By the time Yang Gang had finished his work and walked out of Yang's Building, he discovered an unread text message on his phone.
It was from Gu Xiaorou.
"Gang, I've left Hangcheng. Take good care of yourself."
The text message was sent two hours ago.
Yang Gang stared at the message, feeling a wave of loss wash over him.
He tried calling Gu Xiaorou back, but the call wouldn't go through.
After more than a dozen attempts, he was met with the same familiar voice, "Sorry, the number you dialed can not be reached at the moment, please try again later..."
Yang Gang hung up the phone, looking up at the vast sky, his eyes thoughtful and distant.
In the afternoon, Yang Gang still had a class to attend.
Looking at the empty desk in front of him, he felt something was missing.
During the break, Yang Gang seemed to have lost his spirit, listlessly resting his head on the table.
