I Have A Roommate?

My roommate almost never stayed in our room. In a week, the times she slept here are around two to three nights only. However, I never felt lonely. Boarders in other rooms chat with me in the dining area. And I'm busy with schoolwork and activities that I barely realized the passage of time. One day, I realized something. The room I'm staying in only has one bed. Where did I get a roommate again?

Where Did I Get A Roommate?

Mira yawned as she went upstairs to the third floor of the school building.

She kept sighing, as if she's troubled by something great.

Kylie was about to greet her a good morning when she noticed the distressed sighing of her friend.

"What's up, Mira? Are you stressed about the increased workload?" Kylie asked curiously.

Mira sighed once again.

"I'm lonely," Mira shortly replied.

"My roommate never stays for too long in our boarding house. I'm getting lonely," she explained as she opened the door to their classroom.

Kylie led them to their chairs before turning to Mira once more to get gossip.

"That no-show roommate again, Mira? Why don't you move out of the boarding house and transfer to another dormitory? You're also complaining about how hot it is in your room every afternoon, right?" Kylie suggested.

"But I really like that room. It's even bigger than my former boarding house's room. I can also cook downstairs and the comfort room and the shower area are separated. There's also a dining area, a study area and a visitor's lounge. I like the amenities. It's also near the school, the water refilling station, the printing shop, laundry shop, restaurants, and a few stores," Mira defended as she slumped on her seat, waiting for the professor to come.

"Even if my roommate doesn't stay in our room often, it's fine," Mira concluded.

"Eh? You have a roommate in your room, ate Mira?" a surprised voice came from behind the two.

It's Claire, the freshman who lives in Room #11 and came from the same province as Mira.

She almost forgot that the both of them are classmates in this elective.

"Yes, I have, Claire. Her name is Raja. She also goes to the same university as your roommate Jessica. Didn't you know her? I think I saw Raja cook rice using Jessica's burner a few times."

Claire looked confused for a while.

She looked at her ate who's convinced that she has a roommate.

But as far as she can remember, there's only one bed in Room #6, instead of the bunkbeds in other rooms.

Was her ate being scammed?

"But ate, your room only have one bed. Where did you get a roommate?" she asked.

Maybe the pressure from school is making her ate hallucinate.

She looked at Mira with hidden pity.

Mira is stunned with Claire's question.

"Huh? Your room only has one bed, Mira? Then did you hallucinate? Was the pressure too much for you? I can help you ask a teacher for counselling if you need it. Or ask the dean for a leave of absence? The university is now more focused on the mental health issues of students nowadays. Everyone will understand," Kylie kindly advised.

It's true. If in the past, depression and school pressure is being treated as nothing by society, nowadays, it's a serious issue and should be addressed appropriately.

Doubts filled Mira's mind.

That's right, her room only has one bed.

It was also for this reason that her Ma accepted the change in rooms, because Room #6 is much more spacious than Room #1 and only has one bed.

"No, thank you. I'll handle this myself, Kylie."

"But Raja said that she was the roommate assigned by the land lady," Mira murmured as she turned towards the door of the classroom as the professor entered.

Mira threw away all confusing thoughts as she focused on the lecture of the professor, however, she reminded herself to clarify this situation later.

After class, Mira returned to the boarding house.

With her heart beating like a drum, Mira approached the door to Room #6 and opened the door after unlocking the lock.

What Mira saw in the room is a freezing hell, with frost and ice covering everything, even the sole bed.

Mira did not mind the chill and slowly entered the room.

The room closed with a bang, but Mira did not notice.

Her attention is all on the girl silently lying down on Mira's bed.

Raja, her roommate.

Soon, after feeling someone staring at her, the girl in bed stirred and turned.

She soon opened her eyes, and Mira saw blood-red rubies that shone in the light.

Mira subconsciously held her breath while looking at those eyes.

"Mirabelle," the girl on the bed said, before sitting up.

"I never told you my full name," Mira replied. Only now does she feel the freezing cold in the room, but she did not back down.

Raja smiled gently as she held out her hand to pat Mira's head.

"You don't need to, because I'll always know. You're my Mirabelle. My one and only princess consort. Even if this world turns to ashes or gets thrown into a spatial storm, I'll always find the presence of my Mirabelle. Because you're mine," Raja's gentle smile tuned into an obsessive one as her hand tensed, seemingly controlling her strength not to crush Mira's head in her grasp.

"I knew it. My room only has one bed, so where did I get a roommate from? It was suspicious from the start, but I overlooked such a simple thing," Mira murmured as she bowed her head before looking up to Raja's eyes once more.

"What are you?" Mira asked after she gritted her teeth, trying to fight the fear building up in her mind.

Raja silently looked Mira's trembling body before answering.

"I am Mira's," Raja answered.

"There's another who Mira can't help but be infatuated with, right? I can help you forget about her."

"I can make you forget. And I can make you remember only me."

"My Mirabelle should only look at me. I only came a little late, but I'll make up for it and properly attract Mirabelle's attention."

"After I take Mira as mine, I'll then hunt down that girl who took Mira's attention away from me."

"So, don't look at anyone else besides me, okay? I can't handle it."

"Mirabelle will be with me forever and ever, until the end of time," as Raja finished the series of mad mumblings, shadows enveloped the room and swallowed everything.

Mira didn't even have any time to react to Raja's words when that happened.

Soon, the room returned to its tranquil state, with not even a single dust to be found.

Later that evening, memories and records of a girl named Mirabelle disappeared quietly, as if she never existed.

But who knows?

Maybe the girl is still living with her roommate who never existed.
