Chapter 8: The City

After the carriage passed the gates, it was then parked at a private inn. Solomon and Eric unloaded their luggage from the carriage into the inn building.

"Thanks for taking us Perry, here's payment for your troubles." Solomon said as she threw a pouch of coins towards the carriage driver.

Perry catches the pouch before he bowed his head. "Anything for you, Master Solomon."

Solomon waved at Perry before she walked into the inn. She then walked up stairs as went through the third floor to her room door. Before Solomon opened the door, the sound of thuds and laughter could be heard on the other side. Solomon chuckled as she shook her head. Solomon opened the door as she a boy having a pillow fight with three gorgons. They all froze as soon Solomon entered the room.

"What are you think you're doing?" Solomon said as she crossed her arms.

"Um... a pillow war?" Eric said sheepishly.

"Without me?" Solomon said as she picked up some pillows and threw into Ash's, Kai's and Lux's face.

"Cover my back, Eric!" Solomon said.

"Yes, Master!" Eric laughed.

The next morning Solomon and Eric got ready for their first day inside the city. Solomon wore a black long sleeved dress shirt with a juniper-green vest over top, some of juniper-green waist pants, a pair of black leather boots, a black sunhat with a pine-green ribbon, her black mask, and a pine-green overcoat on her shoulders.

Eric wore something similar to his master. A black long sleeved shirt with a violet-purple vest over top, some of black waist pants, a pair of violet-purple shoes, and his moss-green hairpin stick into his long blonde combed hair.

"Mother, Eric. Are you going out?" said Kai.

"Can I come along?" Lux asked.

"Me too!" Ash said excited.

"Sure. But you do realize that all three of you have to take a certain potion, right?" Solomon grinned as she showed a bottle with a green liquid inside.

"Do we have to?" Lux groaned.

"Drinking that potion feels so weird." Ash said as a chill crawled up her spine.

Kai simply walked up to Solomon and took the potion in hand before he drank all of it without hesitation. Eric and Solomon tittered as they watched Ash and Lux surprised expressions.

Kai wiped his lips as he smirked at Lux and Ash. "If you two are too chicken to drink a little potion, than I'll go for you. Don't worry, I'll remember to get you something."

"Shut up! We're not chickens! We're gorgons!" Lux growled.

"That's right!" Ash hissed.

"Than what are you waiting for?" Kai said as Solomon pulled out two more green potions.

Both Ash and Lux gulped nervously before they took the potions and drank them.

"Blah! It taste disgusting!" Lux complained.

"My body is already shivering." Ash stuttered.

Kai rolled his eyes. "It's not that bad, you two are just being over dramatic."

After another moment, the gorgons body started morph into a different form. Their tuff scales turned into smooth skin, their snakes faded away into soft locks of hair, their tail spited into a pair of human legs.

"Ah! This feels so weird not having my tail anymore!" Ash said before she stubbled onto her face.

"Having my snakes gone feels like as if they were ripped off my head and now replaced with a monkey's butt." Lux said as he touched his human hair.

"So smooth~" Kai giggled as he stroke his skin.

Solomon clapped her hands. "Okay! Come on and get dress, I don't want anyone walking in here seeing you three butt naked."

"Yes Mother." the three gorgons said.

Solomon sighed as she dressed Ash, while Eric dressed Kai and Lux. Ash wore a long scarlet-red dress with a long sleeved black dress shirt wrapped by a scarlet-red belt around below her waist, a yellow sunhat with a red ribbon, and a pair of black shoes.

Kai wore a normal black shirt with a grey vest over top, some black shorts, a pair of brown leather boots, and a grey head band. Lux wore a basil-green long sleeved dressed shirt with a black vest over top, some long black pants, and a pair of black shoes.

"Come on, we're leaving." Solomon said as she walked out of the door.

"Yes, Master." Eric said as he followed Solomon.

"Hey! Wait for us!" Ash yelped as she tired not to fall over.

"Slow down! We're still adjusting!" Lux said as he tripped a little bit.

"I wonder if we will get anything to eat while we're out?" Kai said as he walked perfectly fine.

"Screw You!" yelled Ash and Lux as they threw things at Kai.

"Huh? What did I do?" Kai said while he dodged the two's attacks.

When all of them got outside, they walked down to the busy market.

"Wow! Look at all the things here, Master." Eric said while he held Solomon's hand.

"I know, where do you want to go first?" Solomon asked.

"Food?" Ash suggested before her stomach growled.

"I add to that vote." Lux said as his stomach growled.

"Do you two only think with your stomachs?" Kai sighed as he rolled his eyes.

Solomon chuckled. "Its alright Kai. So after getting food, where do you want to go next?"

"Jewels!" Kai beamed while Ash and Lux groaned.

"You and your silly jewels." Ash sighed.

"Their just shiny rocks, there's nothing special about them." Lux groaned.

"Shut up! Of course you two wouldn't understand! This is my passion!" Kai barked before he stick out his tongue at Ash and Lux.

"Now, now~ Don't need to be like that, Kai. We understand your love for gems and jewelry, right guys?" Eric said as he gestured Ash and Lux to play along.

"Of course!" Ash said with an upbeat tone, while Lux just nods.

"Anyway, after getting food. We'll search around for a jewelry store, is that alright?" Solomon said.

"Thank you Mother!" Kai beamed while Ash and Lux grimed.

After a hour in the market, they all decided to take a small break near the city's center in the plaza.

"Ah~ I'm stuffed." Lux sighed.

"That was amazing~" Ash sighed as well.

"You two are unbelievable." Kai huffed while he pinch the bridge of his nose.

"Leave them alone Kai, it was their decision." Eric laughed.

"That is not what's bothering me! It's the fact they ate three barrels filled beer bread all in one setting! That's enough to keep a household of humans full for over two months!" Kai growled.

"Relax Kai~ No one got hurt so it's okay." Ash said.

"It was eating competition, did you expected us to not join?" Lux laughed.

Kai sighed. "I guess you're right. But don't go crying to me if you two get fat from all that bread."

"What are you talking about?" Ash asked.

"Bread doesn't make you fat!" Lux proudly stated.

"Yes it does." Eric commented.

"No~ That can't be true." Ash said.

"Yeah! Why would it be true?" Lux added.

"Because unlike the bread I make at home, beer bread carries 140.7 calories each." Solomon said, and Ash and Lux chocked.

"Really?" Lux muttered.

"We're going to get fat?" Ash stuttered.

"No," Solomon started before she pinch their stomach.

"You two are already fat." Solomon chuckled.

"Nooooooo!!!!" Ash and Lux screamed.
