Intermission(2)

The wings trend was so big that all of the best fighters had wings in the next half a year. This made everybody more active and more eager to train. It was such an improvement that Amon himself came to praise me.

My home changed drastically in the past two years. Firstly I drew a huge portrait of Naomi and put it on the first floor near the stairs so that every morning that I went to work I could see grandma watching over me working and so that every time I went to sleep I could see her and feel like she's telling me that I did a good job today.

The old shop was transformed into my personal workshop so I didn't need to go to Li anymore. Quite the opposite, he came to me from time to time since my workshop had a lot more equipment than his, and since Nya worked at Future Industries she helps me with the parts I couldn't easily procure if I ever needed them. I started a lot of interesting projects like trying to make cell phones, TVs, new kinds of turbines, more equipment to use in battle, on that note, I took back the suit I hid and repaired it without anyone knowing.

Since I had so many new and innovative ideas for new equipment that I couldn't create because of their complexity or their resource requirements or simply because they weren't too useful to me at the moment and I didn't want to bother with them. Li convinced me to write theory papers about them, then send them to the Science Magazine of Republic City. I was reluctant at first since I didn't want to share some of them with the rest of the world because they were dangerous and I was afraid someone was going to steal them and use them for their own profit without me getting anything, but Li reassured me, that I would get the credit I deserve and the people that want to use my ideas need my approval first if they want to sell products using my designs. In the end, I gave in to his pestering and started to send the publication letters.

Since I was an unknown scientist and some of my theories and schematics were groundbreaking they asked to meet me to do an interview, they were very curious about the mind person behind all of those wonders. When they saw me they couldn't believe it, they thought I was pulling a prank, they expected an old man that was publishing his life work, and when I told them the things I send them were some random ideas that I came up with they almost choked. They didn't know what to ask me anymore since I didn't go to any prestigious school or didn't work for any famous company, truth be told there wasn't much to talk about since I was so young.

The interview was a major failure but since I was there I talked with them about a theory I called, "The evolution of machines and mankind in the next century.", it was basically the history of how technology advanced from the Industrial Revolution to the 21st century. It was a story more than anything else. I had a fun time talking about it, I didn't even realize the stares they were giving me. When I finished they were looking at me like I was some kind of messiah. They asked me if they could publish the story and I told them I would send them a more complete draft to work with. I didn't see people so happy my whole life. Sure the story was interesting and all but it was only that, a story, speculation, guesswork, so you can imagine my surprise when I saw my theory being on the front page of the yearly publication.

The publication had a monthly and a yearly release, I was expecting my story to appear in that month's publication, I didn't expect it to find its way in the yearly publication, much less on the front page.

I didn't even know about it till Li came running to my place with a bottle of wine to celebrate. When I saw him I told him to go back to sleep since it was early in the morning, but when he throws the gazette at me and told me to look at the first page I became speechless for a few seconds then I told him to come inside. Since Nya was preparing to go to work at that time I showed the article to her too and she was also speechless, I could see how happy she was for me and she promised me that she is going to take me out to celebrate after she gets off from work.

When she left I remained with Li and we started to drink. It was a good wine, I take a good look at the bottle and I see that it is a 200 years wine, it was extremely expensive and when I asked about it he started to cry and hug me, it took me ten minutes to calm him down. When he finally did he told me that his dream was to appear in the Science Magazine, but he never did no matter what he sent, and when he appeared in the yearly gazette no less it made him feel that he didn't live for nothing his entire life. I then remember that I called out Li at the beginning of the transcript for helping me along the way and for being a mentor and such. I even told them his last name and that he was a librarian.

I told him that it was only natural since he was the person who help me achieve all those things and that without him the things I made would not have existed. This made him cry again, harder this time, on his knees hugging my feet.
