The carriage rattled through the woods, carrying them farther and farther from the luxurious imperial manor they'd stayed at the previous night. The roads were still wet and full of puddles, and there were the odd split or otherwise downed trees alongside the road as they went.
Fortunately, none had fallen into the road. At least none that blocked the road they were taking, anyway.
The last thing we need is yet another delay caused by that storm.
The group eventually broke through the trees to travel across open grassland. The meadows were dotted with the occasional tree, but were mostly barren except for shrubs and bushes.
In the distance, sometimes, she could spot what looked like barns or grazing livestock. Whether there was a nearby city or just random patches of civilization, she didn't know which.
But she was definitely afraid to ask.
