Chapter 26: Conquering Sokovia III

Here's a second chapter today for me being gone.

(3rd Person: POV)

Stirring awake Helmut J. Zemo quickly got his bearings, after which he began to examine his surroundings.

Immediately after doing so he began thinking up various plans in relation to escape.

Since the Sokovian soldier quickly realized he was chained up inside of a dungeon cell.

Meaning he had been captured.

Most likely by members of the Latverian armed forces.

Since he and his subordinates had been sent on a mission to infiltrate Latveria and assess the country's overall situation. Now that they had a new government and monarch.

In Zemos' mind this mission was an easy one. Still, he didn't let that stop him from taking every precaution.

But even with precautions and planning here he was.

Telling him Latveria was much more a threat than he initially assumed.

A threat he must inform his leaders about immediately.

Hence why he was in such a hurry to get out of his current situation as a prisoner.

But as Zemo was thinking exactly how to do this he stopped, and turned his attention to the cell door.

Since it was opening.

When the cell door finished fully opening two Doombots entered and then took up positions on either side of Zemo.

Then once they had done this Victor, in his armor, entered the cell.

His hand clasped behind his back.

Seeing the new monarch of Latveria standing before him Zemo had to admit the man was impressive.

Even so, the Sokovian colonel was not going to be so easily intimidated.

Thus he looked Victor right in his eyes and didn't shy away from his gaze.

An action Victor quickly noted.

"Quite the brave man you are colonel Zemo." Victor began. "To display such a defiant look in your eyes while chained up, at the mercy of the leader of the country you and your men infiltrated in preparation to invade it." He spoke.

The expression on Zemos' face not changing a bit at the revelation of this information by Victor. But on the inside he was worried.

Since this told Zemo Latveria had somehow managed to obtain highly classified information that was only known to a select few within the Sokovian government and military. Him being one of them.

Given he was put in charge of the infiltration mission.

It should've been nearly impossible for Latveria monarch to know this. Yet here he was, speaking on the subject easily.

Telling Zemo his nation likely had a traitor in their midst.

For he couldn't think of any other likely way Latveria could've obtained such knowledge.

"You are wrong colonel Zemo. There is no traitor working with us in your government or military." Victor spoke.

Hearing this Zemo finally got a shocked expression on his face.

Which Victor completely ignored.

"The reason I know all I do is simply due to my own efforts." He explained. "Now then, enough usless chatter. Let us get down to business."

Unfolding his hands from behind his back Victor stepped forward and then grabbed ahold of Zemo's face with his left.

He then easily lifted the man slightly into the air and slammed his back against the cell wall.

At the same time Victor did this he began using his telepathy and wormed his day into every nook and cranny of Zemo mind.

Once he did Dr. Doom began absorbing all of Zemo's knowledge in regards to the man's military experience. From his skills with firearms, to his hand-to-hand combat techniques, to even the man's knowledge in regards to torture and interrogation.

Victor took it all.

Then once he was done absorbing Zemo's knowledge in regards to his military experience he then absorbed all knowledge pertaining to the inter workings of Sokovia.

Once that was completed Victor then went to work. Molding Zemo's mind so the man could be a benefit to him and him alone.

Since Victor decided Zemo was too valuable a man to simply kill. Given all the talents he possessed. Not to mention the fact he singlehandedly caused the MCU version of the first superhuman Civil War all on his own.

Showcasing just how dangerous of a man Zemo truly is.

A man Victor wants at his beck and call.

So he kept Zemo's ruthlessness and then increased it even more. He kept the man's love for his family. Along with the love he held for his country people. In fact the only thing Victor really changed in Zemo's mind was where his loyalty's lied.

Instead of to Sokovia Victor made it so that Zemo was loyal to him, and his ideals and plans, alone.

When Victor finished up inside Zemo's mind he telepathically put the man to sleep, so the mental programming he just did could set in.

Setting Zemo down on the floor Victor released him from his grasp.

He and the Doombots who were in the cell then left.

Victor having just completed phase one of Latveria annexation of Sokovia.

Now it was on to phase two.

[March 5th, 2007]

[Sokovia, Novi Grad]

Sitting in his private office, behind his desk in his chair, general/dictator Kamil Novoty had an angry expression on his face.

Due to the information he was reading off the papers in his grasp.

Which was an intelligence report he had just received from one of his undercover agents in Symkaria.

Stating that the crimes of prime minister Limka had been discovered by king Stefan and those loyal to him.

As such the man had been arrested, and it seems all those related to his illegal dealings were being rounded up as well. Along with all their belongings. Including the shipments of drugs and guns Novoty and his associates in Sokovia had sent Limka and the rest in Symkaria.

"Fuck!" Novoty shouted. Slamming his fists down on his desk.

Since not only did he just learned he lost a huge amount of money, but that Symkaria now has evidence Sokovia was involving itself in their affairs.

Because the general knew how spinless Limka was.

'That little bastard is likely telling them everything as we speak.' Kamil thought.

Knowing the Symkarian's would soon be pestering him.

And if that wasn't bad enough so would the Latverian's.

Since just before Novoty received the news regarding Limka he got a report from the leader of the team he assigned on an infiltration and assessment mission of Latveria.

Of which he was apparently the only survivor.

Given the rest of his unit was wiped out by the robots created by Latveria new leader and king.

An outcome Novoty couldn't have even fathomed.

But given the report was coming from Helmut J. Zemo, a man who has served under him for many years, general Kamil knew the description of events to be true.

For Zemo was not a man to imbelish, or one to flee unless the situation was extremely dire.

Which it definitely was.

Given the medical report on Zemo Novoty got along with the colonel's after-action report on the Latveria operation.

So now two countries would be out for Sokovia blood.

But Novoty was not going to simply sit by and let those weak nations try and destroy everything he had built. Everything he had strived and fought for.

No matter what anyone said.

Not even Baron Strucker.

"No one will take what is mine!" Novoty spoke.

He then called for his advisors and told them to schedule a meeting between him and his fop military personnel.

For he was going to show Latveria and Symkaria the true might of Sokovia.

(Victor: POV)

Sitting within my personal lab within Castle Doom I leaned back in my chair and simply watched as Kamil Novoty ranted and raved upon a holographic screen.

Courtesy of a video feed I was receiving from a bug I planted in the man's office.

The man talked about the greatness of his "rule" and the might of Sokovia.

Blah, blah, blah...

I tuned out the man's ranting until I heard him, in not so many words, declare war on both Latveria and Symkaria.

Making me smile.

Since that means everything was going according to plan.

Novoty still has absolutely no idea he's being strung along.

So with this phase two of the Sokovian Annexation plan has been completed.

Now it's time for phase three.

The funnest part in my opinion.

Blowing shit up.

Time for Kamil Novoty to learn what happens when you fuck with Dr. Doom.
