After playing with the irresistibly cute Ai for several minutes, under Ella's annoyed insistence, Al finally decided to check the spirit skills of his other two Spirits.
"Wait, you have more Spirits!?"
"Of course.", Al looked at the shocked beauty as though looking at an idiot, "Didn't you hear anything I said? You're like the independent will of my first Soul Ring, and Ai's Soul Ring is a million years old. You think you somehow cultivated to 1,000,000 years in a half dead state?"
"Uh…"
Ah Yin was rendered speechless by his rhetoric.
"And in case you haven't noticed, you are the Soul Ring of two Spirits, not one."
"???"
This time, she was more clueless than shocked. After all, in her knowledge, a Soul Ring can be attached to a Spirit, and if one wanted to remove it, they would suffer from immense backlash.
As he let his two Spirits out, however, Ah Yin could only believe Al's words.
What appeared before her was a feather quill and a spherical congregation of light, bright, vibrant green light, each having a bright crimson Soul Ring attached to them.
But…
"They are only parts?"
"Yup.", Al nodded, "I can't just duplicate Soul Rings, after all, so I could only split it in half and substitute the missing half with my own soul, which is inexhaustible due to an ability of mine."
The perk he got from Guo Liu, [Tireless Machine], didn't actually give him infinite Spirit Power. What it did was make every exhaustible source that Al possessed, inexhaustible.
Meaning, since life force was exhaustible, for him alone, it would never be exhausted. Since Spirit Power was exhaustible, for him alone, it would never be exhausted. And since his 'Soul' could also be 'exhausted' if he used the [Shared Soul] perk too many times without letting his soul recover, he also had a 'boundless', 'inexhaustible' Soul.
The key to [Tireless Machine] was the wording, it didn't make 'every exhaustible resource inexhaustible', instead, it made 'every source possessed by the user which can be exhausted, inexhaustible'.
For other people, the Soul isn't something they can exhaust, so if the wording of [Tireless Machine] was the first one, this wouldn't be possible at all.
But since it was the latter…
"You…you substituted my soul, half of the soul of a 100,000 year old Soul Beast…with your own?"
"Yup." Al nodded nonchalantly, as though what he had done was just so simple to him. Which it was, technically.
((Of course it was, cause I had to do all the hard work and all the calibration and all the connections, all you had to do was lend a bit of your inexhaustible soul.))
Ella's spiteful voice made him smile.
'Yes, yes, thank you El. I wouldn't know what I'd do without you.'
((Humph! You better remember that!))
Her Tsundere pride made him want to cuddle her. If only he could give her a body soon…
'Soon…'
He shook the thought out of his head and looked at his two Spirits.
((Descriptions coming up…))
Ella made two windows pop up without him having to ask, and the three people, Ai having climbed his back and resting on his shoulder while hugging his head adorably, looked at the words on the screens.
. . . . . .
Spirit : [Feather Quill]
Soul Ring : [Ah Yin(Red)]
Spirits Skills : [Life Scribe]
Life Scribe - Allows one to influence [Life] using words written by this Quill
. . . . . .
As a 100,000 year old Soul Ring, it would normally grant a Spirit two Spirit Skills, but due to it splitting in half, each Spirit got only one. But Al was quite satisfied with this result, he didn't expect his badly mended soul to even copy a Spirit Skill from the beginning.
And looking at the description of his Spirit Skill, he grinned. Not because of its details, but precisely because of how vague it was.
Because of how 'broad' it was.
Holding the Quill in one hand, Al wordlessly strode towards the warehouse in the distance and entered it, finding a couple partially dried up herbs. Grabbing them, he walks out into the light and places them on the ground.
Then, he lifts the Quill up, pointing it towards the dried up herbs, and lets his Spirit Power out.
*weng!*
Wind and dust picked up from around him as horrifying amounts of Spirit Power, which despite their relatively low quality would make a Titled Douluo pale, emerged from within him, shaking Ah Yin who was observing silently.
'…what a monster.'
The monster in question, who would definitely refute the title as he considered himself something a mere monster wouldn't be able to compete with, let all the Spirit Power, equal in density to a normal Spirit Elder and in quantity far surpassing a Limit Douluo, flow into the Quill.
Of course, not all at once. If he overloaded the Quill and ended up damaging his Spirit, it would be too late to cry then. No, he patiently guided the Spirit Power, most of which simply dissipated due to proper lack of control, not that he really minded it, until he felt the Quill reach its limit.
Al didn't know how much Spirit Power doing what he was about to do would take, so he simply continued letting more Spirit Power out, soon saturating the atmosphere with it as I gently moved the Quill, the crimson half-solid-half-ethereal Soul Ring glowing as the tip of the Quill left behind a green trail midair.
{Live}
As he drew the last stroke of the word, in English since why not, he suddenly felt all the Spirit Power in the Quill disappear.
"Figured as much."
He continued making the Spirit Power outside and within him flow into the Quill, observing as it all disappeared as though sucked in by a bottomless black hole, and sighed.
"This can't be used in combat."
It was obvious. Just using the skill itself had such a long cast time, what was he supposed to do? Inform the enemy of the sacred rules of anime fights and hope they stand there like an idiot watching him supply the skill with all the Spirit Power it needs to activate?
'If the enemy is such an idiot, I wouldn't even have to fight. I can just seduce / brainwash them instead. Enemy number down, allies number up, and another RP, three birds with one stone.'
Minutes later, in the tired eyes of Ah Yin who simply lost count of how many Titled Douluos of Spirit Power he had utilised, the word flashed a bright, blinding green light, and burst apart into countless specks of green light.
These specks of light then swirled around the herbs, and converged together, assimilating into them.
Then…
"They…are getting fresher…?"
A voice of disbelief emerged from behind him as Al grinned.
Soon after, he wrote other words.
{Grow}
{Flourish}
{Take Root}
{Spread Life}
{Reproduce}
{Grow very very very very quickly}
The last word, or sentence, was obviously not simply bad grammar. Al realised, when he was writing the {Take Root} command, that multiple words took more Spirit power.
Since they took more Spirit Power, naturally, they would have greater effects. The excess Spirit Power isn't just used as glowing ink, right?
Thus, a six worded writing, which took him nearly a whole hour to supply enough Spirit Power to, once again affirming that he wouldn't be able to use this in combat until WAY later, took effect.
"Impossible!"
And how incredible the effect was.
In Ai's curious eyes, Al's proud gaze, and in the disbelieving vision of poor Ah Yin who had her worldview shattered and kept muttering 'impossible' over and over again…
A single bunch of half withered, nearly lifeless herbs…
*boom!*
Exploded.
Well, not literally. But you get the idea.
