"Now you're even complimenting me. I'm flattered."
Allie glanced at Evan, and their gazes met. She shook her head, her lips twitching slightly as if something was ridiculous about it.
"I may have looked vulnerable earlier, but I'm not that fragile. My pride was hurt, but I'll survive."
"Isn't that good?" he mused. "I'm just trying to lift your spirits. I'm doing it as your husband."
"Fake husband," she corrected.
"But we registered our marriage. Would you still consider it fake?" He smirked playfully. "I don't think so."
This made Allie frown. "Yes, I still consider it fake because we have a contract and we don't hold affection for each other. There's a big difference."
