Walking into the Defense against the dark arts class room, Iris felt a bit off. "Ah Iris you are here rather early." Uncle Lupin said getting things set up. "I see so they are learning about Boggarts today." She said indifferent still upset about the argument they had. He knew and understood how pig headed she could be. It is that stubborness that makes her achieve her goals. The students started to pile in making her nod at him. "interesting, isn't it? Would anyone like to venture a guess... ...as to what is inside?" Professor Lupin asked looking at the shaking wardrobe. "That's a boggart, that is." A student answers."Very good, Mr. Thomas. Now, can anybody tell me what a boggart looks like?" Lupin asked the room of students. "No one knows." Harmonie said shocking not only Iris but Ron as well. Iris was sure she didn't spot Harmionie come in. "When did she get here?" Ron asked Harry who shrugged his shoulders. "Boggarts are shape-shifters. They take the shape of whatever a person fears the most. - That's what makes them so..." She was about to finish when Lupin cuts her off. "So terrifying, yes, yes, yes... Luckily, a very simple charm exists to repel a boggart. Let's practice it now. Without wands, please. After me. Riddikulus!" He said before allowing the students."Riddikulus!" The said in unison. "Very good." Lupin said prompting them to continue the chant. "Riddikulus! " they said again. "Very good. A little louder and very clear. Listen: - Riddikulus! " Lupin articulated "Riddikulus!" The students said again as Iris walked around the room only to hear Malfoy say "This class is ridiculous." She smacked him upside his head. He looked at her nervous and she shook her head. "Very good. So much for the easy part. You see, the incantation alone is not enough. What really finishes a boggart is laughter. You need to force it to assume a shape you find truly amusing. Let me explain. Neville, would you join me, please? Come on, don't be shy. Come on. Come on. Hello. Neville, what frightens you most of all?" Lupin aske poor Neville. "Professor Snape. " Iris rolled her eyes at the irrational fear. She understands he can be intimidating but he would never do anything to hutr someone.
She thought watching how things play out. "Sorry?" Lupin said wanting Neville to speak up. "Professor Snape." He said a little louder making students laugh. " Professor Snape. Yes, frightens all." Lupin said before looking at Iris. "You live with your grandmother." Lupin asked knowing Iris is not a happy witch at the moment. "I don't want it to turn into her, either." The students laugh "No... ...it won't. I want you to picture her clothes. Only her clothes, very clearly, in your mind." He said positioning Neville. "She carries a red handbag..." Neville started to describe only to be cut off by Lupin. "We don't need to hear. As long as you see it, we'll see it. Now, when I open that wardrobe... ...here's what I want you to do. Excuse me. Imagine Professor Snape in your grandmother's clothes. Can you do that? Yes. Wand at the ready. One, two, three. Think, Neville, think." He said and Neville cast the charm "Riddikulus!" Neville said and Iris grit her teeth seeing the man that raised her in woman's clothing. "Wonderful, Neville, wonderful! Incredible! Okay... ...to the back, Neville. Everyone, form a line... Form a line! " The students formed a long line fighting for a spot. Iris spots Ron up first she already knew what he was afraid of.
"I want everyone to picture the thing they fear the very most... ...and turn it into something funny. Next! Ron! Concentrate. Face your fear. Be brave!" Lupin said as the Boggarts changed into a giant spider. "Wand at the ready, Ron." Lupin said and Ron cast the charm."Riddikulus!" The spider was now in rolller skates. "Yes! You see? Very good, very good! Marvelous! Absolutely, very, very enjoyable! Parvati! Next! Show us what you see." A giant snake appears. "Keep your nerve. Steady." Lupin said before the student cast the carm. "Riddikulus!" Making the snake turn into a Jack in the box. It was Harry's turn to go. Iris looked at her uncle and then the Boggart."And next! Step up, step up! Wonderful, wonderful!" She was ready to sprint to Harry. Her Uncle beat her to the punch, Jumping infront of Harry causing the boggart to change from a dementor to a full moon. "Riddikulus!" He said making the boggart turn into a deflated balloon and sent back into the wardrobe. "Right. Sorry about that. That's enough for today. Collect your books from the back. That's the end of the lesson." He said out of breath as the students voice their displeasure."Thank you! Sorry! Sorry, you can have too much of a good thing." He said heading up into his office once the students cleared out Iris went up to check on him.
Iris pov
I could her the panting of my uncle from the other side of the door. I know what he was thinking and why he jumped infront of Harry. I thought the same thing but never expected him to be afraid of a dementor. "Uncle Mooney may I come in." I asked only to hear the door click to be locked. "Iris go to your next class I will be ok." He sounded like he was fighting something. I know for a fact I will not be able to help.
