Chapter 20: Before the Test

After discussing the matters with Ms. Principal, all five of them went ahead first, leaving me behind with Ms. Principal. They didn't mind, so I told them that we will conduct our lesson inside the library.

I sat down on the couch in front of Ms. Principal, who were pouring another cup of tea. It was not for me, but, for her. I wonder how many cup she had already drank. But, how many cup of tea she had drank does not matter. What matter was what she wanted to talk to me about.

Minutes passed by. There was a deafening silence inside the Principal's room. The only sound we will hear is that from the time she'll take a sip.

I hate to break it to her, especially when she's having a good time drinking her tea. But, I had to. The girls were waiting for me inside the library.

"Ms. Principal, if you're not going to say anything-"

She stopped me from continuing any further and put her cup on top of the table. Gently wiping her mouth as she looked intently at me.

"Kaneko-kun, you remember what I've told you before, right?"

I nodded my head. How could I forget very little things considering my syndrome.

"If that's all you're going to say, I'm taking my leave. They're waiting for me. First impression counts"

She smiled. I wasted precious time. I rose from my seat and decided to take my leave. She just let me walked out on her, so as I walked past her, I did not bother looking back to see what face she's making.

--

Their face says it all. They've been waiting for about 10 minutes, I guess. And, as I expected, their brows arched up and the five looked like they'll go wild any second. I smiled. I had my masked on, so, they did not see me smile at them. To lessen their anger. But, I hope that they understand what happened. Well, I could always lie to them.

"Sorry, Ms. Principal had a lot of things to remind me"

They had their notes out and even without me, they already begin studying. That is, if that's true or just a front.

"You really took your time with the Director huh?"

Don't give me such a look. I'm clean.

"Well, the truth is, I just sat there for minutes"

They won't believe me, but at least, I've told the truth. I sat beside Tachibana-san, took out my notes and began questioning things they don't understand and things they do. This is my first time tutoring people the same age as me. And so, we began our lessons.

---

Two days ago, inside the Battlegrounds, where only the hosts of the event were the only people remaining inside, the guards and other personnel excluded.

They were looking through the CCTV cameras and they were trying to find out who got the better of them, I, who ruined their plan.

All eyes were in the monitor. And when they finally saw what they were trying to find, their eyes gleamed with hopes, hope of finding my identity and take their anger out on me. That's a given since I heard them talking at the back stage.

"This! That's him! That's the one I came across, when I was on my way to talk to you girls"

She's pointing so hard at the monitor, just to gain more favor or what.

"Hmm... Where have I seen him before?"

Oh no, where I wonder.

Then the memories of her seeing him somewhere struck her mind.

"I saw him before! He's quite famous"

Her friends' getting angry with all her cliffhangers.

"Just tell us already, so that we could get back at him!"

"He's quite famous when he's still in middle-school. I think his name's Seth Kaneko? If, I'm right"

They all smirked at the thought of knowing my name. Wow, that's one huge step they did. I'll congratulate them when we cross paths again.
