Before Chen Jianhai could react, the bear-like, burly male staff member pinned him down.
Instantly, Chen Jianhai's mind went blank.
What is he doing?
What is he trying to do to me?
Is he crazy?!
These soul-shaking questions ignited Chen Jianhai's survival instinct, and he struggled desperately to kick the man off. However, the more he struggled, the harder the man pressed down on him.
In the end, it was like the man was using all his strength to subdue a dragon or tiger.
Unfortunately, Chen Jianhai had just finished a fever and was extremely weak. He was barely stronger than a weakling. After a few rounds, Chen Jianhai was drenched in sweat, panting heavily, and completely exhausted.
"Get... off me!" Chen Jianhai panted, weakly.
"Boss, hold on a bit longer. The others will be here soon," the staff member said, also sweating profusely and exhausted.
Phew! The boss really is strong. Even with a high fever all night, he still has so much strength. A few more rounds of resistance and I might not be able to hold him down!
"The others are coming? What does that mean?!" Chen Jianhai's eyes flashed with confusion.
At that moment, the door to the room opened again.
The staff member's eyes lit up with joy as he saw the bellboys, electricians, and plumbers rush in.
"I can't hold him any longer, hurry and help!"
With the staff member's shout, four or five strong men charged forward. Poor Chen Jianhai was like a cat on an operating table, limbs tightly bound, waiting for a neutering surgery—helpless and at the mercy of others.
No matter how much he shouted, no one came to his rescue.
Terrified, Chen Jianhai quickly tried to say, "I'm..." fine.
But just as he uttered the word "I'm," the electrician swiftly grabbed a towel from the table and stuffed it into his mouth.
"Not good!"
"The boss is having a seizure and might bite his tongue!"
Chen Jianhai: Damn your ancestors!!!
Just as Chen Jianhai was about to burst into tears with no way out, Lang Ai Hotel's female knight finally broke through the siege to rescue her emperor.
Rapid footsteps approached.
"What are you all doing? Get off him!"
Wen Zifan's voice rang out in the room, tinged with anger.
"Xiao Fan Jie, the boss is having a seizure. We're trying to control the situation!" the staff member said, sweating profusely and looking proud.
Last night, he was unhappy about being forced to stay in the boss's room by Wen Zifan. But today, he finally found his value. If he hadn't bravely and decisively pinned the boss down, the boss might have been in serious trouble!
No matter how capable Wen Zifan was, she was still a girl and couldn't handle the boss. So, a man had to do it!
The staff member was proud as Wen Zifan rushed to the bed, her eyes widening in panic at the sight of Chen Jianhai's limbs pinned down, a towel in his mouth, and eyes wet with either anger or grievance, looking as if he was about to cry.
"How can he be having a seizure after the fever broke?"
Wen Zifan nervously touched Chen Jianhai's forehead, then her own. The temperature was normal. This shouldn't be happening.
Without hesitation, Wen Zifan pulled the towel out of Chen Jianhai's mouth and asked, "Boss, where do you feel unwell?"
Finally able to speak, Chen Jianhai wanted to curse, but his throat was too hoarse. "I feel unwell everywhere."
Chen Jianhai looked at Wen Zifan with his red eyes, filled with a certain expectation.
Wen Zifan stared at him for a while, then carefully touched his forehead and face again. Suddenly, she stuffed the towel back into his mouth and turned around, saying, "The boss feels unwell. Keep pressing him."
Hearing Wen Zifan's command, the electrician got excited. The plumber got energized. Chen Jianhai was stunned. The bellboy, worried that he wasn't strong enough, even lifted his leg to press half his body weight on Chen Jianhai.
Whether genuinely or not, at this moment, everyone seemed to take a bit of revenge in their actions.
"Has my illness cured, so the love is gone?" Chen Jianhai thought, staring at Wen Zifan.
Wen Zifan casually leaned against the wall, her amber peach blossom eyes smiling slightly. She bit the black hair tie on her wrist and pulled her hair into a ponytail, then raised her phone and snapped a picture of Chen Jianhai's face.
Chen Jianhai: ???
Not helping me is one thing, but taking pictures...
Sensing Chen Jianhai's anger, Wen Zifan relented and dismissed everyone causing trouble, restoring peace to the room.
"You... you!"
Chen Jianhai wanted to curse but couldn't bring himself to scold his junior sister.
He turned over angrily, showing his back to Wen Zifan, and pretended to sleep.
Wen Zifan looked at Chen Jianhai's puffed-up appearance and chuckled, "Are you angry?"
"If you were Liu Qinglu, I'd have thrown you into the sea to feed the fish by now!" Chen Jianhai cursed inwardly.
"I wasn't the one pressing you. What's the use of being angry at me?" Wen Zifan said with a light laugh.
"It would have been better if you pressed me..." Chen Jianhai thought, then immediately wanted to slap himself for the inappropriate thought.
Even a rabbit doesn't eat the grass near its hole!
The air was filled with awkward silence.
"Serves you right!" Wen Zifan's playful yet reproachful voice came from behind.
Chen Jianhai perked up his ears.
Wen Zifan's voice continued, "You watched a movie on the water alone and didn't dress warmly. Next time you're sick, see who will take care of you."
"I had the kitchen make some porridge for you. If you feel better, go downstairs to eat."
With that, footsteps mixed with the sound of the door opening and closing.
The room was quiet again.
"Is she gone?" Chen Jianhai peeked through the covers. Wen Zifan was really gone. But she had thoughtfully left a cup of water with a straw on the bedside table.
Chen Jianhai grabbed the cup and took a sip through the straw. It wasn't as sweet as last night's.
He put down the cup and lay back, crossing his hands over his chest, thumbs twiddling as he recalled Wen Zifan's words.
What did she mean by that?
Maybe... I should get sick again?
