Chapter 10

Early the next morning, i woke up to take my bath, arranged everywhere while she still sleeps like a baby.

Her phone then rIngs waking her up which she lazily stretched to her bedside drawer to pick without checking the Id caller. "Hello" she answered yawning still halg asleep

"What the hell, girl you lied to your parent saying you went on a trip with me, she almost got me dead I had to cover up for your shit, your with that weird guy right?" The person yells in the other end I could hear and recall the voice, the Sasha girl.

"His not weird Sasha, his so kind" she said and Sasha groan. "Oh, you'd come back and explain to me everything that happened and tell him, if anything happens to you, he would be dead gone" she said before hanging up.

"Indeed I'm weird right?" I asked and she smiled dropping her phone. "Weird guys are fun to be with" she says stretching as she jumps down and walks to the bathroom.

Few minutes later, breakfast was served for us and we ate to our satisfaction before we set to visit her old granny, who lives only God knows where.

This time, we didn't stop a cab because she claims we can stroll to her granny's house cause its close by. We strolled side by side like always, I slowed down and let her lead the way since I'm just an escort.

I watched her stand in front of a candy truck and she ordered for two, I'm not really a sweet fan but she's making me take them. She returned with two Cotton candy, a pink and purple. I took the pink one cause it looks so light and less sugary.

The moment I took a piece to my mouth, it melted right away, i gazed at her with the eyes of 'seriously!' She smiled and walkes ahead.

We walked blindly heading forward we reached down to a street houses and was so quiet, no cars and less people where around, some jugging while others just stroll around and little kids play with ball and some with bicycle.

"Indeed, you must have known this place so much" I said looking around.

"I used to come here back when I was a kid, the main reason I came here was to see her, my mum and dad knew that along even when I didn't tell them anything."she said as we approached a white and pink house then stopped. I watch her inhale and exhale before claiming the door steps to knock.

She knocked after some second of stands the same time pressed the door bell.

Immediately we heard foots steps coming from inside towards the door, we both stood innocent waiting for the door to be opened and then it was.

An old yet healthy looking woman, with gray curly hair, wrinkles all over her face wearing a purple oversize granny cloths opens the door, she gasped in seeing her granddaughter with smile she rushed to hug her. "Oh my dear" she calls painfully.

"Granny, I'm here" she says responding to the hug, I could tell it took more than one minutes before we were invited inside, we sat on a rocking chairs by the side of the two couch in the sitting room, she handed us a full cup of ginger tea. Then sat beside her granddaughter.

"My baby, how you doing and your parents, your mother told me you were coming but I never knew it would be today" the granny said.

"Oh yes, I also just took this trip on my own with the help of this caring guy who tagged along" she said pointing at me, I was cut short sipping the tea so I only waved while sipping the tasty tea.

"How long have you been staying here all alone?"

The granny shook her head negativity. "I can't tell dear" she sipped her tea then dropped it on the side table before standing and passing a hand to April.

I could see the face she hold which was confusing, she has no idea what her granny was up to but she gave her her hand standing along. "I have been waiting to see you grow up to be a young beautiful lady just like your mother, come with me, I have something to show you" she said and led us to a small room that looks like that of a kid, I wonder at this her age she still has a small child until I heard her say.

"This was your mother's room while she was still a kid then." Granny said, I almost chocked but as a stranger I need to be composed, how in the world is this room her mother's, it still looks small and neat. She must have been cleaning it all day long.

"You didn't remove her things," Apirl asked and the granny shook her head. "No that can't be done, I raised your mother after your grand father passed away years back." She said and passed her an album from the bedside drawer.

Apirl opens the book and the first she saw was her mum with her parents holding a very nice smile, she smiled and flipped pages seeing a very nice and funny pictures, the granny told her lots about the reason why she doesn't want to leave the house, because it holds so much memories of her husband and her married daughter.

She then took us to a paint room where she always spend her time painting different things, I was amazed to know an old woman like her still paints. I was looking around when my eyes caught a paint by the left cornor of the room. I moved closely to give it a clearer view.

It looks familiar but then I clicked and looked at Apirl, indeed the painting with her beautiful smile. "I painted that when your mother sent me your picture when you were 18, you haven't changed even a little."

She gasped in happiness I can tell, she stared at the painting with so much love more than any other paint in the room, not because she's the one on it, but she fell for it. "I wished you could stay so we would discuss a lot that you need to know." She said and Apirl nodded.

"I wished I could." She answered looking at her granny.

"Maybe next time" she added smiling, they were both staring at each other holding hands and I could tell the connection, no one is trying to break apart.

The house telephone rang and it was what broke them apart from the outside, she excused herself to go pick living both I and Apirl. No one said a thing, normally she finds faults and laugh over it but this time she was so quiet.

"Does she know about your disease?" I asked and watch her shake her head. "No, she doesn't."

No wondered she has hope of they meeting next time. "But why?"

"Like I told you, I don't want anyone to know about my disease" she started looking up at me, her eyes filled with tears. This is the first time I've seen that she wants to cry.

"But you told me"

She smiled looking away. "I didn't, you read it in my diary and I can't hide from you. Seth thank you" she said wiping the tears off her eyes before it roles with a smile, her granny then returned apologizing for making us wait.

"We would be leaving, mum won't let me stay for long" she said and the granny nodded. "I want to thank you for the painting, I appreciate it"

"You can take it, if you want" granny said, trying to remove the broad, but April he held her hand. "No, it will be fine here. Until next time" she said with a widened grin. Her granny nodded with a smile and hugged her. I can tell the pain behind that smile, but why is she forcing herself, she needs to rest.

I think its about time, I quite hanging out with her and let her rest maybe she can recover. I will give it a try.
