrothed to Sirius Black, a boy two years his junior and yet, his future mate.

Lucius stared at his reflection once again, a slow, cruel smile spread across his face. The prospect of marrying Sirius Black, an Alpha he had his sights set on, was more than just ideal – it was deliciously perfect.

Not just any Alpha would have the privilege of claiming a prime Omega like him. Lucius had his standards, after all. And Sirius, with his fiery spirit and his uncanny ability to unsettle Lucius in a way no one else could, had intrigued him from the start.

Lucius remembered their first meeting vividly. Though still young, Sirius was unlike any other child he'd met within his social circles. He was too forthright, too brashly brave, and far too impulsive. His carefree nature was utterly foreign to Lucius, who'd been raised in a world of strict decorum and duty. But that raw, unbridled liveliness had drawn Lucius in, a mesmerizing whirlwind that left him wanting more.

But Sirius had quickly dismissed him, a decision that had left a sour taste in Lucius's mouth. And now, the tables were turned. The idea of seeing the look on Sirius's face when he found out about their impending marriage was too delightful to resist.

Lucius could already picture it: the shock in Sirius's gray eyes, the disbelief, and then, the dawning realization that he was bound to Lucius, an Omega he had so carelessly discarded. It would be a satisfying payback, and Lucius reveled in the thought.

His inner Omega was already drawn to Sirius, who had already claimed him as their Alpha. But he wouldn't grovel, wouldn't admit to it. He would make Sirius beg, and would make him recognize the depth of his mistake. Lucius had no intention of making this easy for Sirius. He would tease, torment, and absolutely revel in the chaos that was bound to ensue.

A smirk played on Lucius's lips as he thought about the future. Sirius Black, the Alpha who had cast him aside, was now destined to be his mate. The irony was too delicious to ignore, and Lucius was looking forward to every moment of it.

He would make Sirius Black see just what he had missed, would make him understand just how fortunate he was to be betrothed to Lucius Malfoy, an Omega of the highest caliber. This was his game now, and Lucius always played to win.

He smirked. Maybe he does belong in Slytherin.

1970

The Slytherin common room was a sea of green and silver, buzzing with the whispered gossip of students. It was a place where alliances were forged, secrets were shared, and the intricate game of social power was played.

Lucius Malfoy, despite being only in his second year, had already established himself as someone who did not subscribe to the traditional views of his house. He had shocked many by openly defending a half-blood first year against the scathing remarks of Bellatrix Black and her gang of pureblood supremacists.

Bellatrix, the sixth year senior, had her dark eyes flashing dangerously, confronting Lucius in the common room. "You're siding with the mudbloods and blood traitors, Lucius," she spat, her voice icy. "I should let your parents know about your...disgusting choices."

Lucius, however, was unfazed. He met her gaze evenly, his icy blue eyes filled with defiance. "Do as you like, Bellatrix," he responded coolly. "I've already had this conversation with my parents."

His mind flashed back to the summer, to the long, heated discussions with his parents. His father, Abraxas, was furious at his views on blood purity and Muggles, wanting to discipline him for his 'rebellious' ideas. But his mother, Georgina, had intervened. She encouraged them to sit down and discuss it, to understand Lucius's perspective.

It was a long summer, filled with arguments and tension. But Lucius was relentless. He believed in his views, in the equality and fairness he thought everyone deserved, regardless of their blood status. His parents might not understand now, but he was hopeful that they would someday.

Back in the present, Bellatrix looked momentarily taken aback by his response. But Lucius did not wait for her to recover, turning on his heel and leaving her standing in the middle of the common room.

The murmurs and whispers followed him, but Lucius couldn't care less. He had made his stand, and he would not back down. It was a small victory, but a significant one. He was making his own path, defying the stereotypes of his house, and he was proud of it.

Someday, he hoped, his parents would understand. But for now, Lucius was content knowing he was standing up for what he believed was right. And he would continue to do so, no matter the consequences.

The vast expanse of the Malfoy Manor felt unusually quiet in the summer, the grand halls echoing with the silent whispers of old magic. Lucius Malfoy, having just completed his second year at Hogwarts, found himself wandering the manor, often in the company of the family house elf, Dobby.

Dobby had been a constant presence in Lucius's life since his fifth birthday. The small creature was always at his side, eager to assist in any way possible. At first, Lucius found the elf's enthusiastic servitude annoying. But over time, the young wizard had grown to appreciate Dobby's company.

Lucius was an only child, and the manor often felt lonely. His parents were frequently occupied with their duties, leaving him to his own devices.

Usually, Lucius would be used to this and do his own thing for distraction, but ever since the memory of playing with Sirius, on the boy's fifth birthday party, Lucius felt even more lonelier than ever before.

In the absence of human company, Dobby became an unexpected friend. The elf was always ready to indulge in Lucius's whims, whether it be a game of wizard's chess or a request for new Muggle items to study.

Lucius was fascinated by the Muggle world. Its simplicity and the tenacity of Muggles to get by without magic intrigued him. Dobby, always eager to please, would bring him Muggle novels, newspapers, and even a few contraptions that left Lucius both amused and curious.

The afternoons spent in the manor's library, with Dobby by his side, became one of Lucius's favorite pastimes. He would delve into the pages of Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, explore the complexities of Muggle politics through newspapers, and occasionally fiddle with a Muggle contraption Dobby had brought him.

Through these interactions, Lucius began to see Dobby, and the other house elves in the manor, in a different light. They were not just servants but individuals with their own personalities and quirks. It made him appreciate them more, not just as helpers, but as beings deserving of respect and kindness.

Those summer days spent with Dobby helped shape Lucius's perspective, making him more understanding and considerate. It was a bond that, while unusual, was a source of companionship in the solitude of the Malfoy Manor. And for Lucius, it was a friendship he would come to cherish.
