FLASHBACK - Lead

The next day as usual Kate, was going through both of their phones. She was checking whether their phones had any information regarding Susie's death. At the same time Ashton got a call from Jennifer. Kate assumed this was another one of their 'shady deals' call. She immediately put on her headphones and waited for Ashton to pick up the call.

'Ashton!'

'Yes? What happened?'

' I spoke to Mr. Rodrigues, he has extended the time, but said the consequences will be bad if we don't deliver her to them on time and in proper condition.'

'Yeah, they don't need to worry about that.'

'So what are you planning to do now?'

'I'll ask her out, simple. I'll tell you the timings, date and venue. Bring a few burly men there. I'll bring her to that place and make up a simple task like parking my car or maybe getting something from the nearby shop. Till that time she will go inside the villa. I suppose I don't need to explain you any further then?'

'No, I understand.'

'Good. Then..'

'Ashton, are you free today?'

'Is there something today?'

Jennifer stayed silent for a while and then replied 'Nothing'. Originally it was her birthday, and she wanted to spend it with Ashton.

'Fine then, bye.'

'Wait! Ashton!'

'What now?'

Ashton was starting to get annoyed.

'It's my birthday.'

'Oh. Happy birthday in that case.'

'Can you still not spend time with me?'

'Jennifer I have told you several times. I will not love you back, no matter what you do. So stop dreaming,'

'Why!!? I don't want your body! Even that bitch Susie got your body! Even that Kate! I don't want something they got as well!!'

Kate suddenly became rigid. 'What? Susie got his body? What the actual f*ck? Does that mean Susie actually loved Ashton? What the hell is going on!!!?'

'It is my choice what I have to give to whomever I want. You are no one to make choices in my life. YOU UNDERSTAND THAT!??' Yelled Ashton on the phone. Jennifer started sobbing and Ashton hung up the call.

Kate : 'God this is getting more and more twisted. Firstly Susie had sex with Ashton. I am pretty sure this was before we started dating. But why didn't she voice her opinion then? Now to think of it, she was pleased when I had said that I didn't have a crush on him initially. Was it because Susie liked Ashton like she said? Or because Susie found it something because of which she was forced to do so? Because when I told her that we started dating she wasn't against it. She even seemed happy about it. Ugh my mind is in a mess!!'

Kate saved the recording on her laptop and then shut it down. She needed a break to figure everything. But atleast this time she had a bit of lead. Ashton was somehow involved in Susie's death. Though it was not for certain, but Kate had the gut feeling in her heart.
