I am a hybrid

Hi, I am Sasha. I am a teenager suffering from a rare blood disorder. I live with my mother a homicide detective. My older brother is back home after a tour in Afghanistan. My life sucks. One day I made my usual trip to the hospital for a blood transfusion and series stringent tests. I heard a conversation between two people about a box containing the cure to all the problems. I have had enough of my life being sucked out by this hospital and my illness so I snuck out low and slow. I used its contents on myself. Now I have to deal with the consequences of my actions. I am now a fusion of two species. I am a hybrid.

Chapter 2

I woke up to the alarm that I clearly didn't set. I picked it up and threw it away and went back to sleep. I saw myself sneaking into the locker room and stealing and injecting the stuff and my illness vanished practically overnight. The next I was poked and prodded by a team of doctors after which they concluded that they misdiagnosed me. I was released to go home mixed reactions. I felt like I was falling and I jumped out of bed. I realized that I had a weird dreams. I laid down thinking that I need to relax. Moments later I was poked repeatedly as though someone had a problem with me sleeping so I asked the person in question if they had life insurance and the poking stopped.

I woke up much after the poking stopped to see my brother and his commanding officer standing at the foot of my bed. They looked scared. I asked if the girl was taken again and they nod to say yes. I asked them to check the cameras and told them to check with Peter. They looked like they wanted my help to go out and find her. But the nurses wouldn't have it. I was about to go through the next phase of the tests before the doctor decides if I should get a blood transfusion or a bone marrow transplant. The officer sadly wished me well and went to search the hospital.

The doctors tested me further and couldn't decide if I should indeed get a bone marrow transplant or continue my meds while getting a blood transfusion. So they talked at length about how it should be done and when will it be my turn if the possibility of a transplant could be broached.

There was a knock and the soldier walked in asked if it was possible that I could help him find her. The soldier promised his marrow in exchange for helping him find his kid. The doctors said it is possible that she may have ran away. I told him about the labyrinth in the basement. He gave me a walkie talkie and requested that I should give him directions. I told him that in order to find her he needs to be extra quiet. So I suggested that we use the cellphone instead. He took the directions I gave him about. A few minutes later he found her unconscious and was about to be undressed by a Pedophile. He and my brother beat the crap of the guy. My brother came out dragged the molester kicking and screaming. The soldier carried his kid moments later. He was pleased to have her back unmolested. He honored his promise. He spend the next few hours calling everyone he knows and he found me a donor.

I asked to be excused and walked out and saw the raven-haired man and remembered the box with the miracle cure in it. The nurse pestered him to tell him if he has made any progress on his dream of stronger than both policy. The guy gave him a look that would have given me a heart attack but the other guy was so obsessed that he brushed it off till the guy grabbed his throat. He said that it wasn't that. It was just some photographs of a dirty senator. And if he wants to be a part of the group he had better do his part and he will be welcome otherwise he will be their dinner. This seemed to bring him back to Earth. He swore it was safe and went back to work. The bald guy asked him if it should be moved and the ponytail said that it was meant to be here in this hospital. He believes that it was meant for someone but not the nurse. The bald guy didn't question his friend's gut feeling so they both left after they checked if it was still there. On my way back I heard mom talking to the doctor and he made it clear that this was the final straw for me. If this doesn't work I am as good as dead. I wanted to forget what he said so I snuck out without being noticed.

I went back to my room. I found out that I had been moved to another room with the commanding officer's daughter Jane as my roomie. I tried to sleep but the entire night I had one dream after the next where I injected the stuff into me and I made a miraculous recovery. I woke up frustrated and decide that I had enough of the suspense. The woman who was supposed to keep an eye on Jane was out for the count. I took the blood bag they had inserted into me and hid it in my pocket. I snuck out and found out that the box was still where it was. I doubt it was safe for long. I switched blood bags and took both vials. I took two syringes from the crash cart and followed the instructions. I inserted the needle of the blood bag into the IV insert. I double checked to see if nobody caught me outside before I went back to my room. The guardian was snoring loud enough for the neighbors to call the security. I hung the blood bag on the stand and tried to sleep.

The next morning when the blood bag had nearly emptied itself into me. I snuck into the locker to check if I remembered the instructions correctly and saw that the box came with special syringe that can attach the vials. So I injected the contents of both vials into me one at a time. The first one was the moonlight one. I felt heat course through my veins but I couldn't wait much longer because I heard someone so I loaded the liquid silver vial and injected it as well. It felt like ice was sliding through my veins. I slowly got up and placed the syringe back where I found it. I quietly walked out of the room. I put back the syringes I stole since they were redundant. I felt a heat wave and a cold rush and the high I got was amazing.

I was hauled to the operating room and was bout to be given new bone marrow. The doctors became doubtful about the success of this operation so they canceled it. I was moved back to my room. I wanted some fresh air. I was told to stay in my room for the time being. The doctors had to do a few tests before they cleared me for outdoor activities. I stayed in my room watching Amazon prime and Netflix. Jane was unconscious most of the time and the woman guardian wasn't exactly a people person. I felt sudden pang of hot or cold but other than that I was fine. I saw that my skin was starting to be come translucent.

The next morning I woke up to the sound of the teams of doctors chattering about how my treatment should be. The argument of the majority was that it is not good idea for me to get a bone marrow transplant. They did more tests and concluded that not going through with the transplant was a very good idea since the trial meds they were giving me for the past two weeks seems to be doing wonders for my health. They were shaking hands and congratulating each other for their brilliance. While they were blissfully ignorant I knew it was the stuff from the box that cured me. It really did what ponytail said it would go. Cure me completely. What could be the side effects? What was the repercussion of my actions? What could possibly go wrong?

I was finally allowed to go home and was instructed to take a new series of meds. I was tired of these pills dictating my fate so I kept them in my drawer and locked it for good measure. I looked in the mirror and saw that my skin was looking less pallid. In fact, it looked soft and supple. My hair was shiny and silky. I didn't look like a zombie anymore. I can walk perfectly without any assistance from a cane. I jumped around and landed on my feet each time. I feel like my flexibility was that of an Olympic athlete. I was double jointed. I can hear what was happening in the living room even though I was in my bedroom two floors above. I didn't know that the lights were switched off till mom walked and turned it on. I had night vision. I wondered what else I could do.
