Sylvan sighed, running a hand through his hair, "I'm sorry, sweet Eva. That wasn't supposed to happen. I wanted to give you a pleasant dream, not a nightmare."
Eva, still recovering from the shock, managed to utter, "But... Ferid, he was... and you... why did you save me?"
A shadow passed over Sylvan's face. "I couldn't let him harm you, no matter the circumstances. Your safety is... important to me."
