Instantly, a bone-chilling cold spread out from him, creeping across the ground like frost in winter, only faster.

The ice spread slowly at first, then it shot forward, taking everything with it—plants, stones, weapons—all encased in the same deadly freeze.

The sound of ice forming filled the air as the cold wave surged, reaching the thousands of people who were helping Alaine.

Their screams were silenced in moments, frozen expressions of fear splattered on their faces as their bodies turned into statues of ice.

It all happened in seconds as the frost swept across a thousand meters, leaving a deadly, silent wasteland.

In the center of it all stood Daniel and Maria, caught off guard. Daniel tried to lift his holy sword, but the ice had already claimed his legs, freezing him in place.

He pushed back against the creeping cold, gritting his teeth, but the frost overtook him bit by bit.

"L-Lucius…" Daniel's whisper froze on his lips as the ice swallowed his face.

Her eyes widened, and she let out a last gasp before she, too, was sealed in the cold, with an expression full of fear.

"Haaaah..." Lucius let out a cold breath, letting the smoke flow into the air.

He approached Daniel's statue, before touching his arm softly.

The ice shattered, and Daniel's arm crumbled to pieces, scattering across the ground like shards of glass.

One by one, Lucius touched the frozen pieces of Daniel's body, as if he was playing some kind of game.

Each piece broke, falling into frozen dust that sparkled in the cold light. Then he turned to Maria.

He touched her hand, and with a snap, her body broke apart, fragments scattering on the frozen ground.

The entire battlefield was silent; everything was covered in ice. Thousands of frozen figures stood locked in fear and pain with each one representing a statue of their final moment.

No one moved, no one breathed—everything was trapped in Lucius's frozen prison.

"Huh...?" Then Lucius sensed something.

It was faint like a heartbeat barely hanging on. He closed his eyes, reaching out with his senses.

Far off in the distance, he found it—a flicker of life.

He brought his hand to his face as he laughed to himself.

"Of course, she would survive...!" his eyes turned completely cold.

Far away from them, Alaine, leaning against a cold stone wall, struggled to keep herself alive.

Blood soaked her clothes, and her body was nearly broken, a huge wound torn across her side.

She pressed her hand over the gaping injury, gasping for air as her fingers dug into the stone wall behind her.

"Fucking hell..." Alaine cursed weakly.

Her vision blurred, and pain clouded her mind. But she was alive, barely. She had felt the deadly cold coming for her and used every bit of power she had left to escape.

She shifted her organs just in time to avoid a fatal strike, and used a forbidden spell, to throw herself thousands of meters away from the battlefield.

Even from this distance, Alaine could feel the cold chill of Lucius's power.

"Haah..." She let her head fall back, breathing heavily as she leaned against the stone wall. She forced herself to focus, moving her hand to press against her wound.

With the last remnants of her magic, she began to close the injury, weaving her flesh together in a slow, painful process.

"Ahh... Can you guys shut up already?" he said annoyingly.
