The Red Menace

I couldn't continue like this. The setting sun was blinding me, but I couldn't look away from them. They just stood there, moving left and right occasionally. Quick enough that I wondered if they even moved.

I must capture them, for her. I got low to the ground, wiggled my butt, and after a couple beats, I pounced.

I landed right on them! But, when I looked, they were gone. I was eluded again by that red....menace!! I raced after it, my adrenaline pumping. They were on the wall, I ran full speed ahead. At the last second, they disappeared. I tried to stop, but it was too late.

BAM

Into the wall I went. And down to the ground. I heard a gasp and I felt myself being picked up.

Worried brown eyes looked into my green ones.

"Oh my God, Sylvia!! I'm so sorry. I didn't think you would get that freaked out at the laser pointer." She sounded contrite, but there was no reason for it. This Mr. Pointer was the real culprit.

I wiggled a bit and meowed at her to put me down. Honestly. I may be a lady, but I know how to get rid of unwanted guests. I'm not that useless.

I turned in a circle and tried to find the menace. I heard a sigh and all of a sudden a feather with a bell was being dangled in front of my face.

A feather? I tried to ignore it, but it was more insistent than I would prefer. Don't they know, that is no way to get a beautiful felines attention?

Jingle

I turned around at lightning speed and started batting at it.

Oh... it was more fun than I first thought.

Perhaps... the menace can wait one more day.
