Chapter 29- Saving His Brother From The Heartache… Incoming Danger

Longmin was silently looking at his enormous soul and the flashing multicolored runic seal on its forehead.

A small almost unnoticeable stream of the strange energy was slowly flowing into the seal. Longmin saw that the stream of energy wasn't being drawn by his granduncle's seal, but by his soul itself.

That unsettling feeling was still there, he felt as if something was slowly awakening within his soul and that made him extremely worried. He didn't want what happened to him six years ago to ever happen again, especially at a time like this.

'If granduncle had wanted me to enter into this Pocket Realm, was it because of this?'

Longmin didn't know the answer to that question, he was never able to guess what his granduncle was thinking.

After a while, he let out sighed in his heart.

'The seal doesn't seem to be weakening in any way, so I guess everything is good for now.'

Longmin stared at his soul in a daze.

His soul was obviously a lot larger than what it was supposed to be for his cultivation level. No, in fact, it was larger than what it was supposed to be period. What should have grown in size was instead his Spiritual Sense, not his soul itself.

When someone enters the Foundation Realm and gained Spiritual Strength, which would initially be around ten meters large. As they move through the minor realms, it can increase slightly at each breakthrough, causing their it and their soul itself to become stronger.

Normally, disciples in the Foundation Realm would use different methods to strengthen their souls and increase their Spiritual Strength, so there would be disparities between the size and strength. Some would have an abnormally stronger Spiritual Strength than their peers or have Spiritual Strength several times weaker.

But there was a limit to how big it could grow and that was fifty meters, though this limit was as hard as trying to ascend to the Nine Heavens for people to reach.

After the Foundation Realm, one would enter the Core Formation Realm. In this realm, a disciple's Spiritual Strength would transform into Spiritual Sense and would become ten times larger than the initial fifty meters.

Someone in the early stage of the Core Formation realm will be able to extend their Spiritual Sense five hundred meters outside of their body. Mid-stage and late-stage Core Formation disciples' souls would enlarge by several meters, but like in the Foundation realm it had a limit to how large it should be able to grow, and that was a thousand meters eight hundred.

Longmin's soul, not even his Spiritual Sense, but his soul had broken that limit and reached five hundred meters. Though he guessed this also meant his Spiritual Sense was able to extend to five hundred meters.

This abnormal growth in his soul all happened when Longmin had taken the Heavenly Pallet and transformed his Spiritual Strength into Spiritual Sense.

When the Grand Elder was guiding the essence of the Heavenly Pallet to his soul, Longmin had watched in astonishment at its continual growth. He had asked his granduncle why his soul was so different from what he read in books, but like all the other questions he asked, his granduncle just responded that he will eventually know in the future and not to worry about it now.

He also specifically said that he shouldn't tell anyone about his soul, not even his brother Longwei.

Longmin was confused and scared at times, after all, he was still a fourteen-year-old kid and he didn't understand what was happening to him or why he was so different from a normal person.

As all of these mixed emotions was threaten to drown him, but he suddenly heard Longwei's voice.

"Hey, little brother look I got it!"

Longmin came out of his dazed state and an unnoticeable smile formed on his lips.

He then thought to himself.

'You're the only one that keeps me grounded, I don't know what I would do if you weren’t here anymore.'

Longmin then closed his eyes and his soul projection that was formed from Spiritual Sense disappeared from his Sea of Consciousness.

The fog that had initially moved away, came back and covered the view of his enormous soul; obscuring the lights of the flashing multi-colored rune.

On the outside, Longmin who was still on the rock opened his eyes. The swirling wormhole of the strange energy around him settled down as he stopped cultivating.

Longmin turned away from the waterfall and looked behind him. Longwei was in the water down below holding up a clear-white bottle that had a golden pill in it the size of a thumb.

Longmin smiled and said.

"Congratulations on getting the Heavenly Pallet brother, do you want me to pat you on the back and give you a kiss on the cheek as well?"

Hearing the sarcasm in his voice, Longwei's smile fell and his joy from getting the Heavenly Pallet diminished somewhat.

While glaring at Longmin, Longwei's left hand which was still under the water formed a seal. From out of the waterfall a Sword Qi flashed into being and with a blue streak, it flew toward Longmin.

Its speed made it seem as if it had teleported from the waterfall to arrive just inches away from Longmin's unguarded back.

Longmin still had his head turned and was smiling at Longwei. His unresponsiveness made it look like he wasn't aware of the attack. However, the Sword Qi simply passed through him and hit the rock he was sitting on.

The hard rock that was eroded by the waterfall over time, leaving nothing but a diamond-like surface was cleaved in two by Longwei's Sword Qi. Leaving one half to remain above the surface, and the other half to sink into the pond with a loud splash.

Longmin's clothesless figure appeared on another rock eight meters to the right, the sun behind him obscuring his figure somewhat.

Longwei scowled in irritation at his missed attack.

"You just wait little brother, you'll eventually get what's coming to you."

Longmin rolled his eyes upon hearing that and thought in his heart.

'If I were to tell him that I had only used 1/10 of my Spiritual Sense to beat him before, I wonder how he would react, would he go nuts?'

Longmin contemplated whether to reveal his abnormal soul to his brother to mess with him, but his granduncle's voice of refusal was echoing in the back of his mind. He eventually decided not to and just save his brother from the heartache.

After Longwei threateningly spoke his words, unaware of his brother's thoughts, he began swimming back and forth in the pond. He then looked towards the Palace ruins that were somewhat visible over the trees and said.

"This Spring of Incarnation feels more like someone's backyard than some mystical treasure grounds."

Longmin heard that and looked over at the ruins as well.

"What kind of person's backyard would be able to casually produce a treasure like the Heavenly Pallet?"

Longmin asked.

Longwei responded with more of a question than an answer.

“I don't know, an Immortal maybe?"

Longwei's words provoked Longmin's thoughts.

His gaze lingered on the Palace for a while before he turned to his brother and said.

"If this place belongs to an immortal, then where's that Immortal? Aren't they supposed to be, well, immortal?"

Longwei stopped his paddling and said with lifted brows.

"You're asking me?"

Longmin just shrugged his shoulders in response.

Then bending his knees, he leaped off the rock into the air while curling up into a ball before entering the water with a loud splash.

Several miles from the Palace ruins, the young man from the Crescent Moon Sect was seen strolling leisurely through the forest.

Hands clasped behind his back, he moved ahead in the direction of the with steady and unhurried footsteps.

Despite the danger of encountering high-rank demonic beasts inside this forest, his face still had a tranquil expression as if he was just taking a stroll through his own backyard.

Out of nowhere, a rough and grating to the ears voice could be heard.

"All you have to do is make physical contact with any one of them and I'll take care of the rest."

After the voice spoke, a response was followed by a different voice that sounded younger and smoother.

"If you're really who you say you are why can't you just kill them right here and now to be done with it?"

The person with the younger voice sounded annoyed and impatient as he said that.

The rough and grating voice responded with.

"Do you think killing someone like them is that simple? They undoubtedly have life-saving treasures given to them by and were most likely branded by their Saint Realm cultivator’s Divine Sense. Despite the fact that I'm in the Sage realm, a mere sliver of a Saint Realm existence Divine Sense is more than enough to kill me."

The younger voice grew silent for a moment before saying.

"Then how should I go about making physical contact with one of them then?"

"You're on your own with that, the suppression technique I'm using to hide my aura from the Pocket Realm can only be used with my full concentration. If I took any action even if it's a small amount then the technique will become undone and cause the collapse of the Pocket Realm. And that's disadvantageous for both of us since the collapse of the Pocket Realm is enough to destroy my soul form, let alone you."

As the young man from the Crescent Moon Sect reached the large Palace ruins, his lone figure stepped across the treeline to come face to face with the broken walls of the Palace entrance.

As he walked his voice which turned out to be the younger voice sounded out.

"Fine, I'll come up with something."

Strangely, the rough and grating voice was not coming from the empty surroundings, it was actually coming from the youth as well.

"Yes, that's right, something like this should be easy for you, you're the secret disciple of Crescent Moon Sect's patriarch after all. It's time for you to show me why he thinks so highly of you to go as far as to agree with my plans to place my soul within your body."

The young man snorted and said.

"My Master didn't have a choice, I will never forgive that bastard Longwei for causing my former teacher's death. Suddenly losing his cultivation and something he had worked his entire life on had driven him mad to the point where he saw no reason to live and committed suicide. That son and father can go to hell! I want to see them and everyone in their clan get brutally murdered!!"

As he spoke, his eyes became red while he tighten his fists behind his back so hard that a trickle of blood started coming from his palms.

The old and grating voice laughed.

"Don't worry, if everything goes according to my plan then those two brothers won't make it out of this Pocket Realm alive. And as for the Wu Clan's destruction, they might have increased their experts at their borders but my Fire Phoenix Clan on the Beast Continent is more than prepared to carry out a full-scale invasion of the Wu Continent. At that time, your Crescent Moon Sect and their allied sects in secret would need to help our Fire Phoenix Clan in their destruction. As per our agreement, the Crescent Moon Sect will become the new rulers of the continent."

If someone had heard those casually spoken words, their heart would skip a beat. The Crescent Moon Sect was working with the Demonic Beast Continent to over through the Wu Clan.

The rough voice spoke up again.

"However, what you did by saying those words about one of those kids slightly ruined our plans. Suspicions might come about that your Master is attempting a breakthrough, and needs the Heavenly Pallet. If anything happens to those kids the Crescent Moon Sect would come under suspicion of their deaths."

"It doesn't really matter. All it will be is suspicion, as long we're able to kill them without leaving a trace then the Wu Clan won't be able to hold us accountable. Even if they try to attack us without proof of our involvement, we can use that as an excuse to gather more sects and clans to our side in the name of stopping the Wu Clan from abusing their power. Even if they're the Wu Clan and are the third most powerful force on planet Daiyu, they still won't antagonize all the sects and clans into a rebellion. They might be able to win, but it would cost them a significant amount of their resources and weaken them in the process. If that's the case then they'll just become a fish on the chopping block for major powers like yours. and the Tang Dynasty that's rumored to be eyeing their Pocket Realms."

The soul within the young man's body said with slight praise.

"That's impressive of you to be able to grasp the inner workings of the major powers so well, I must admit I somewhat see why your sect's Patriarch took you in as a disciple despite your slightly above-average cultivation talent."

A cold smirk could be seen at the corner of the young man's lips as he stepped through the front courtyards, and made his way towards the back of the palace ruins.
