Chapter 40. Alchemy

"Sarah, can you help seal my aura and hide my cultivation level?" Alaric asked. He had been laying on his head for hours since he had taken a bath. He was wearing a blue t-shirt and jeans.

[ANSWER]- Request received successfully. System will fulfil Subject's request immediately.

Alaric sighed knowing that nobody was going to sense his cultivation. The problem with sealing it personally was that he could only hide it from those of his level. Those of a higher cultivation level could easily see through him like clear glass.

With the system doing it for him, he would hide it even from Sovereigns! He smiled in contention as he remembered he only had one week to return the technique. He slid into a pair of blue slippers and walked out of the room.

He was surprised to find all three roommates were seated together chatting and playing cards. He just glanced at them and greeted them and walked out. He did not even realize the shocked gaze he left them with.

"Could you sense him?" Carlos asked. He was now in the peak of the master plane and few bottlenecks away from entering the Salvia Plane. Once one entered the Salvia Plane, they would officially be allowed to leave the academy and search for their own adventures.

Oliver just nodded with shock after realizing even Carlos who was the strongest of them had not. He was now in the peak of Cryptic plane and he was also about to break into the Master plane.

"What a strange kid. Is it my eyes or has his complexion changed? I would like to see how far he gets though," Arazel said still staring at the closed door lost in thoughts. He was now in the second stage of the master plane.

The three were silent for a while and Oliver dropped an ace card on the table as the expressions of the rest changed. He grinned widely waiting for their next move.

Alaric found his way to the library but on his way he had felt more than a hundred gazes. Whatever their reason was he did not know. Well, he could not be bothered by such thing, right? He finally stepped on the stairs and headed to the first floor.

He registered to the attendant who was a male this time. The guy was at first shocked but he allowed him to return the technique to its original position. He then went to the mission hall and stared at the available missions.

His friends were going to reprimand him. He had just gotten out of cultivation but he was already headed for a mission? He picked a mission which was supposed to be taken by a fifth stage. It was about a beast that had been loitering around the city. Time limit was two months.

The beast was in the fifth stage. Activities such as fighting these low level beasts were usually left off for the academy to solve them. The academy would then give them to its students as missions. The mission was actually worth only 500 points.

The reason for this being that the beast was not actually a dangerous one. Though, this did not mean that it was going to be an easy catch. The beast was a hedgehog. Hedgehogs were not actually harmful unless provoked. No one knew just how it had gotten into the city.

One thing he also noted was that the mission had been there for a long time. Many who had attempted it had failed to finish it by the time limit. He picked the mission and the guy stared at him for long trying to discern his cultivation level but he failed miserably.

Alaric could only laugh inwardly. It was not that he could not sense him trying to probe into his secrets. The guy gave up and handed him the mission. He could only assume tha Alaric was a person of a higher cultivation than him who had decided to pick a low mission.

His look turned to that of disdain. What a coward. Now that he could not manage missions of his own level, he was deciding to take those of low level.

[...]- The chances of him having berating thoughts about you from his shift are 100%

Alaric felt his jaw drop. Well it was not that he could care about him. It was better minding your own business. Now that the guy had failed to discern his cultivation, he was trying to console himself. What a joke!

He left the library and decided to first look for his friends. It was not like he knew where to find them. Finding Aurora was going to be easy. She was always disciplined and never missed classes. Rey would miss for a month and give excuse of taking a mission.

Alaric found his way to the alchemy class and found that the teacher had just arrived. He stood at the door for a while and without knocking, he proceeded to an empty space where one beautiful lady with violet hair and eyes sat. It was obvious that he had never been in an alchemy class before.

As he walked in, he could feel the stares on him. That could in the least bother him. He passed behind the female teacher and apologized as he made his way to sit next to Aurora. He was surprised that her friends were not around.

There was pin drop silence when they saw the seat he had chosen. There were three particular gazes that seemed to pierce through him. He looked back and then waved at the three who were seated in different positions at the back.

How could he not recognize them? He actually had done it on purpose so as to anger them. His mind just rang the word simps. These guys were Matthew, Zeddy and Karl. He actually had a better impression of James who had followed his dream in smithing class than these three who took Alchemy class just for her to notice them.

The anger on the three made it appear like they were boiling up. One could almost imagine the steam that rose from their heads.

Alaric could only call them cowards. They were unable to approach her but they got angry when someone else approached her. Alaric looked forward and smiled at Aurora who had been been staring at him all this while.

If it was before, he would never have noted but everytime he stared at her her cheeks would slightly change into a shade of pink. This made him feel slightly guilty. Had he not taken matters that far... He discarded these thoughts. If he thought too much about it, he would probably open his heart.

[...]- System states the probability of her heart racing is 99%.

"You changed," Aurora whispered and looked at the board.

Alaric was not sure what she was talking about. How could she know that he had changed? Could she see his body changes?

"How?" He asked. He discarded the thought that everyone could be listening.

"Just look into the mirror and you will know," Aurora said and it was at this moment that the teacher slammed her book onto the table.

Alaric look upward and was met by a gaze that almost drove him on a cliff.

"Could we have the honour of knowing who our esteemed guest is?" The teacher spoke and Alaric could only scratch the back of his head.

He had not meant to cause this much of a disturbance though he had wanted an entrance... He stood up but Aurora held his hand. She knew the things that would happen if he headed forward. Alaric smiled reassuringly and stepped forward.

He stood next to the teacher and stared at the almost 200 pairs staring at him. Many would commend him for his courage. Not many would even walk into the class after the teacher had entered...

"My honour as the esteemed guest to introduce myself to you all. My name is Alaric, Aurora's friend," he replied. He actually spoke without any stammering! "Any questions?" He asked like a teacher after finishing a complex topic.

He stared around but no one raised their hand. He headed to sit down but that was when a familiar voice came. It was Karl.

"I have one."

Karl realized that this was the only chance they would get to embarass him. Why not use this as part of him getting his revenge? He asked a simple question that was supposed to be the introduction to alchemy.

Alaric nodded and allowed him to speak.

"How is a practioner pill created?" Karl asked and Alaric froze. He had not expected such a question. He did not even know the basics of weapon forgery let alone this Alchemy he had never studied before. He could not even describe how a practitioner weapon is formed...

One could see the victorious smile on Karl as he crossed his hands on his chest. Even the teacher appeared content after such a question. This was one way to ridicule and shame him after he failed to answer.

Alaric looked Aurora and saw her worried look. She had warned him. She gave him that look that said 'I told you'. He smiled nervously as he walked back to the teachers table and took the chalk. He then gave his back to them and spoke.

"I see you all did not grasp the basics during your first class. Do not worry for I will break it into understandable pieces by your small brains," Alaric said as he wrote. He wrote two numbers. 1 and 2. Everyone stared at him like a fool. There was only one method of creating a practitioner pill. He was definitely in for embarrassment.

Alaric turned to them and placed his hands on the table as he looked at everyone his nervous smile turning to a confident one.

" Sarah, could you give me two procedures of creating a practitioner pill," he asked and Sarah's voice rang in his mind and the screen appeared infront of him.
