Chapter 37
She roared in frustration. She pulled a sword from her back and transformed back into a human. "You have gotten stronger."
"Do not underestimate me." She raised her sword at me, but I clung to it with my sword. We kept fighting, and I tried to look for a spot to hit her without hurting her.
I backed up, bending slightly toward her to miss her strike.
Taking a step back, I grabbed my sword with my two hands and spun—the clinging of steel against steel had been going on for more than a minute when I struck her shoulder.
She started to bleed, then roared again. I met her stare with a smile and struck again. She wasn't fast enough to block it, so I pierced the sword into her chest and drew it out.
She was getting sloppy now as blood dripped down the front of her leather jacket.
I was done messing around. She was making it far too easy.
