Chapter 1

I'm Max. A transgender boy. My family are trying to accept me for who I am, but I see the hate they feel for me in there eyes. And I'm sorry that they have to feel that way about their own son- or daughter... as they still see me as. In their eyes, I'm their imperfect daughter named Milly, who is just going through a phase. But it's more than that, and it makes me want to die.

I wake up with my alarm going off at 6:30am. It's time for another day at school. I'm in Year 9 and the only people who accept me are my two closest friends, Rose and Josh, considering I go to a Christian school, I'm not surprised that nobody likes me. To them I'm a "Tranny".

I put on my white school shirt and my tie. Then I look at my school trousers but just as I was about to put them on my mum walks in.

"Don't be stupid, Milly, put on your skirt" She says, handing me the skirt and taking the hairband out of my hair. "You're going to school with your hair down and a bit of make up on today, I don't want your phas- transgender issues to go on much longer!"

"But, my name is Max and ima BOY!" I always try to convince her it's not a phase, but it never works

"No buts and you're Milly and you're a girl!" She shouts at me

"Whatever..." I mumble, grabbing my bag and walking out my room to brush my teeth. I saw my hair in the mirror. It's getting longer as the days go by and it's killing me. I wish I could cut it, but my parents will kill me, They'll also kill me if they find my binder. I wish they were more... accepting.

I arrive at school and already people are staring at me. Josh and Rose are nowhere to be fou-

"BOO!" Two people behind me shout. I was them

"Not funny!" I say, trying to hold back my laughter

"Yes it was! And you know it!" Rose says hugging me "I'm guessing you were forced to wear the skirt, huh" I nod

"Max, you need to start defending yourself! You're a boy, a really shy and confused one, but you're a boy" Josh adds

"I know but it's hard."

"Come on, let's just go to class."
