Commander Lothian was hyperaware of Celia as they walked into the palace and were greeted by the king.
Luckily, King Alfred didn't ask many questions considering she was a guest of the commander's and he had never taken the opportunity before. Though it didn't stop the king from giving a sideways glance as Celia was walking away.
Callum could tell that her hand was shaking as she held onto his arm, imitating the behavior of others as they walked through the castle with their partners.
"I-I never thought I would meet the king," she leaned into him and whispered. "He's older than I expected."
Commander Lothian was happy that, due to Celia's height, he didn't have to lean far to hear her whisper. He had always preferred taller women more appropriate for his height than being around someone he felt he had to handle like a child.
