"Hey look! There's a Charmander and Ivysaur fighting with some Rattatas'!" James gestured for them to take a look.

"Hm~~ that Ivysaur is way bigger. It must be a rare breed." Jessie comments after observing Ivysaur for a while.

"Yeah, even that Charmander looks very healthy and strong. We should definitely catch them and the boss will reward us." Meowth said with stars in his eyes. He can already imagine himself laying on Giovanni's lap and sending that arrogant Persian a cheeky smile.

"I agree. With those two powerful Pokemon on our side we can surely steal many Pokemon. We'll be promoted quickly and get rich overnight. Hehehee—" Jessie began to crackle wickedly, immense greed could be clearly seen on her face.

Roland was unaware that a group of third-rate mobs were plotting, how to rob him off his Pokemon. If he was, Roland would have been outraged; sadly he wasn't.

Roland's mood was kinda sour as it has been many hours, since he ventured deep into the forest. Yet, not a single decent Pokemon has shown up. Although, decent by his standards means Pokemon with excellent potential.

Regardless, lady luck refused to smile at him it seems. Not only he hasn't seen a normal Pokemon with good talent, he didn't encounter a rare Pokemon as well.

Abruptly two mechanical hands descended from the sky out of nowhere and captured Charmander and Ivysaur.

"Huh!?" Roland was stunned at this sudden turn of events.

"Pokemon thief?" His expression became solemn.

He rapidly turned his head around and was taken aback by what he saw. A massive Meowth shape balloon was floating above his head.

'These jokers!'

"What the heck!? Why are you idiots here?" Roland yelled in annoyance. After all, they were none other than 'Team Rocket' fools.

"What did you call us? How dare you?" Jessie stared daggers at him.

"Are you deaf as well? I called you idiots. I.D.I.O.T.S, now I spelled it for you." Roland replied with indifference. His already bad mood worsened after meeting them.

Listening to a kid insulting her like that pissed Jessie off.

"Jessie, Jessie! Calm down look over there. He even got a golden Magikarp! It's my first time seeing one. Let's take that one as well." Meowth pulled on Jessie's hand and points at Magikarp submerged in the water.

"Oh...looks like this boy is a walking treasure trove! Hehe~ kid see how I rob you clean~" Jessie sent Roland a smile full of glee.

<<Magikarp-Magi-Magi-Magikarp!!!>>

Suddenly Magikarp growled. It was obvious that he was enraged. Furious Magikarp much to Roland's astonishment, instantly launched himself at the balloon.

"Tsk! You, useless thing. Can't even wait to get caught." Jessie sneered watching Magikarp's behaviour. She called out her Ekans.

"Ekans put this trash in his place!"

Under her order Ekans slapped Magikarp back to the lake.

"Noo! Magikarp! stay away." Roland shouted in worry.

Truth was they had him by the crotch. Both Charmander and Ivysaur are apprehended, he was out of option. Luckily the watch he was wearing can send emergency signals to the nearest police station.

This location was not too far from Cerulean city. A police team must be on their way, he only needed to stall for time.

However, contrary to his expectations Magikarp's anger shot through the roof after realizing how incompetent and powerless he was.

At that moment, Magikarp began to shine brightly. Seeing this, Roland's face lit up like a bulb.

"Heheh~ you bunch are truly the best exp donors. Even though, I'm not Ash and his companions you helped me get a Gyarados. Truly pitiful, kekekek—" Roland can't be more happy. Team Rocket's appearance turned out to be God sent 'blessing in disguise'.

Soon the process of evolution came to an end, moreover in place of the weak Magikarp stood a humongous red monster, a red Gyarados.

He was twice the size of an average Gyarados. Dwarfing many tall trees of the jungle.

"Fool, look at what you've done! We're done for!"

Meowth's face became deadly pale, he glared at Jessie and rebuked harshly.

"Don't blame me! How should I know he would evolve into something this scary!?" She felt wronged, no one can tell when a Pokemon will evolve. It was an accident.

"Haha, don't worry I'll spare your life. Think of it as a reward for the favor you did. Gyarados Hydro Pump!"

<<Guuurrraaaaa!!>>

Gyarados fired a huge jet of water at the balloon. The balloon blew up by the power behind the hydro pump. The steel claws let go of their grip over Charmander and Ivysaur. Both of them landed on the ground safe and sound.

.....

While getting blown away—

"Why does this always happen to us?" James cried in indignation.

"That Gyarados was scary...." Jessie was still as pale as a ghost.

"We didn't get the chance to even introduce ourselves!" Meowth complaints.

"We got blasted againnnn!!!" All of them said together, as they grow distant until completely vanishing in the horizon.

...

At Roland's side.

"You became an awesome Gyarados pal." Roland said as he got closer to Gyarados, so he can admire him better. He was a little emotional, Magikarp was the first Pokemon he caught. No, more like Magikarp agreed to come with him.

They have been together from the day he first came to this world.

Charmander and Ivysaur on the other hand were staring at Gyarados with solemn faces. They grow determined to train even more vigorously.

Now that Magikarp evolved into a Gyarados, the gap between them widened to a massive level. They have to put in more effort to reach their final stage, only then can they stand in equal grounds with him.

"Okay now go back. I need to head back to the city, it's almost evening. We have to challenge the gym tomorrow, you should rest early." Roland called them all back into their pokeballs.

Now that Roland has a Gyarados. He doesn't see any reason to delay his challenge. After packing all his stuff Roland started walking back to the Cerulean city.
