Entrance Exam (Bonus Chapter)

"Let's get going. The entrance exam is about to begin." Lilith said, pulling the children out of their daze.

Naturally, this wasn't her first time coming here as throughout her life she had dropped quite a handful of children here who mostly became strong individuals in the school.

So she wasn't awed like the children who came with her and considered the magnificent building in front of her just like any wooden cottage.

Walking behind her with nervous and curious expressions on most of their faces, the children kept looking around akin to country bumpkins.

And as a result, other children who came from a higher background looked at them with contempt. Regarding them as filth that shouldn't even be given the chance to behold such a grand building much less enter it.

To those snobbish nouveau riche second generation, it was a blatant disrespect to the school's founders and other rich parents who enrolled their children in this school.

'One... Two... Three... Four... Five...'

Alistar thought, counting the people who looked at him with a disgusted gaze while running his eyes through the crowd.

Their gaze reminded him of how his boss looked at him before he died. And no matter how hard he tried to erase their annoying faces from his mind, it remained just like an unbearable itch.

Narrowing his eyes, Alistar said to himself. 'I guess I don't mind showing them how it feels to be looked down upon.'

With that, Alistar took in the sight of all their faces. Subconsciously storing their faces within his mind and promising to show them hell if he ever had the chance.

But for now, Alistar placed his hand in his pockets as he kept on walking behind Lilith with a cruel blood-curdling smirk plastered on his face.

Unknown to Alistar, what he thought to be his real personality was just a fragment of multiple personalities he had.

Sometime later, the figures of Lilith and the children who came along with her could be seen seated in a room that contained several other children along with their guardians.

Walking out of a white door that seemed to glow in an ethereal light, an average-looking man with an easily forgettable face said. "May I please have your attention."

His tone was polite and had deep respect laced in every word of his.

Was he polite because it was his job? That was far from the reason as he could've yelled 'Would all of you shut the f*ck up' and it would have had the same effect.

But he had to sound as respectful as possible since individuals of wealth and power were gathered here. People who could make his life and everything he had achieved crumble before his eyes.

Seeing that all eyes were focused on him and their chatters were reduced, the man adjusted his bow tie and after taking a deep breath he said. "Would batch number twenty-five please step in?"

With his words echoing through the room, Alistar pulled out a paper slip that had been handed to him and said after facing Lilith. "I guess it's my turn."

"Good luck," Lilith said, having a smile spread across her lips.

Replying with a nod, Alistar stood up from where he sat before walking towards the door.

The man had slicked-back brown hair that had a few strands left at the front, hazy blue eyes that had a light of respect but held disgust in their depths, bushy brown eyebrows, almost non-existent eyelashes, and an extremely long face.

It was clear that he must have been... no, is the greatest failure of his creator. A canvas filled with a lot of flaws.

Immediately bowing his head and extending his hand toward the door when a child that seemed to have a rich background walked by, the man deeply hoped that the parents of those kids would give him a tip.

When Alistar's figure was drawing nearer, the man immediately stood upright with his eyes showing clear disgust as he gazed at Alistar's figure.

Unbothered by the man's look, Alistar treated him akin to air and stepped inside the room. Not even sparing a glance in his direction when he had fully entered.

Angered, the man stared daggers at Alistar's back wanting to rip the latter to shreds after getting ignored.

The man never expected this outcome since when he acted the same to other poor children, they glared at him with angry eyes before walking away.

Ashamed after hearing some of those rich old fogies chuckle, the man could only grit his teeth while bowing to the rich kids that passed.

"You're going to pay." He mouthed through gritted teeth and eyes that threatened to spill flames.

Unaware that he had made a new enemy before he even got enrolled, Alistar ran his gaze through the room he had found himself in.

Just like the door, the room was also white and had several pieces of equipment placed all over it but from look alone, anyone could tell that they were far better than normal pieces of equipment.

"I'll be your examiner." A masculine voice echoed through the room as the figure of a man cloaked in a black outfit appeared before them.

He had every inch of his body covered in it making him look like some sort of secret agent.

Immediately when his form appeared he continued. "And like most of you had predicted it would be a physical test."

Making a hologram manifest before him he said. "You'll be going alphabetically and try your best not to waste too much time."

"Aadav Arachi!"

A boy with blond hair and dark skin stepped out of the crowd after hearing his name before proceeding to take the test.

Done with all tests in less than five minutes, the man nodded his head and said. "An average of 189 is not bad."

But that was all as he immediately called the next person.

"Alistar Thorn!"

Stepping out from the crowd, Alistar walked towards a strength machine that had a red punching pad at its center.

'I guess it'll be wise if I don't use my full strength.' He thought, remembering that the person who had the highest strength was a beefy boy with a total of 296.

'Judging by the boost I received after being chosen, the serums and supplements I consumed plus the strange liquid that healed me I should have a total of 495.' Alistar said to himself while clenching his fist.

Feeling the power that flowed through him after clenching his fist, the air that had been trapped in his fist crackled with inaudible intensity.

'I guess half of my strength would be best.'

Alistar soon reduced the amount of power in his fist while locking his gaze on the circular pad in front of him.

After taking in a deep breath, Alistar punched the red pad.

His punch hadn't done anything dramatic as the screen kept counting until it stopped at 249, marking his strength as average.

Unhesitatingly going to complete other tests, Alistar had an average score of 213 which made his acceptance to the school possible.

In a while, Alistar's batch had exited the room making the next batch enter.

"How was it?" Lilith asked, having an anxious look on her face.

"I passed," Alistar replied, flashing her his usual easygoing smile.

Soon, it was the other's turn, and just as expected, they all passed the test marking the start of their adventure in Azurewind Academy.
