I am reborn in Cyberpunk

David from the Cyberpunk anime gets our MC. How will the story change if he doesn't become part of Maine's team? If he's not a love-struck fool with Lucy? If he meets characters we know from the game and doesn't die at the beginning of the game canon? patreon.com/FanFictionPremium

A couple of months flew by extremely quickly.

Working for Regina was extremely dangerous, but also extremely lucrative. Somehow it just so happened that I didn't buy a vehicle, instead I arranged for Panam to be my driver for twenty per cent of the supposed reward. And now Panam and I were on our way back from another mission.

- Damn, I'll probably never get used to how easy you have it....

I grinned sadly.

- Easy? Panam, I ploughed for it easy as hell, and frankly, I'd trade all that ease, a reasonably well-to-do life for the quiet life of a technician.

- And what's stopping you?

- Because it's not possible in Knight City.

I sigh.

- The City of Dreams. It's ironic, because for some reason, Militeh and Arasaki's interests have converged on this city, and they're fighting over it like it's the end of the world. And people are suffering. And if I forget about my solo career and become a technician, I'll either become a victim of a gang shootout, or I'll run into an inadequate client who won't be satisfied with the cost of my work. Both result in dead bodies.....

I shrugged.

- So what's the point of going solo if nothing changes?

- And move to another city?

Panam looked at me interestedly.

- Well, it must be better there, of course, but would it be much better?

- You don't think it would be much?

- I'm almost sure...

I shrugged.

- ...There won't be Arasaki and Militeh, there will be others. Other gangs. And I won't know who I can trust and who I can't. Well there's another reason...

- Another reason?

- Yeah...I won't have two wonderful friends there, Panam and Judy.

- Bastard.

Panam got off the wheel and slapped me on the shoulder.

- You could have left that friend out of it...you spoilt the moment!

- Come on...

I grinned.

- Judy's not interested in me. So you don't have to be jealous.

- Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Stop! I'm not jealous!

- Panam, who are you trying to fool? I know you're attracted to me.

I put my hand on her thigh and lightly stroked her thigh, but I didn't put my hand on the inside of her thigh or just upwards.

- Tz...

She followed my hand.

- ...Don't pounce.

- Panam...I know you're not ready yet and that's why I don't allow myself too much, but a light caress like this shouldn't bother you.

She sighed.

- David...

- Come on Panam, I was actually planning to invite you to my place...I have homemade pizza and good mead.....

The girl's eyes glistened and she gave me a very interested look.

- And there's a kebab marinating in the fridge, which you can grill on the electric grill....

All these appliances, including a small refrigerator, I assembled myself. All the parts were taken from the city dump with the help of Panam.

- Shish kebab?

- Yeah, I got the real meat through Regina.

She licked her lips.

- You're not gonna bother me, are you?

- Who do you think I am?!

I was extremely perturbed by her question.

- Of course I am!

- Pfft...

- You've had my mead and you know it's not very alcoholic. It has less alcohol than beer. So if, in your opinion, I'm going further than I'm allowed.....

Panam sighed.

- Okay... But I'll punch you in the eye....

- No problem...

I shrugged my shoulders and touched her shoulder.

- ...turn here, we'll go to the mega tower car park.

Panam nodded, licking her lips, as I had brought her something I had personally cooked for her a couple of times in the morning and she knew I was a very good cook. We pulled into the car park and went up to the right floor and left the car. I'd paid for parking all night.

- Well, let's go...

I waved at her and she followed me out of the car park and into my flat.

- David hi!

I waved silently at the little girl from the next flat. Somehow I didn't get along with her or her team. To be more exact, everything is more or less with her, I crossed paths with the blonde a couple of times, but the rest....

They turn their noses up at the sight of me. I don't care, though.

- Are you ignoring me again?

She looked at me carefully, but I just walked past her and opened the door, letting Panam go through.

- Eh...

- Hi Becca, I'm doing alright as you can see, got myself a mate... hope you're doing alright too?

- Yeah. Oh.

But I'd already gone inside and slammed the door.

- And what was that?

- My neighbour, Rebecca, solo, works with Maine.

- Um.

- Not the most famous solo, but he's got a good team and a reputation. But the guy's a chrome addict, and he's about to lose it if he doesn't stop.

- Hmm... ah...

Panam nodded at the door and sat down on the couch I pointed out to her.

- And Becca is too active. If I had started answering before I was on the doorstep of the flat, you and I wouldn't be sitting here right now.

- I see...

Panam nodded, and I walked to the small nook I'd converted into a kitchen, and I took the pizza out of the freezer and put it in the oven. The kebab went into the electric kebab machine, and I had mead in my hands, a small bottle of a couple of litres, which I put on the table along with some sandwiches.

- Well...

Pouring the mead into tall glasses, I clinked glasses with Panam.

- ...To my best partner!

- Don't suck up...

But despite her words Panam grinned and took the first sip of the drink with her eyes closed with pleasure. I took the remote control and switched on the slightly dimmed lights and classical music.

- De-evi-id.

- Yeah, yeah?

I poured her some mead and sat closer to her, picking up one of the sandwiches from the plate and bringing it to her mouth.

- I didn't oh... um...

She took a bite of the sandwich with a grateful nod, and then I popped the rest of the mini sandwich into my mouth.

- ...that's what you're doing, huh?

- Wooing a pretty girl and putting a little pressure on her situational awareness and perception of the world.

- And you're even gonna tell me what you're hoping for?

- I will.

I nodded my head.

- ...tonight I'm counting on a couple of hot kisses, and on you staying at my place tonight.

She frowned slightly and I put my finger on her lips, stopping her from speaking her mind about what I'd said.

- To clarify, not sleeping with me, although I wouldn't mind sleeping in the same bed, but staying here for the night. Just a nap, no sex, maybe with a couple, three, ten, hot kisses.

She sighed.

- I'm too sober for this shit yet....

We enjoyed the mead for a while, Panam eating the sandwiches I fed her, until the buzzer sounded and I went to the oven where I got the pizza.

- It smells wonderful...

Panam sniffed and when I brought the pizza on the table and cut it, she didn't wait and grabbed the first slice and greedily took a bite.

- Mh...

She covered her eyes and chewed it with pleasure.

- ...divine!

- I'm glad you liked it.

- You know, if you feed me like this, I might live here.

Panam grinned cheekily.

- I don't mind...

I smiled softly at her, but Panam's eyes opened wide in shock.

- ...So, if it's just a question of tasty food, then stay here to live.

- I was actually joking....

- I wasn't.

I shrugged.

- I'd really love it if you stayed here.

- I... let's take it slow....

- Come on.

We ate the pizza very quickly, and then the kebab was ready, and after that, Panam couldn't stand it and grabbed me by the scruff of my neck and kissed me. Except she was about to quickly pull away from me, instead I caught her in my arms and slipped my tongue into her mouth and started a tongue wrestle.

- Bastard...

That was her first word after a long kiss, but I didn't let her think for long and kissed her again, but this time Panam herself gave into the process with as much enthusiasm as I did.

- So what are you doing to me?

- Я?

Picking up a piece of meat I quickly brought it to Panam and she took half of it and I ate the other half.

- I'm trying to show you that staying here tonight is a very good and right idea.....

- I don't know, I don't know...

She shook her head and happily responded to the next kiss, moving into my lap in the process. And the next time she took a piece of meat from the table, half of which I took a bite, and she finished it.

- Am I doing it?

- So far I'm inclined to think that staying the night at your place isn't the worst idea....

The new kiss was much longer and I let my hands run lightly over the girl's back and shoulders.

- Keep your hands to yourself...

Panam told me as I took another bite of meat.

- What about me? Me, nothing...

I shook my head...

The evening was beautiful and when we had finished eating I gave Panam my bed and after putting away the plates I lay down on the sofa.

- Hey, David.

- Yeah?

- Are you still awake?

- No, beautiful.

- Are you comfortable in there?

- Not really...

She sighed.

- Okay... let's sleep together, but keep your hands to yourself!

I got up from the sofa and walked over to the bed, which I immediately climbed on.

- Come here...

I opened my arms a little and Panam looked at me with a frown.

- Panam, you called me, the bed isn't the biggest and we can't expect a comfortable sleep if we don't cuddle. So come here my prickly little girl, I'll cuddle you and we'll sleep.

She sighed and moved slightly towards me and snuggled into my arms, the night was going to be hard because of my stamina and very pleasant because of the girl who would be sleeping next to me.
